Jackie, you have great-great? grandchildren? whoa. Did everyone have their children really young, you don't seem old enough to have gggrands.

It sounds like we're all pretty budget minded.

I exchange gifts with two of my 5 kids. They send me an assortment of gifts which I appreciate. The other three are busy with their own families, thoughtless, or out of habit of exchange. It has been no problem. If any of the three want to exchange I'm willing.

Money is not a problem for us now that we are retired. It may be if we live too long but I'll deal with it then :) or at least someone will...

A problem is our 4 gggrandchildren. I don't know what they have. I do know they live in a small apartment and do not have much...I bought them a big gift of tables and chairs one year and they were broken during the year...so I'm not interested in buying good or expensive stuff...So I'm back to books every year...however I know their ages but not their reading capabilities...just guess and each gets 2 books and a small stuffed animal...all mailed to them. Not what I'd prefer but that is how it is...

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I try to check my budget each year to see what I can afford and then I stick pretty close to that amount. We only have a small family and our wants are modest so I have no trouble staying in bounds. Also, we married late in life, so we keep our budgets, and our gift lists and card lists, and just about everything else separated. So my husband takes care of his boys, which helps me too.

Depending on how we are doing financially, each year we choose a certain amount for each child. We have NINE children to shop for! It's so fun. The one year we had ZERO money, Hubby and I gave away our precious childhood mementos to our kids. It was a great day.
I gave the music box that Hubby had bought me our first Christmas dating to one daughter. I gave my tall Tiffany Taylor doll , along with fabric and sewing supplies to my daughter who liked fashion and sewing that year. I gave my writing desk, filled with stamps and writing paper to my eldest daughter who had to be a penpal with her best friend who moved out of state. And I gave a ceramic powder puff, that looks like a comfy pink cushion, to my youngest daughter. My mom had made it for me. I turned it over and discovered the date. She had given it to ME, at the very age, I had given it to my youngest!!!!! That was cool!

The boys got something from their Dad.

Okay, LAUGHTER, RIGHT?

Well, today I was making Gramma P's Twister cookies. You cut the dough into slanted shapes and slice through the middle, then pull one end through the hole. Fry them up, then coat them in powdered sugar.

Today, we made 3 different kinds of baked goods. I had my 'almost 13' yr old bake the brownies, working near me.

As I pulled the final Twisters out of the frying pan, I decided to taste two of them that didn't quite retain their shape. I dip the one in my little red bowl of powdered sugar.
Hm...not as sweet as I thought it should be, considering I added some lemon and some sugar to the recipe to give it more of a BAM.
The aftertaste was nice and sweet.

A few minutes later I tried the second one. I began to dip it in the red bowl of powdered sugar. And suddenly.....light began to peek in my brain.....ya know...that powdered sugar doesn't look as snow white as it normally does.... IS IT FLOUUUUURRRR??????

Yep. Daughter had a red bowl of flour set near MY red bowl of powdered sugar!

Oh my word!!!! What if I had dipped ALLLLLL OF THEM IN IT!!!!?????

The cookies are for my Marine son who is stationed down in Georgia right now. Can you imagine all his friends saying....'hm, yeah, these are...um....tasty...yeah...'

I'm on a fixed income, and have a little part time job to help, but I only give gifts I make

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

I really don't have anyone left to buy for, but like others in this group, I am on a fixed income. With prices as high as they are today, budgeting for gifts is a must.

Yes, laughter is great. I try not to go crazy on gifts as I'm on a fixed income. Hope that all who receive a gift know that I love them so very much.

'Tis the season some people go a little crazy spending money on gifts.

Do you budget gifts?

I was thinking this week we can concentrate on spending and saving our money wisely. Money stresses are a huge concern and can cause health issues.

I hope everyone found laughter last week. I know I did and one morning I woke up and felt my stomach muscles were a little sore. Ah, good laughter gave me a good workout. =)
