If I had realized when I bought my step that it was the smaller model, I would have just paid the extra for the one on Cathe site. It wasn't even that much more.... ah well...
Not much I can do about it now... no biggie

bummer. Then you would need extra risers for the high step too. That is also a lot to store. I like that both my steps use the same risers. I store all of the risers together with one top behind them and one top to the side because my ball goes on top (and my med ball inside) I'm all about compact space since it is all in a corner of my living room.

No. I would need the whole step. I have STEP brand stepper, but it is not as big as Cathe's. The risers are not square, they are rectangle... emoticon

Well, did High Step Traing today... I liked the workout, but HATED that I had to keep changing the risers on my step. I don't have a high step, just lots of extra risers, so I have to change them for both sides. It was kinda frantic! LOL!
Makes me want to buy a HIGH STEP! LOL!

I know! Funny how doing an hour of step with Cathe, the time goes relatively quickly, but Yoga X seems to last FOREVER! LOL!
I have a couple of CRUNCH yoga workouts. I think they are 40 minutes each. One of them is harder like Yoga X, but the other one is a nice stretch. Makes you sleepy... emoticon

I agree - you're better to save STS and do it on it's regular schedule for the first time. This new rotation interests me though. I think I may do it after this round of STS if I don't decide to train for a marathon.
I like stretch max. I like that each workout is just 20 minutes. That is just right for me. Although the p90x yoga dvd was really the only p90x workout I actually enjoyed. I could actually touch my toes when done with that workout, and that isn't the norm for me. It is just soooo long.

Oh! She has a lot of STS workouts in there. Well, I don't want to work ahead of myself anyhow... LOL! It's just as well I already made my own rotation. Then I get to do my new workouts (and a few old favorites). I don't want to ruin the SURPRISE of doing STS workouts BEFORE their time!!! Just one more month till STS...

I wonder if I should get strech max. I actually already have a good stretch workout from P90X, and I have a couple of really good yoga workouts too. Nah! I don't need anymore DVDs right now. I am sooo spoiled! LOL!

She always has a rotation. Maybe it will be up tomorrow. But you can't be too disappointed to try your new ones right?
Hopefully this means she is just super busy working on Shock cardio right?
Have fun with Rhythmic Step - it is one of my favorites. - It is my favorite pure step workout (that I own anyway.)

Rest sounds so good right now. Today was my normal running day. There are days that I'm so glad my groups doesn't run very fast - today was one of those. It took about 4 miles for my legs to warm up and actually feel OK running after STS legs yesterday.
Forgot to do my abs yesterday - weights and plates still to go today - ugh.

hmmm... I am sort of at a loss as to what to do today. I also just got 5 new Cathe dvds in the mail today. But I have to be at the dentist in two hours (haven't even showered yet) and since I didn't take my usual SUNDAY as a rest day, I am feeling like I should rest today, check out my new workouts, go to the dentist and put my tower together today. Tomorrow I will try out a NEW workout!
Anyhow, I was kinda depending on Cathe to upload an October rotation and I just checked the website and there isn't one for October. So, if there isn't one there by this evening I will create my own. I think I will try alternating weeks with SPLIT body part workouts, with total body workouts for the month of October. I really liked the 4DS and I really like Gym Styles...
Also, take all my 1 rep max tests!!!

I know. It is just my not so good excuse. When I go back to eating clean, I'll go back to keeping track of calories and everything, and I'm just not so good at that nursing. If I get hungry I eat. (Probably wouldn't get hungry if I ate right though huh?) I've also just been lazy.

In between these 2 posts I've been checking out your team. I just read the protein powder topic. I'm looking for one because I really need more protein and I just can't eat that much meat. Thanks. I liked the ideas in your recipe book of adding 1/2 a scoop to oatmeal. I also want to try your home made protein bars. Yum!
I'm a horrible eater - not sure I'm ready to join your group LOL - Really, I probably will join, but I know I'm not going to make myself eat super clean until I'm done breast feeding and can get on a regular diet. Then I'll be good and take off these last 10-15 lbs I've put on between fertility and pregnancy.

