I will see the orthopedist again next Wednesday. I'm hoping he suggests shots, not surgery.

Sandy, I know the feeling on the opiods. I had Vicodin for any time my feet or shoulder were in pain. Also had used for my back. But I was really afraid of getting addicted to something like that so only took one when I was really hurting.

Do they have any places that do the laser surgeries? Would that help your condition? I hope that there is something that will help you permanently.

I have something to take for it, but it is an opioid & I'm afraid of them. I've only taken them when I just had to & then I only allowed myself one a day instead of one every six hours.

Sandy, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Pain that isn't controlled is life changing.
I pray the orthopedist will put together a pain management plan for you. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jackie, I love this team. I took the other two teams when no one else would & they're doing OK now & I have recruited some good co-leaders. They will be fine.

Thanks for the encouragement. I do hope that the doctor can do something for the pain. I'm thinking along the lines of shots.

I sure hope there is no one on this team that is also on the team I let go of or the one that I am letting go of on January 1st. I didn't mean to sound like I don't care about them because I do. It was just time to make some changes for me.

Sandy, so happy you chose US to stay with ...You lead me onto creative thinking ...All the best when you see the Dr. we'll be here cheering you on!!!

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

5'1.5" - I shrunk from 5'4"
Summer: Minesota
Winter: Arizona (as of Dec. '08)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

Hugs.
I've spent my whole marriage with a man with back issues. It is VERY serious. Especially if you're the bread-winner. Very scary to not know the future.
Looking back, we can see that God 'had us'. And we've grown so much.
We've lived with very little money for quite a while and have learned such things as who your friends are, who actually prays for you, what kind of 'help' or 'assistance' really helps and what doesn't. Now that we are on the other side of those years of crisis, we have a much better ability in knowing how to help others.
One of the best comforts for my husband before his first surgery was a woman in our church who had the surgery already and supported Hubby with knowledge and first-hand experience to prepare him for what lay ahead.

Please feel free to vent your happy and sad moments, your worries and reliefs.
And be blessed.

Thanks, Everyone. I am so encouraged by all of you & love reading the different conversations ..... even when I don't take part in them. You all help me to stay focused on the positive.

I have turned over the leadership of one of my teams - Spark St. Louis - last month to my co-leader. I will be turning over the leadership of another one of my teams - Missourians - to my co-leader on January 1st. Sorry guys, I'm not doing that with this team. I enjoy it too much so you're all just stuck with me. Did the other teams to focus fully on this one.

Sandy, I do not know your whole story but I do know that the orthopedic field has come a long way in recent years. During my childhood my father had back surgery that entailed all kinds of pain and casts and didn't work anyway. Recently my husband had a similar surgery - easily done, minimal pain, no casts, and complete success. I've known other similar success stories too, so good luck, chin up (as they say), and best wishes to you.

What makes me smile or laugh? Happy little puppies - pictures, stories, or in my home.

Carol

I'm so sorry to hear you're still in pain. =( it's a challenge to not worry. The easy answer is "don't worry about things we can't control", but isn't that what causes the worry, because it is out of our control? What a conundrum.

Let us know how we can support you.

Thank you so much for this topic. It's just what I needed right now with all the pain & worry about what the orthopedist will say and/or do when I see him on the 20th. I will make it a point to remember this every day.

This link gives information of the benefits of laughter. emoticon

If you can't find something to laugh about, then try smiling. emoticon Start with just the mouth, then adding your whole face to it. You may feel silly, but really concentrate on it and see if you can feel it making a diference in your body? Then add laughter.

Please feel free to share some of the things that got you to smile and/or laugh. =)
