I had the cat scan, but I'm having a colonoscopy on November 17, so I'll start radiation after that. My doctor said that as long as they started within four months after my chemo I'd be fine. So I get about a month off before I have to start it up again.

Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and you may even decide you need one!

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named 'Lucky.' Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing.

Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's other favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box. ;

It hap pened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease....in fact ,she was just sure it was fatal.

She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders. The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him. The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death.

The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable.

Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home , Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap. Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed.

When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem. She was covered, literally blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned! While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love.

Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every day. It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure.

Remember....live every day to the fullest. Each minute is a blessing from God. And never forget....the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards They are the ones that care for us.

If you see someone without a smile today give them one of yours! Live simply. Love seriously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God

I'm fighting off a sinus headache tonight; weather is changing again from warm and sunny to cold and rain. I have my eucolyptus gel candle a friend made for me sitting on my candle warmer now.

Good morning everyone,
Thankyou so much for your kind thoughts and wishes. I am feeling much better after weeks of being under par. The diagnosis was very welcome as you begin to worry and think all sorts of things.
It is much easier to breathe...and it doesn't hurt!

I haven't exactly been following my programme but I am trying to get back to it properly. It's just so frustrating when I feel so tired if I try to do anything, I feel about ninety.
In fact my M-in-L is ninety two and has more 'get up and go' than me!! but it will take time, I know that, but it doesn't stop me from wanting to do it!!

I hope to be online a bit more now, I just need to catch up on posts, and there are lots of them..

Mom2cat, I'm glad that it wasn't a cold - that can feel miserable, but I'm sorry that your allergies are still aggrevated as that's no fun either. Praying for you!

Cindy, those sniffles I had never actually turned into a cold, for which I am thankful, but my allergies are still bothering my eyes. I think it will take a good hard freeze overnight to get rid of all the pollen.

Martha-Ann; I was told years ago I have IBS; it's mostly under control now, but I do have occasional flare ups when under stress or if I eat the wrong thing. There is a Spark Team for that too; you can find the link on my page. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I'm feeling a little better now. I've finished with the tests I was having and I've been told I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, jaundice and a viral chest infection which is the reason I've been feeling so tired.

Hi, I had the 2nd mammogram today. I go back in 6 months for another one. While I was waiting for the ultrasound that I didn't know had been scheduled, they sent the x-rays 50 miles away to the radiologist who read them and decided I didn't need the ultrasound. Internet can be so fantastic sometimes. I didn't have to wait days for the results.

Thank you Hope :) I am not so worried about the mass on my thyroid as I am the leasions on my liver and kidneys. Compaired to the others the thyroid is an easy fix. I to am praying that the leasions turn out to not be so. Only an Octriotide scan will tell. Carcinoid cancer works a bit different than most other cancers as when it moves to your liver it is more than likly incurable. However you can still live for years with treatments and medication, however not rediation or chemo. It usually dose not respond well.
Sorry to be wordy... It is a complicated one LOL....

DCorey I will pray for you and pray that everything is benign. Hope for the best and maybe just a little discomfort for a while. I had a goiter on my thyroid but they gave me progesterone and never thought of surgery. Its still there and they still run tests once a year but nothing like fatigueness like I had before. Its been fine and that was 10 years ago. Hope

Hey everyone.....Well I don't post much at least not recently... Things have been really weird lately. I have been going through testing again. Well and they have found some things and now I don't know what to expect. I had my thyroid scanned cause of hyperthyroid and they found a mass.... Now they suspect that what they thought were cysts on my liver might actually be lesions (or small tumors). I also have some on my kidney as well...
I have an appointment with a specialist on Tuesday. We will see what she wants to do and if I need more scans. So here we go again...

The hospital called and the dr.reading my mammogram wants more pictures of the left breast. Of course nobody can tell me anything and the 1st appt.open isn't until 10/9. So now I have to patiently wait.

I looked at our son today and man! I think he's grown even taller! He's already taller than me, but he looks even taller today! He's a hoot: I asked him what he's been eating and he said he put Miracle Grow on his food! ....and then he smiled really big at me! ha ha ha ha ha ha He's soon gonna be as tall or taller than his dad (my dh)! It's all good - he's having fun teasing his dad about who's gonna be taller!

Glad you are feeling better Cindy, and that your 6 month check up was great Carolyn!

I get a Zometa infusion and a Faslodex shot once per month. Have to get my blood checked the week before, with the Zometa, they have to keep an eye on the kidney function. So far, everything is working; I've been on this regimen since April 2007. Just had my blood drawn this past Tuesday, this time they are also checking my vitamin D levels. Not too worried about that, but I do hope it is in the normal range. I will find out on the 30th.

Had a tough day yesterday - really felt the pressures of things going on in our lives; by the afternoon time I was feeling better. I'm feeling encouraged even more today. Thanks for all of your prayers and encouragement! I really appreciate it so much! GOD IS OUR REFUGE!

Myself, I am feeling well. In 2004 my ovarian cancer was found in stage one and found after surgery, after my ovary was already out! I never had to go through radiation nor chemotherapy. I have check ups every six months and I am happy to report that last week I had my six month checkup and all was clear!