I jst recently changed protein powders. My new favorite is made by KAIZEN. I get the ALL NATURAL WHEY. Vanilla Ice cream and Chocolate Fudge. They have no artificial colors or sweeteners. No sugar; just a little stevia.

I got a new book today. SPORTS NUTRITION GUIDEBOOK. It looked good... I think I need some help with my eating strategies. Of course I try to eat clean, but there is sooo much advice about what and when to eat. This book looked specific to ACTIVE people such as ourselves! LOL!
Anyhow, I WILL lose these last ten. I know, I know... I said I would be happy with where I am, and I'm not UNHAPPY. But, it has become a matter of principle!

True true, 4DS is hard. I think it is great prep for STS.
Started meso 2 today. I had jelly arms so I made sure to eat some extra protein - started with 1/2 a protein bar and ended up adding a glass of milk with breakfast. Whew - gotta love STS!

I just completed Boot Camp from 4DS. Wow! Cathe really knows how to make the most of your time!!! LOL!
I don't know if this 4DS is REALLY hard (the strength sections) or if my last month of doing mostly cardio and circuits has just left me with a little less muscle. I am thinking the latter.
Anyhow, my new plan is to do a week of alternating days of strength and cardio, then a week of cardio and circuits; for four weeks, before going into STS in November. Woo Hoo!

OK, ladies. I downloaded the STS rotation into my Cathe workout manager.
Right now, I have done (and am doing) a LOT of cardio, and since I stopped the S&H and Gym Styles, I look to have flabbed up a little. Nothing noticable by anyone really, but I can SEEIT! LOL!
I am thinking.... SELF, maybe too much cardio, not enough weights. So I stat STS on November 2nd. Now, do you ladies think I should do cardio on ALTERNATE days from my strength workouts? Right now I do an hour of cardio 6 days a week, I am thinking that 1 hour three days a week will be fine, that way I will have more strength and energy to really WORK HARD for these STS workouts. Build some muscle!

Pauline, I hope your knee gets better fast. I have chronic problems with my left knee and occasional ones with my right so I know how it feels. Ugh... The good news, at least in my case, is that STS didn't bother them much in Meso 1 and 2. Meso 3 plyo killed my left immediately and I switched over to the other style and did fine. Granted, I couldn't go as heavy as it called for since I didn't have squat racks but I think I still benefited. :) Hopefully, once the fluid etc goes down, you'll find that STS works well for you too.

Today I am doing Circuit Max.

Yuck Pauline. I hate bad knees. My knees are goofy too. They did well for a while between rounds of STS when I mostly ran and did other random Cathe weights DVDs - (more arms than legs.) Haven't been as nice since I started back to STS. My friends want to run a marathon, but my knees only handle about 10 miles before really not liking me much. Actually both my knees and hips hurt after my almost 10 yesterday. If I decide to join them I'm going to quit all lower body weight work and just run to see if that helps.

I know what you mean on needing space. All of my exercise stuff is still behind a screen in a corner of my living room. We just added an exercise ball for DH - 75cm. I'd never have space for the tower. I'm looking forward to using DH as my tower this round since he is doing STS with me. I figure he can hold my barbell and I can lift more for chest presses.

Yep. Almost ready for STS. I think I will start it on Nov. 1st. That's my plan right now, although I have been known to change my plans. I am a little bit unreliable. Irresponsible. LOL!

Good for you, Laura, you're just about set for STS. You rock! You'll be in such good shape after STS, "not that you're not now but you're on your way to better places". Cathe says that in one of her workouts. Anyone know? I think is Drill Max.

I got my Tower but haven't put it together yet. I can only do upper body and core, doctor said stay off the knee, there's fluid and he gave me steroids. I so hope this works and that's all it is.

