Hi everyone! I would like to join in on this "virtual walk" activity, but don't know how it works. I went to the site listed, and it did give a map, but I'm not really sure what to do with it. Do you get to see the sites along the way? That would be really cool! Also, I don't have a pedometer, (and at this point, am not walking enough for it to matter! - but I WILL be changing this!), so could I just estimate how far I've walked?

It is pouring out there today - almost had to resort to rowing a boat instead of walking. I turned around after only walking about 3/4 of a mile and came back home so I guess that makes it a VERY soggy 1.5 more miles - didn't you guys hear there is a tropical storm hitting this walk????

9-2-08 Ok...I had a frustrating day and work and when I came home all I wanted to do was snack...sooo I went to the gym and did 3 more miles....I was imagining Hawaii...I have only been there once (when I was 18), but plan to visit next September with my company.

I will look up walking trails....I tried the Mapquest walking maps but was having a hard time with it. There were a couple of suggestions on the thread so I will look it up......

Aloha...see you all in Hawaii soon! I'm afraid we might start getting some of the bad weather in North Carolina......so we better get hopping...buy those tix....or imagine getting there on a cruise ship.....that could be fun too!! Isn't it fun escaping reality sometimes. I love this tread...can you tell....lol!! emoticon

Should I book tix to Hawaii? How about from the Punchbowl memorial to Hanauma Bay where we can all go snorkeling? Hiking thru the mountains past the University campus should be really pretty. Just not sure how long it would be.

The way I have set up the walk so far is based on a location (hotel, beach) anything that has an address that I can mapquest the miles. This looks beautiful. Do you know a nearby address

great job everyone! even on a holiday weekend when many of us would have been tempted in the past to eat whatever we wanted and to laze around, it seems like the team is staying right on track.
i rested yesterday, but just came back from a 4 mile jog (the first one in weeks without the stroller, so my pace was much faster too!), so my total is
12.5/25
halfway there, even though i too have no idea where i'm actually going!

I've really been pushing it since I landed on the east coast:
8/28 - 2 miles (was still a little jet-lagged)
8/29 - 7.5 miles - got lost and walked more than I meant to!
8/30 - 5.5 more miles walking, but will be on break tomorrow! So, that's 15/25.

yahoo for fridays and knowing that there is a day of rest ahead for me! since i knew that i didn't have to worry about how sore i would be tomorrow (no therapy appointments to deliver my son to on weekends!), i pushed it as hard as i could and beat my personal best distance in 1 day by almost double! i jogged for another 5 miles, bringing my total to:
8.5/25
and now to stretch and relax so that my body doesn't revolt!

Ive no idea where Beaufort or Cedar Point are as I live in UK! At least I know the milage so I can join in!!!
Walked 3/25miles today (& probably more as been on the go all day BUT will stick with the 3 to start with as that was main exercise!

checking in with this morning's miles for me & my poor overworked jogging stroller:
3.5 jogged / 25 to beautiful carolina
i have to do another kid-delivery this afternoon, so i will have even more miles to log later. i hope that everyone is gearing up for a long weekend that will still include some mileage!

p.s whoever picked this location is a star! i have never been to the carolinas, but i am a massive duke basketball fan, so that is an extra motivator for me - is durham near the coast at all?

Hi everyone, since the first virtual walk went so well and so many are finished I figured we should go for another one. This one is a little longer but also by the beach emoticon . We are going to walk the coast of North Carolina. From Beaufort to Cedar Point, NC.If anyone has ideas for the next walk let me know. Total miles for this walk is 25 miles. We will keep increasing the length of each walk if you want to continue this challenge. I'm in as long as anyone wants to participate.
