Pamela - I absolutely do NEED to learn patience, and while I realistically do NOT really expect the weight to just go away, ONE or TWO pounds after two weeks of careful, healthy eating combined with drinking my 8+ glasses of water, and exercising a MINIMUM of 60 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training EVERY day - some days that was actually 6 hours of cardio between pool and land. There ought to be a TINY weight loss. My measurements are overall still the same but my waist is a bit smaller and my shorts now zip up where they couldn't even CLOSE at the start. I am afraid I am just griping. I KNOW that I need patience and I keep asking God to give it to me - NOW!!!!!

We must all remember - and this is hard for all of us - that we didn't gain weight overnight - it will not leave us overnight either! Drink lots of water - eat quality calories - get 45-60 minutes of cardio plus strength training - measure yourself! Just think this might be a good way of learning patience!

Of course I don't trust my scale. Dang it anyhow though, there are THREE different scales that I weigh on regularly - mine at home (even does body fat %), the "doctor's scale thing" that the personal trainer at the fitness center uses, and the scale in the dressing room at the gym where I change to go swimming. They all LIE consistently and agree within a couple of ounces - could be difference between naked and clothed, etc.

I have lost a lot of weight a number of different times and this is the first time that the first week or two did not result in a number between 3-10 pounds LOST. If I only had a little weight to lose it would be different, but for heaven's sake, I still have in excess of 100 pounds to shed. I know that even before I started the program, I was working out in the pool and such, and not eating TOTALLY out of control, but still, ONE or TWO pounds would be the LEAST I would expect to see after two weeks of really changing things up and exercising more and eating less, etc. Also I DO KNOW that fat weighs less than muscle - but I do NOT believe that I have built 5 pounds of muscle PLUS the 3-10 pounds of weight that I should have lost - that would imply I had gained between 8-15 pounds of muscle. Not likely!!

Thanks for the support this is really hard for me to be patient and wait for results. I mean I made the decision, I made the right moves, and that weight - especially that FAT weight - should just be running away from me like rats from a sinking ship, not clinging onto my body like leeches.

I definitely do not trust my scale it has confused, frustrated and disappointed. My tape measure has done the exact opposite.

I had kinda the same problem. I stayed exactly the same at my weigh-in, despite working out daily and staying in my calorie range (I did go over by about 100 calories one day). I knew I felt less bloated, so I measured, and the tape did indeed show almost 1/2" off my waste (I'm sure it was all that water bloat!). So yes, I agree with Pamela - measure, measure, measure!

Do you trust your scale? Do you think it is accurately weighing you? That does seem a bit odd - but your muscle mass weighs more than the fat mass does - be sure and measure yourself.

This week has been a MAJOR challenge for me. I have been very faithful at sticking to my eating/nutrition goals. I have exercised faithfully - and done both a variety of cardio and strength training exercises - switching around so I was not overworking or risking hurting individual muscles. I even did extra just moving and staying active activities almost every day - and a minimum of 60 minutes per day.

Here I am though, on Saturday morning - nearly TWO weeks after I started - and not only haven't I LOST, I have actually GAINED 5 pounds since I joined. This just doesn't seem right and it SURE doesn't seem FAIR. But, I know that if I keep on doing it right I should eventually see changes in the scale - I mean I have about 100 pounds to lose and so I should be seeing something by now. Oh yeah, I drink plenty of water, come to the boards for support, and and also seeing both a dietitian and a personal trainer where I work out (part of a weight management plan by my insurance company). I KNOW I am on the right track, but it sure FEELS wrong not to see even a tiny bit of scale support.

So far, so good. Gotten more than 10 minutes everyday. Just can't let myself give in to the little voice in the back of my head that says "Come on, you've been good all week. You can take one little day off..."

Okay - this week's challenge is to get at least 10 minutes of cardio every day this week. It is recommended that we get 30-45 minutes daily of cardio - that means it needs to get your heart rate up so that you will see some benefits.

If you have been used to working out, then commit to getting 30 minutes every single day. I know that I get at least 45 minutes of exercise every day and I feel so much better for doing it.

But, at least get 10 minutes a day - I bet you don't stop with 10 minutes though. You will never regret the time you spend working out.
