1. Identify the problem. Ex. I can't control my cravings for chocolate. Put a 0-10 number on the intensity.
2. Use a set-up statement 3x while rubbing "sore spot" of tapping karate chop point.
Ex. Even though I can't want to eat and eat and eat chocolate, I deeply accept myself.
I accept myself even though I want to eat chocolate until there's no more chocolate in the house.
Even though I can't seem to stop eating chocolate, I deeply and completely accept myself.
3. Do at least 1 round of tapping something like "this chocolate problem." Use your intuition to see if you need more. Do at least one round of "I accept myself." Then do at least one round of alternately saying a negative statement at a meridian point and a positive statement at the next meridian point and so on.
4. Tune in and rate your intensity. If there is still some craving, follow the above procedure but use "this remaining chocolate craving".
5. It's important to tap to a 0 and then tap away any tailenders that might come up also.

The pain passes ~ only the beauty remains...

Then maybe research ideas on the emofree.com website about tapping for pain so you'll be able burn more calories.

I don't have any intense feelings any more or issues. I eat when I am hungry. I have treats, but I eat some of it. Ice cream stays in the fridge for weeks. Chocolate goes away slowly. My biggest issue is discomfort with walking, pain with exercise, a sit-down job, so I really don't burn enough off anymore to lose weight.

If weight is from overeating, overeating is usually caused by anxiety or not being in touch with our body.

You would use a set-up statement like,
even though I have this anger/frustration/grief/anxiety/ about . . . I deeply and completely accept myself.

Do the set-up statement 3 times and tap on the meridian points with the reminder phrase. Stop, evaluate, and do the reminder phrase until intensity is 0.

If food cravings is the issue, you use even though I have this craving for chocolate chip cookies (or whatever), I deeply and completely accept myself. You follow the procedure until the intensity is a 0.

Hi! I just joined, so I am a total novice. The info here is confusing. I don't really have any strong emotions around issues any more (I am 70 and worked through lots of stuff in the past). So how can I unload 70 pounds of fat using EFT as a help?

When I posted this in July, I was using the "Choices" method all of the time. Since I have been working on my EFT certification which requires using only traditional EFT, I have not used the choices method at all unless I've gotten an intensity of 0 on the issue with my clients. I am amazed at the difference. If you want EFT to be effective, you must first start out with acknowledging yourself and accepting yourself with the problem. Then only when you've cleaned up the negatives, you can use positive language and apply the "Law of Attraction" for quicker results.

So in this particular scenario, you don't do the 9 Gamut thing at all?
