On the fruit trees, make sure you wash them really well before bringing them inside. Can use insecticide oils but not spray on the leaves because of the fruit. Doubtful that the fruit will ripen inside due to our houses being so dry and lack of full sun. Sorry to pass on that news to you. Now if you have a Sunroom, you might be okay but it will need heat if temps drop very low in your area. Hope they do okay and you can put them out a bit earlier so they can grow the fruit sooner.
I know someone on the DIY that talked about haybale growing---but it was potatoes that she grew in them. There are some articles on the internet that you could go to for more information.

Do you get cold weather? If so you will need to move them inside soon. Hope you have a sunny warm spot. Will have to research more to post on care but no time at the moment. Will try to get back in a couple of days.

A question for all you gardeners
I bought a lime, lemon and orange tree from walmart...you know...the potted ones...I had them sitting by my porch since early spring...Well...here it is...early fall, and I have buds on all of them!
The orange tree has at least a dozen blossoms (they smell so good) the lemon has several and the lime has also started budding...
How should I care for them at this point?

I haven't used it but I do crush eggshells and put them in the bottom of holes and then sprinkle them on top, too. It is recommended to get your soil tested to see what you really need to amend it.

Booberry , the little flowers are great, but it looks to me like a weed. I hope it isn't because if it is, those flowers will produce more ! Let us know when you find out!

Booberry, how tall is that plant? I can't tell from the picture. That might help in identifying it.

Momwants---clay is difficult to amend---will take you a while to really get it to where you need it for growing veggies. I recommend raised beds---if you want to do traditional in the ground veggies garden, start small and each year you can expand it a bit---like I said, it is difficult so that is why I suggest start small. MG classes are great---but if you don't want to do the whole course, find out the week they talk about amending the soil and go to that class. And ask when they have classes at the Extension office there locally that would help you---and they are great about helping you understand what you would need to do and probably have some great handouts that really do pertain to your particular area.

If you have a garden center near you then you can ask them. Not sure what that is.

Look into the raised beds, have been hearing good things about them and it seems that you can control the weeds better that way too.

We have moved from CA {where I was finally able to create loamy soil from clay soil} to across the USA to TN ~where we seem to have bedrock in our soil and it is also clayey. I am planning to go to a Master Gardeners set of classes to learn how to work with it . In the meantime, I would like some help!~ I am in Middle TN where it is Zone 7a ,I'm told.
I want to start another veggie garden in the Spring. I had an enclosed bed with not much luck~ some strawberries. I have tried lasagna gardening ,also with not much luck~ some small butternut squash, very small watermelons, some beans, a green pepper or two,~only the cherry tomatoes do well. I have composted somewhat.
I have not had raised beds, although a gardener @ our local fair said raised beds in cinder blocks was the way to go~we do get rain ~though this last year we have had a bad drought. I was thinking to get a tractor to plow the land. What is your take on it?
