Threw in another new to me exercise today. Not sure what it is called now but was a kind of torso twist with arms extended out in front of me the whole time.

10/26: Good Active & Wii fit workouts again today. Included another new exercise: front shoulder raises with band. Building up some stronger arms this month.

10/25: My EA Active workout today included an exercise I'd not done before...or at least was so long ago that I don't remember ever doing it. It was squats with a heel/calf raise. I definitely felt the burn after today's workout.

10/17 - 19: Had some variety in exercise these couple of days. Hiking a bit around the vacation rental cabin (some steep hills) and then several hours of walking around town & through the Biltmore mansion another day.

The rest of the time, my only exercise was exercising my jaws with all the talking. LOL

10/23-24: Getting back to my Wii Fit & Active workouts, trying to keep it mixed up as to exactly which activities I do.

10/16 - did another day of EA Active challenge. Trying to do some extra calorie burning in prep for my weekend away. Should have some extra walking / hiking this weekend to help balance things out; but no access to my usual videos or Wii 'games'.

Kind of ironic isn't it, MONTANAGAL1? We work so hard to lose weight and then we look for more weight to carry and lift to further improve our fitness. Hmmmm LOL

Yesterday was Day 13 (I think) of my 30 day challenge on EA Active. I'm really enjoying the variety and extra intensity this has put into my routine. I've done more working out than usual the past weeks because of a challenge I'm in on another team (we have to add up exercise hours amongst our sub-team). As the challenge winds down, I either need to find something else to motivate me to work out as much or, perhaps better, I will try to pick up intensity to get same value from less time. We'll see...

I packed my backpack with about 20 pounds for my morning dog hike. Wow, what a difference!!

Sheenadee, I do have weights and resistance bands. I think I'll dust off the weights and dig out the bands. You know, I think I'll take my back pack with some weight on the dog hikes.

Thanks for the suggestions. (I usually hate using weights, can't explain it, I just do.)

Hi MONTANAGAL1 - You do have a good workout there. I especially like your long dog hikes...so good for you and the dogs too. I wonder if you might put in some different strength training to change it up a bit. Maybe using small weights if you have them, or with a resistance band. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!

Speaking of resistance bands, I've really been using mine the past week. Included a new one today: lateral shoulder raises or something like that.

I've been thinking about it, but haven't added anything different. I'm doing all of the same...I've got to figure out a bit of a twist.

Kind of stumped, I know variety would be good, but I like what I'm doing right now which includes: 2-45 minute dog hikes, 30-45 cardio on treadmill, and pilates. . . if any of you have suggestions, I'm open

The last 3 times I've done my strength workouts I've used the stability ball. I was surprised at how much more difficult it is to use the ball. I can really feel it in my glutes and I get a lot more extension on the presses and flyes. I am even doing the pushups off the ball.

10/1-2 Dog Walks only, just because I pulled something in my butt and had to take it kind of easy.

Saturday I chopped fire wood for 2 hours

Sunday, I couldn't feel my arms, so I had to rest again.

Today: 2-1/4 Miles (running) Dog Walk and Coach Nicole's Butt Blaster.

10/1: Day 2 of EA Sports Active 30-day challenge. 30 mins of good workout!

10/2: Day 3 of Active. Also did crunches & back extensions using the ball. As always, have to get somem Wii Fit in also today.

I'm going to start doing some of my strength training exercises on the stability ball instead of on the step or on the floor. I want to start incorporating more balance and core work when I can.

Using the ball when doing chest presses, chest flyes, pull-overs, etc. adds another level of difficulty. I'm not quite ready to do push-ups off the ball, but may give it a shot.

Hello all!

Let's get October started with some good variety in our exercise routines, maybe at least one different or new thing each day.

In addition to my regulars, my personal plan is to do at least one ball or band exercise each day this month. SparkPeople has a lot of demos and videos to choose from if you need ideas. I think I'm going to work my way down their list of ball & band exercises one by one until I've done them all.
