Well done Dave; for recognizing the temptation and for finding substitutes.

F8, you bring up two interesting points: one, being forced to "clean our plates" (eating what was made and put in front of children), and growing up with very little.

Making children eat what is given to them is slightly brutish, because it's forcing the children to ignore their bodies and not stopping when they're full. Is this part of the obesity problem today?

I grew up with very little and was forced to eat what I was given. I offered to have my food mailed to the "poor children in (name the current political third world country on the news at the time)." It got to the point that I was fed the same meal (not heated back up) for two full days. I didn't eat. My father gave in. To this day I abhor lima beans, and still can't drink milk. Surprise, my family is lactose intolerant. I am allergic to dairy. My mother couldn't drink it unless it was iced cold. Shouldn't she have listened to her body?

But I was more intune with my body regardless of what my family tried to enforce. Being forced to eat what my parents liked did not appeal to me.

Also, the "picky" part of my eating, not liking onions or oranges or milk, (were due to allergies), and beer in just about everything my father cooked, or charred meat off the grill, (cancer on a plate, eat up), were not to my taste. It's okay, their abuses made me a better parent.

Growing up, I was thin, but also slightly malnourished. A lot of children today are obese and still malnourished. Serving sizes today are substantially larger than our bygone eras, 30+ years? The food most certainly is NOT healthier. We are doing our children, our future, a grave disservice.

Thank you for posting that. It really got me thinking. So how many of us were forced to clean our plates?

I have to avoid Sbarro stuffed Pizza and Cinnabon. They have an odd flavor. They taste..... oh yeah, they taste like more. I have to avoid most of those "I like them too much" foods, but I do have go-to substitutes for them.

Growing up you ate what mom fixed and at the end of the payday it didn't pay to be picky.

lol, Jackie!

I don't really know of any foods that really bother me.
I seem to do very well with eggs, especially boiled ones.

I don't have any problems with food except eating too much of it.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

MARYALICE, is it the actual animal, or the chemicals pumped into them or the unnatural diet they're fed?

I can't eat anything that came from an animal. I double over in cramps.

There are some people that think there aren't bad foods, that everything is fine in moderation. However, I cannot consume dairy, for me it is not just bad food, but poisonous to my body.

Do you have foods that are bad for your body?
And what foods do you know are quite good for your body?
