I'm another fan of Jillian Michael's 30 day shred - it definitely kicks your butt! But my favorite DVD right now is Crunch: Belly, Butt & Thighs Bootcamp. I borrowed it from Blockbuster.com and have had it for a couple weeks now. TaeBo moves a little too fast for me.

I'm bumming...I put Jillian's 30 day shred dvd on my netflix queue and it said long wait. I guess it's a good sign though. People want to hang on to that dvd! I'll have to try the library I guess.

Wow, a lot of enthusiasm for Jillian's shred dvd...I've put it at the top of my queue now. I just did the tae bo cardio on utube...being divided up into 5 different videos isn't a problem. Plus I did the tae bo basic thinking it was going to go over moves, but it was more of a warm up, so I got 2 warm ups in, not a bad thing.

I've been doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, and I really like it. It does have some high impact (jumping jacks, etc.), but you could modify it if you needed to. It kicks your butt, but it's only 20 minutes long, so it's pretty easy to fit in. Just don't expect to go out afterwards without cleaning up-you will probably be sweating buckets, like I do!

Hello:

I have 4 dvd's from Jari Love...ripped & chiseled and ripped 1000 (burns around 1000 calories in 70 minutes)...they are my 2 favorites now. The 1000 dvd incorporates weight lifting and cardio alternating between the two.... a really good advanced workout!

Oh I love walking, but I am just trying to get recommendations for workout dvd's from folks. There are SO MANY that I thought it would be good to get some that people actually like. When I use Netflix instant it doesn't cost me anything, but I will check out the library and my local good will. The 1 dollar store I know doesn't carry workout dvd's...but there aren't that many here in Hawaii.

Which ones did you like, Jenntinysam? Which ones didn't you like?

Thanks everyone for your ideas, I have gone to netflix and put them on my queue (if they have the dvd) and I am probably going to investing in Turbo Jam. But the more recommendations the better, I think. Variety is good because it keeps me from getting injured and plateauing (hmm...not really a word) and keeps me coming back!

I am pumped up to try these new suggestions. I taped some of the FitTV shows so that I can fast forward through the commercials (yea, I don't have a dvr unfortunately) so I am on my way.

I went to dollar tree and picked up 7 of 8 fitness dvds for a dollar each. I love them. They work all parts of your body.

I also have a few others that I do not like.

My favourites are Jillian Michaels "30 Day Shred" and Billy Blanks Tae Bo dvds. I have all the older ones on VHS that they don't make anymore. I just ordered his "Ultimate Tae Bo" the other day because it looked really good. If you like step aerobics, Kathy Smith has a couple of really great dvds. Her "Buns & Thighs" one is good as well as "Power Step".

I know how hard it can be to find a good exercise dvd. I've bought a bunch that sucked over the years. Check out this site and you can watch clips and read reviews of the dvds you're interested in. That might help you find one that will suit you.

I like the Firm workouts, as well.
If you have a library card, try looking at your local library. It's nice to be able to "test drive" something before you buy!

I started doing The Firm with my daughter, it incorporates strength training and cardio. It is quite a workout but they do have a beginner level.

I have an old "Buns of Steel" step aerobics tape that I still love. I also love my "Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred"- great short workout that will leave you begging for mercy.

I also borrow exercise DVDs from the library regularly. That lets me mix it up without spending a ton of money. I also have a couple of yoga DVDs that I'm trying to add to my workout rotation.

So many workouts... so little time. emoticon

hi, I like "tank top arms, bikini belly ,boy shorts bottom by minna lessig. the chapters are easy to link together to do separate workouts and still warm up and cool down or there is a total body toning chapter for when you are in a hurry. this only takes around 20 mins including warmup and cool down or you can do tank top arms one day, bikini belly another and boy shorts bottom another or put them all together for a great workout if you have time. emoticon

Turbo Jam is an amazing program that really burns a lot of calories. You can do it high impact or low impact, the choice is yours. I love the fact that it is fun to do. You can buy it from the primary distributors (www.milliondollarbody.com or www.beachbody.com) or from amazon.com or there are individual workouts available on ebay. Check out the beachbody website and look up TurboJam and there are videos there so you can see what it looks like and the music it uses. :)

I love "I Want Those Abs!" It is a dvd from the lady in the buns of steel videos. I was doing this video twice a week as my core training. At the time I exercised 6 days a week, always resting Sundays. I alternated Monday and Thursday was legs. Tuesday and Friday was abs. Wednesday and Saturday was arms. I did different aerobic machines each day. Man, my abs were fabulous. Right now I don't have the space to do it. But when I get my own house I am definately adding it back. Belly dancing is also fun. And I love kickboxing-but I went to actual classes for those.

All of the biggest looser workouts are good. I expected them to be easy when I got my first one and it really wasn't. You can mix and match the workouts to fit you. I own all of them and I rotate them out. I also throw in some Denise Austin, various Tae Bo's (hour long) treadmill work and some belly dancing. The Belly Dancing is not very taxing but it does work the muscles a little different and it is fun.

I know what yoga program you are talking about. I actually DVR it and fast forward through the commercials. They (commercials) are very annoying but the music and the yoga instructor are great!

With The Bar Method, don't cuss me out when you are doing it...it hurts. I will warn you, you will FEEL the moves even though you only move a smidge. It's like child birth. By the time you scream out it's time to stretch and it feels so much better! :o)

Cool, I just looked up The Bar Method Body Designer Sculpting on Netflix and they have it...only not instant but ya can't have everything. I've put it at the top of my queue.

I found the FitTV channel and have looked at the schedule and I'll check out some of their shows...but what about commercials? I was just watching a yoga show and it seemed quite fast moving...but it had commercials and that seems like a bummer.

Thanks for the suggestions so far! I am psyched to try out these new cardio suggestions.

I highly recommend The Bar Method Body Designer Sculpting. This is the BEST I've ever done. The most you use is a chair and hand weights for a couple of exercises. You can actually do the arm exercises without weights and it's still effective.

I don't know anything about this website, but it shows the DVD I'm talking about.

You know, I never thought about looking up the netflix online for workout dvd's. Hmmmmm Will have to look at that in a bit. Since we moved we haven't gotten digital tv again, so I miss the Fit Tv on demand stuff. I used to do the belly dancing and a few others. One day soon. :)

The videos that I have and do often are:

Lately the way I have gotten my 30 minutes of cardio in for our bikini bootcamp challenge was to find a dvd on my Netflix under the instant category and do one. I have been doing the same one for a little over a week now and I would like to change to a different one ...for variety. I would welcome suggestions for dvd's that people like.

I am looking for a low impact cardio workout that doesn't rely on resistance bands. I have a stability ball so videos that incorporate the stability ball are okay. I like ones that have some choreography to follow...salsa dancing, etc would be fun for a change.

I have put a tae bo video on the top of my netflix and again I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation ...there are so many different ones that Billy Blanks has made.

What about the biggest loser: the workout DVD? Any opions?
