Jackie, that's interesting to think about. Though I think even in history, women have been known to pick up needle work while listening to the radio and it continued over to the TV, probably even before the radio. Perhaps sitting in front of the fire and listening to the man of the house read the Bible, they would have been doing needle work? What is the saying about idle hands?

This week I have consciously been eating half my prepared lunch and dinner meals. My ds and I usually sit at the table for breakfast and dinner. Lunch is up in the air because my son is homeschooled and isn't always hungry when I have it scheduled. Sometimes my lunch meal is also my dinner meal, but it depends on what I've made and whether he's going through a growth spurt. LOL

Anyway, I'm also still doing less computer time and have been doing a lot more crocheting and quilting than being on SP. I've also been doing more house chores. (cleaning ceiling fans, has intaled removing all of the blades and scrubbing to get them to the cleanliness I desire. OCD much?) I blame my mother. LOL

Even though I have gained four pounds this month, I'm still considering this a successful month in all other areas.

DH and I have our own timeline for breakfast and lunch and it is on our own. We both have activities that we adhere to.

But, we usually have our (healthy) dinner together although that seems to be our only TV time too. We are together all day most days and having dinner together isn't a time to talk more.

I've found in my age and circumstances or is it the changing world that I can't sit and just listen without doing something...I've given up movies because i don't want to waste time to just sit ...only watch TV when I can pick up needlework, mending or such to accompany it.

We do eat healthy meals on our own. I always have low calories snacks too.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I eat in front of the TV or the computer, but I do take my time when I eat. I try to stop when I get full. I do have a habit of snacking if I get bored, though.

I eat my meals at the table although sometimes I read. So I will challenge myself to not do this this week. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Since we are both retired we have gotten into the habit of eating in front of the TV. However, we portion out the food on our plates and then most of the time do not add second helpings. I try to eat more slowly, often putting my fork down between bites. And I try to cook only enough for one meal at a time; if a recipe is big, I refrigerate the leftovers quickly for a second meal instead of leaving them out to tempt us to eat more.

How quickly do you eat? Or do you eat in front of the TV or computer and then wonder, "where did the food go?"

This weeks challenge; eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and stop when you feel the heavy sigh of satisfaction. It may come before the meal is over.

Much success to everyone!
