My doctor recommends Glucerna for this kind of problem... I don't like smoothies, yogurt, milkshakes, or anything that has that texture and sweetness, but I can eat puddings, so things like pureed soups work well--tomato, or split pea or navy bean soup, that kind of thing, works too.
I am sure things will get easier for you...

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Thanks everyone! I was able to go to the dentist today and they did a few adjustments to my denture that made it fit alittle better. It will take some time to get used to having the denture in my mouth though. I didn't have much choice as I had to have three of my front teeth removed because of infection. I'm hoping to feel better soon and get used to the denture in my mouth. Thank you all for your support!

Trish, don't be too worried about mentioning this on the diabetes team because diabetes can cause dental problems. I didn't have problems with my teeth (just gums) before diabetes, but everything got bad after diabetes hit.

For ideas to eat, I agree with the soup and smoothies. When your mouth is less tender try ground meat. You can also eat something like chicken then, but try to find what isn't grown so large because the large chicken is tough. Roasting meat in the crock pot will make it more tender, too. And making homemade soup in there works really well.

Smoothies, yogurt, any soups that are pureed.

BUT I would call the dentist to maybe see if an adjustment needs to be made on the temporary. I have had to have that done. Good luck!

It is necessary to make sure you are getting enough protein that keeps your blood sugar at an even keal. Smoothies and blending food until it is soft so you can swallow is one way to get it down.

I hope things are ok with you now......

In future, if you have problems eating solids, you could try to make a smoothie or something like that, and make sure you put protein powder in it to balance out your sugars..... However, I find that usually just eating some soup is enough as long as the veggies and any meat are cut up into very small dices and cooked well enough I don't need to "chew"

Whatever you do, make sure you use your meter to prevent going too low from not eating, or going to high from eating carb heavy soups.

Good luck....

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. Do you think you could swallow something liquid like broth or soup? Or maybe something soft like pudding?

Hi everyone, I know this site is for diabetic issues but I'm having dental issues and I feel I can't eat or swallow right due to having 3 teeth removed today and a temporary denture placed into my mouth. I haven't eaten all day and needless to say I don't feel very well as I am a type 2 diabetic. I feel like the denture is way to big in the roof of my mouth. I'm in a full blown panic and don't know what to do. Any suggestions as it is 10:45 and 3 hours away from my dentist. Thank you, Trish
