Sure I'll share. But you're getting it in poem form!

Fitness is Nothing Without Consistency
By Susanski Feb 8, 2018

Iím not consistent -where do I begin?
Well, I say start with what makes you grin.
Walk in place or around the block-
Put just TEN MINUTES on that clock.
Get out the skirt and bobby socks
Dance for ten minutes on that clock.
Walk or Dance or Ride away-
But do it for ten minutes EVERY day.
Thatís it, thatís your goal
Rather simple, but VERY cool!
Just ten minutes and youíre a success
Ten, each day, but give it your best!
It wonít be long until youíll want more
And exercise wonít be such a chore.
Changes will come and energy, too
Muscles will start bursting forth on you!
Yes, just once a day, then maybe twice
And someday THREE times would be nice
But the best and easiest plan of all
Is simply this: Aim Small, Miss Small.
Set those goals you KNOW you can reach,
And get to work! (Thatís what I preach!)
Canít eat FIVE fruits? Just eat one more
Canít drink EIGHT cups, just drink four!
Canít walk 6 blocks? Just walk three
But get out and walk it regularly!
Consistency is such a worthy goal
Itís worth your HIGHEST weight in gold.
Being consistent is a worthwhile task
And just ten minutes per day is not too much to ask!

And remember this important key
Fitness is NOTHING without Consistency.

And we all lived happily ever after...

It's Worth Living.
It's Worth Giving.

F8, have you tried taking one thing you want to change and doing it for two weeks? Or taking small steps to get to the bigger step?

Linda, this is an easy fix. You are worth more than eating out of the package. Do you have special dishes you like to use? If not I highly recommend going to an antique shop and buying some things you like. They can be small sizes too, so you treat yourself like a guest and give small portions. Use a nice linen napkin, nice utensils, etc. Maybe even put on some music. Whatever makes you feel special.

I have dishware I use for family gatherings, but I have a few fruit dishes in with my regular dishes that my son and I use more regularly. Of course we don't have a problem over eating fruit though do we? LOL

Set up the table. Yes it's more work, but seriously, you are worth it. And buy yourself some inexpensive flowers at the store if you don't have any at your home. (none of mine are in bloom, but I like to treat myself sometimes. and I justify it by not buying something else) But in some cases a bouquet of flowers is cheaper than toilet paper and we just flush that down the toilet. =/ (of course I don't skip toilet paper) LOL There's this Marie Callender's pie I used to like to buy for family gatherings and that thing costs like $9 or $10 and that's my bouquet of flowers right there.

Linda, Would it help to cut your snack in half or even less that way you would have more control?

Sandy, I got through ebbs and flows of motivation too. Mainly because I haven't had any results for my hard work and I'm frustrated. What's the point in watching what I eat if there aren't any results? And it's already been proven that when I exercise I gain weight. (the state walking should be interesting) emoticon

Have you tried working on making one healthy meal a day and then go from there? I'm juicing again for breakfasts. I am usually not hungry. Plus I've read that eating six meals a day causes our bodies to work harder raising insulin. I'm not even hungry enough to eat that much during the day. LOL But I think it may work for others.

My biggest weakness right now is motivation. I got out of the habit of preparing healthy meals & regular exercise, mainly because I couldn't do it. Now I am able to start back but just can't get going.

My biggest 2 weakness are not drinking enough water and when I decide to have a snack I can't stop until it's all gone.

When I was working out a aregular basis I drank plenty of water need to get back into the practice of working out need to start when I want a snack just jump on line and do genealogy instead of snacking

I could literally keep snacking all day long.

My solution to snacking is making up a trail mix of fiber rich cereal. I stick to the serving size of each cereal so it's easy to track. I use Cheerios, a Chex cereal and Fiber One Original....and THEN I add the tasty trail mix.
If I feel 'chocolatey' I add a small amount of plain m and m's. Even just 5 can do the trick.

This plan works FANTASTIC for me. I helps fulfills my fiber goal, it lets me munch and crunch, it fills my salt /chocolate craving ...but most importantly, it is VERY FILLING.

You can also serve it up to yourself, but eat it THROUGHOUT the day, instead of at just one session...same amount of calories, but longer lasting!

I make sure to drink very cold, refreshing water along with it. (normally, I would want pop with my snacks. but now I've learned to reserve pop for special days only.)

And we all lived happily ever after...

I've been spending about 75 minutes each evening playing an online bridge game. I don't eat during that time. Then I work on genealogy and if I don't get real serious I like a snack (about half the evenings) then I read to prepare myself for sleep and think about eating something little to tide me over...that is what I have to work on...I have some unusual trail mixes that I love but too much of it is not good.

I am determined to lose another 10 pounds and I have a pretty good handle on that...we'll see... I did lose 8 pounds since November. so gotta keep going on that...

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

Have you tried any thing to keep hands or mind off of the desire to snack? A hobby to keep hands busy that can't be around food? Do you have a treadmill?

Jackie, Are your bedtimes snack healthy? Could you replace them with healthy foods for two weeks and then replace that with water for two week?

I thought about getting a trike bike. It was so cool, but way too expensive. =/ What would motivate you to walk or swim?

One regarding eating, is that I grab a snack before going to bed. I think I convince myself that I won't eat for at least 7 more hours so must be sure to make up for that.

My other is exercise. DH mountain hikes twice a week 3 - 5 miles and bikes daily sometimes 20 miles and expects me to do similar. I have given up my bike although I've not fallen from it I've aged too much and It scares me. DH bought 3 other bikes, (over the past 4 years) trike like which I tired but didn't like. Even one with motor, but I didn't like them and they were returned, so we compromised that I would walk for my exercise. That was about a month ago and I've walked twice, about a forth of a mile or less...I still intend to walk when I have time, but I'm so busy being retired...Ya, too busy for exercise it seems...We also have a lap pool and leisure pool but I've not used them...(I grew up swimming, taught swimming, etc...) This is a back up exercise plan for me...

Marge is there a particular time you snack on these items or is it just any time?

Ironically I just finished having popcorn. My son and I occasionally have popcorn as it's good for fiber for you know helping things move along.

What is your weakness? a sweet tooth? craving salty foods? just eating too much? maybe it's not drinking enough water? or something else entirely?

Let's list what ever our issues are and find ways to replace them with healthier alternatives and give each other support.
