Sandy, I hope you aren't in too much pain. Did they put you on a wait list so if there is a cancellation they can fit you in earlier? That is the only way I got my last doctor appointment (doesn't help that everyone else wants the same doctor).

I have been getting on the computer for shorter periods some days, but get stuck on it sometimes, too. I have been getting more of the knitting done when I can figure out what I am doing. I got my first square done and am trying a second one. I already have done 3 starts. I used the swatch to figure the gauge like the book tells me. Had it all figured out to get the 8" width and got through the 5th row. Measured it and had it 10 inches instead of 8. The first time I lost a stitch. After the 10 inches I took out 6 stitches and now it is still 8 1/2 inches, but I think it is close enough.

I hope you're not in terrible pain Sandy. emoticon

If you're a type A personality I feel your struggle of needing to get stuff done and being caught up. But none of that is important if you're needing healing.

I hope there's a cancellation so you can see your doc before the 20th. Goodness that's too far away.

I confess I'm not doing really well.

Doctor has decided to send me back to the orthopedic doctor. First appointment his PA could get is December 20th. He prescribed Tylenol 3 with codeine in the meantime. I will be off work until I see the Orthopedist at least. I called in today to let them know that. My doctor said he would provide them with a letter if they needed it but so far they haven't requested it.

Now if it wasn't for the pain, I could get something done around here. It's long past due. At this point, I feel like I'll never get caught up again.

Darlene did you figure out what happened with the dropped stitch in the middle of your project?

I've taken out rows of work done If I find a mistake, even if it wouldn't be noticeable to most people. My ds and I just unraveled two projects I had stopped working on. They had been started years ago and I am better at the craft now, so into yarn balls they went. That's a wonderful pro to yarn. emoticon

Today is the last day of this weeks challenge. How is everyone doing managing their time?

My square had a problem and I had to start it over today. I don't know what I did, but there was a loop of dropped stitch in the middle of what I had done, but I had the right amount of stitches the entire time. Only that dropped one was coming out all through the pattern. I have no idea how I could still have the correct amount of stitches on it.

FANCYQTR, thank you for sharing. Congrats on finishing your knitted scarf too! Just like you I also recently finished a baby blanket. I made it for my neighbor's first grandchild. =) I received a thank you note today saying it matches the nursery. I was really pleased to receive the info and so happy they like it.
Sorry to hear you had some struggle. I think it's good to try knew stitches and push our skills so we have to keep our brain working. If I'm sitting around talking and crocheting I like the "no brainer" stitches, but when I'm making something new I like trying harder patterns.

Today was another productive day of less computer time. But son received a new DVD for an early gift and we're watching it now. It has to do with his future career, so it can be considered part school; delight directed learning. =)

It's only Tuesday, but whew, I'm tired.

STRNGNGRNDED, I learned to crochet the way you did for the most part. I've had to get some help a few times, but mainly learned from a book. just finished a baby blanket a couple weeks ago that was a little harder than I was used to. Now I am trying to learn to do knitting patterns. I knew how to do a row of knitting or a row of pearling, but I don't follow patterns too well. I did a heavy scarf pattern that I finished today and I'm starting a square for charity that I'm trying a new pattern that is pretty easy. I started going to a knitting club at the library where I got some help with the scarf. I would also like to learn other forms of crochet and tatting. At least it is keeping my brain working, I think.

I used to get yarn that I thought was pretty or nice, so I have a lot of it to learn with.

I didn't get on computer until about 9pm. But now I'm behind and didn't get to do my spark coaching before midnight. NUTS! But I did rearrange the front sun porch, threw some toys away, got a donation pile going and placed one Christmas Tree out there. I still did not exercise yet, don't even feel like it, but I will!

CARO488, I really want to learn to knit and tatt. I've heard youtube is the place to go. I taught myself to crochet when I was 19 from a book, so I think I can be taught. LOL

yesterday, I cleaned out a box of yarn and organized it. (I'm using the box to condense for smaller boxes of items headed to the local goodwill store). Today was even better for getting chores done and less time on the computer.

Hope everyone has a successful week and finds their extra "ten minutes." emoticon

I want to get working on my tree. This is computer time but handled differently.

I've not worked on my tree for a couple of months because I want to clear my computer of "junk time". When the junk is done I will work on my tree...but, the junk never seems to get done...and that is my goal...maybe I should just skip the junk or hit the delete button...

I didn't mention walking ...cuz I avoid that so maybe I'll add that to my should do for at least 10 minutes a day...I wonder if I can find an extra 10 minutes...???.
I only watch tv when I have something else I'm doing - no problem there.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

5'1.5" - I shrunk from 5'4"
Summer: Minesota
Winter: Arizona (as of Dec. '08)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

Okay, I will organize my computer time better.
I will use spark for my w/o videos, but I will then wait until close to the evening for checking my emails and sparking. In it's place I will be more active or productive in the areas I've been procrastinating in.

I don't babysit this week, so I plan to catch up on some books I'm behind on, so I can re-shelf them or donate them.
I will also spend some time crocheting some baby blankets for my local pregnancy support center- but only AFTER I've been on my feet for awhile getting some things done.

And we all lived happily ever after...

Like CARO4888, I do my other things while watching TV, but that also includes the computer. I can easily leave the TV to do other things, but I need to cut the computer time because I get going on it and forget everything else I need to do. I totally lose track of time when I'm on the computer.

My TV time is also my reading time, my knitting time, and my tatting time. But I do need to cut back on my computer time...

This is a great challenge & one that most of us - including me - really need. I definitely need less time on the computer & have been working on that. Thanks.

Well folks how is everyone doing? Was November healthier than October?

This week let's concentrate on less time on whatever consumes our time, be it TV, computer, phone?

How much you cut back will be up to you.
