Elise (that is a beautiful name),

I would love to chat back and forth with you. If I'm going to stay motivated, I need to be constant with this site and log on as much as possible.

Are there certain exercises or "active" things you would like to do? Maybe we could come up with some sort of challenge for each other, that we could do every day or throughout the week?

Where do you live? I moved to Arizona two years ago from Ohio.

Ugh, just writing this is making me regret the (light) beer and boneless buffalo wings I had for dinner just an hour ago... maybe I should hit up the treadmill in my apartment complex :(

Let me know what you think!

Sara

I'm relatively new as well. I'm trying not to gain. I live in Maine where the winters are long and the summers are short. I work all shifts throughout the week, so getting a set sleep pattern is out of the question. I'm also getting married this August and am trying not to add on the 'stress' pounds. Thankfully the fiancee is really helpful. He and I have been going to the gym together three times a week for about an hour at a crack. Then on a non-gym day I've started taking a Yoga class, which has really helped me. It's kinda 'me time' constructively. The Yoga has gotten me feeling more in 'wedding shape'. I have my final dress fitting in a few weeks. I wish you the best of luck with your goals and congrats on the engagement. emoticon

It takes five seconds to smile and be nice. It takes the same time to be mean, so SMILE and be nice.

I am the same as you are, I am not a heavy weight prob normal for my size etc, I'm 9 stone, don't know how much that is in pounds. Though is the highest I've ever been.

I am recently engaged too, i really just want to tone up I guess. I joined this site a month ago i think, roughly, as my mum signed me up, basically am only going on to collect points at the mo, heh. I was checking what I was eating but found i was just avoiding doing that on days which I didn't eat very well.

I really need to gain motivation to do some exercise. I am a student also, in my 3rd yr of 4 studying to become a teacher. I just feel so lazy, need something to kick me into starting to do exercise and to start a routine I guess.

Any advise for me?

Emma.

Hey there. You seem to have a very positive attitude, and your light is infectious. Your post put a smile on my face. I think we're very much in the same place in terms of fitness goals. As it is, my body weight is fine, the number is a thing not to matter. But to get healthier in a lifelong way is a big goal of mine, and though this site is helping, having a buddy would be even more helpful. Would you like to chat back and forth, perhaps? Encourage each other?

Elise

Hello!

I just joined this sight too! I too am looking just to be healthier! I recently spoke to my doctor and she said that being physically active is more important than being at a certain weight or looking a certain. I for a long time was fixated on a number, but she told me just to exercise more! So I totally know where your coming from! And I commend you for it!

Yay for getting married! I am recently engaged! Consistency and finding time is hard for me too! I'm a music major, so between rehearsals, performances and projects I find exercising hard to do too! However, when you get in the habit, it's hard to give up! It's like you have to have it!

Maybe start out small like a short 15-20 minute walk 3 times a week and work your way up. Apparently the ultimate goal (according to my doctor) is 45 minutes to an hour or exercise 5 times a week!

I don't know where you are from so, meeting up to hike would be difficult but feel free to email me! I could use an encouraging buddy too!

Hi! I'm exactly the same way! I'm a graduate student in California and I joined this site a few months ago on another one of my "trying to get healthy" stints. I've actually been a little better about going to the gym and what not but this week has been terrible. I'm big on sweets--soda, candy, cake etc-- and while I also don't have much weight to lose (I'm usually between 125 and 130), I want to be healthy. I find that when I'm in school, as soon as I have assignments due, I totally skip going to the gym and I eat sweets because they make me feel good while I'm working til the wee hours of the morning. I'd love to help keep each other motivated. Let me know if you're interested :) Good luck to you!

I believe I signed up for SparkPeople in February and this is the first time I've actually used the site. I feel good when I add my name to the ever-growing list of 'get fit' sites, but never seem to follow through on the plans.

I am not overweight, but I'm not fit, either. Looking at me, you'd probably roll your eyes and tell me to go eat a carrot or something. Don't worry, I'm used to it. But seriously, I enjoy exercising and eating healthy but I've not been able to make it my lifestyle. Cravings! Beer, icecream, pasta!

I hope to find a buddy who will motivate me to move more and think more positively about who I am. I don't want to be a skinny girl anymore. I want to be toned and fit.

My life is very busy. I'm a reporter for a newspaper in Arizona, which means my schedule is all over the place. On top of that, I'm getting married in seven weeks, taking graduate classes and will be moving into a brand new home at the end of July.

Finding time to work out is my biggest hurdle, along with being consistent in exercising.

I'd love to find a buddy to either message back and forth with or meet up with to go hiking or something of the sort.

Send me a note and we'll chat!