He he! I ordered the Troy Lite barbell and the rubber thingy that covers it, and today I went to a local store and bought all the plates (70 pounds worth)They charge a $1.00 per pound, so with tax it came to less than $75. :) I don't think I need a rack for the plates quite yet! LOL!
Anyhow, I did 4DS, High Intensity Step with the Chest & Back today.

Been missing in action this week because it was active recovery week for STS and all I did was run. I did run 10 miles today (ok, only my route only ended up being 9.8, but close enough right?) Usually I only do 5.
I've always wanted the troy light barbell. I like how all of the plates are covered in rubber. I ended up buying mine at Target. They are covered in rubber around the edge, and the whole set ended up costing only about $75. I'm wanting another one now that DH is working out with me. I also need a couple of more plates because I have to jump from 50 to 65 lbs with the set up I have now.

Cool. I just ordered the bar and the foamie thingy... with shipping it only came to $70. Very cool. So, I just need the plates, which I can get here. I was gonna buy the rack for the plates, but I figure I will only be getting a FEW, so that could wait for now. Besides, a rack will just take up my VALUABLE, kickbox and step space. LOL!

hmmm... the total for everything comes to just over $200, but with shipping it is more than DOUBLE! I guess the WEIGHT is why! LOL! I am gonna go have another look around town. I think there are at least two fitness places I can look.
What is the weight capacity of TOWER, again?

I personally have gotten up to around 100 lbs for squats (you'd be surprised at how much weight your legs can handle,) but struggle to get more than 40-45 lbs over my head. It really isn't safe to go much heavier or you can do some serious damage to your shoulders. It is better to use a weighted vest along with the barbell loaded up.

Hmmm... that does look like a good set. They sell barbells in town here, but they do look BIG! I would like to get the bar, weights, weight rack and foamie thing for when doing squats etc.
If I order enough weights up to 80 pounds, I doubt if I will EVER need more, eh? What do you think? YA! LOL! I have a hard time picking up my 40 pound dumbell downstairs! LOL!

I have an EZ curl bar but don't like it. It may have more to do with the quality of it, but it is limiting. I bought a Troy Lite barbell set (the same as used in the Cathe videos) and really like it. Shipping was the limiting factor but when compared to the sets I could find around town, all told it was about the same but for better quality.

Today I did Kick Max Low Impact Timesaver.

I did my favorite today, KPC. Since I have 4 workout days before the end of the month, I am going to do the 4DS. I haven't done that dvd yet...
Next month, I will see what Cathe has created for the Ocober Rotation and I think it is time for me to get busy and figure out my 1 rep max. Shock Cardio will be out before you know it, and I want to be ready to do STSD with Shock Cardio. The RACK should be here soon, also. So, I better go buy a barbell and some plates.
Do any of you have preferences for that? I have never bought barbells, or even used barbells. I saw some with the curved bars. I am thinking that they could be limiting, but maybe I am wrong?

I did the Basic Step & Body Fusion on an 8 inch step and "accelerated" the whole thing. Geez! even doing both together I could have done MORE. I guess I am in better shape than I thought! LOL!
Anyhow, today I will do Butts & Guts for the first time and about 1/2 hour cardio. Maybe I will try the cardio from one of the 4DS or maybe just try a premix of something else. Hmmm...

My leg hurts now in the same place as when I hurt it with Insanity only worse. Agh! It didn't happen while I was working out either, it was after. I'm going to send Insanity back, it's too high impact for me. I think I'll get Chalene Extreme instead. Did you read the article that Smiles (Terri) posted? Even Cathe says after a certain age we should be careful with the high impact workouts.

Hahahaha, yes, I remember Meso 1 Legs to be the worst, I was sore for 4 or 5 days. It seemed incredibly long. But when you're that sore, that long, it must be doing something. You think?? Those sit and slides with the paper plate, I couldn't do them without weightlet alone with and I was very shallow. I thought I was going to fall. But in the end I was going pretty low with 5lb weights. Progress!!!!

I love the 4 DS workouts. Although, the step one is the only Cathe I can't seem to ever get the footwork on. I'm sure if I did it enough I would get it though. It is just so fast because they are cramming all of that cardio into 30 minutes.

My legs are soo tired from STS. I don't remember my legs being so tired when doing the other mesocycles, but I do remember the first being bad last time as well.

Loved Imax 3. I like the short circuits. It's perfect for someone with a short attention span! LOL! I just get bored easy and changing the routine constantly over the workout makes it seem like less work. No brain power involved! The footwork was ok. Still fancy, but at least it was familiar. LOL!

I'm with you on the outfits rather than the hair. How uncomfortable (on several levels!)

HAWGwILD1, how did you like it?

I did the cardio premix of 4DS High Intensity Step, and then CLX Lean Circuit #3. I may make this week my last week of CLX (I'm on week 3). I really need to boost my cardio in preparation for a convention weekend after next. It would be good to drop 3 lbs by then and it will take that extra cardio to do it. We will see!

I totally need to keep up with this thread. You guys are too funny.

I too am a "Cathe Snob" - although reading this has made me miss some of my step workouts because I've done nothing but run lately for cardio. DH will be out of town here in a couple of weeks, so I'll be getting my Cathe cardio fix in then. For now, I'm sure I wouldn't get a good cardio workout if I stayed home because magically the baby would be my responsibility as soon as he woke up and I'd be dancing around him on my step. When I'm out running, too bad so sad, I'm not home.

"mad rooster look" ROFL - I vote for harder to look at the outfits than the hair though. I don't have many of the classics though - just watched the previews on Cathe's site.

Laura - I also checked out your clean eating blog briefly - going to have to read that more. I love to try new things and how nice that you have them all in one place.

I love STS because it makes me behave myself and stick to a schedule. I'm in week 4 of meso 1 - only legs to go. DH has actually stuck to it with me - I'm so happy, excited, proud...

Supersets was great. Only one set per exercise (long sets. LOL!). Loved that. She just works the same body part with different exercises... I think there is THREE cycles... something like that. LOTS of exercises, Fast paced. I liked it a lot. Day after tomorrow I will try the Push Pull...

I really like Step Blast, but I like the complicated step routines. I just get bored less. I think I'll do that one tomorrow. LOL!

My mistake. Today was actually Step Blast from the BodyBlast series. It was my first time doing it. I found the footwork unusually complicated, although I am sure I will get a better hang of it after I do it a few times. It was also deceiving as to how many calories I was burning. It seemed like I was 3/4 way through it and I thought... hmmm... seems pretty EASY for a Cathe workout. At that point I had only burned about 250 calories. THEN, as per Cathe expectations, the BLASTS began. Next thing I knew I had burned 447 calories, was all SWEATY, and KNEW there was a reason that we LOVED CATHE's dvds!!!
So, I did Step Blast, then I did 10 minutes of the Medicine Ball abs from Ab Circuits.

Yesterday was CLX Lean #1 and Boot Camp Cardio only premix

I've backslidden... I reached my goal and was now maintaining, but now I need to lose 10 pounds and firm up.

I missed TWO days of working out, so today (usually my REST day) I did Imax 2. I like this workout more everytime I do it!

Yep! LOL! Hawgwild!
I think there is just three left that I don't have either. They are Terminator and the Stretch Max and Timesaver workouts. I probably won't bother with them either...
I have Body Fusion. I sometimes do Basic Step then Body Fusion back to back on days where I just feel a little lazier. The footwork is EASY! You still get a good calorie burn though, because when you do both consecutively I think the workout goes for almost an hour and a half.

IMAX2 + Cardio & Weights
Core Max
Ab Hits
Total Body Stretching

I have 2 left to gt but honestly I will probably never get them. 1 is the companion to Total Body Stretching and is a beginners tape and the other one is Body Fusion that comes with Basic Step. I got the DVD with Basic Step and Cardio & Weights on it...

Wow, if Rythmic Step is on the same dvd as Interval Max and MIC then I must have those two, I thought I did. Duh! Can't wait to go home and see if they're there.
