I wish I remembered exactly where the recipe came from, I know I saw it on pinterest. I'm sure if you google low-carb cupcakes you'll find lots of recipes.
I know it was nut flour, eggs, eryhritol and enough water to get the right consistency. I would just play around with it. I hardly ever follow recipes exactly.

I have to agree. Most of the time what is really savored and enjoyed are the first 2 bites of food. So I go for the small tastes sizes too.

Pat,
I'm very sorry for your bad news. Don't be hard on yourself for mindless eating. We all do it sometimes. I hope your Mom will be better soon.
As far as tasting what we eat, I find small amounts work best to satisfy (without severe emotional distractions of course).
I make very tiny low-carb/paleo chocolate cup cakes with nut flours and erythritol and put most of them in the freezer for special occasions. When I eat one (and they could go to a movie theater, too) they have only 2-3 grams of net carbs and I savor everyone of the 3-4 bites I get.

HOUNDLOVER I do agree with you on the eating anywhere you have a distraction.
I had a very bad phone call from England, my Mother was in a very bad accident.
When DH came in late afternoon from work he smelled baking. I told him I had made him a custard but all that was there was a crumb covered pie plate. I had eaten it just waiting for the phone to ring. A whole 9 inch pie went down my throat and I never even remember tasting it. We never have TV on when eating so we never eat watching TV. Our dining area is in the living area so it is turned off. Pat in Maine. emoticon

Well, popcorn and snacking have become a part of the whole experience of going to the movies. So I've been handling it the same way for 50 years, Share!
in the begining with sibling, and friends, then dates, then husband, my kids, and now mostly my husband.
We do get the small popcorn, and I just pick at it, letting him eat the majority. I do sometimes take in packets of nuts. Plus our Theaters have a lot more healthy choices, than they used to.

If it's to be, It's up to ME!

I think eating at the movies is a very bad idea. You don't even pay attention what the food tastes like and you miss part of the movie to stuff your face. If the movie won't hold your interest without eating you are watching the wrong movie. Instead bring a big water bottle and add some lemon to the water.

I grew up in England and you did not eat in the movies. So it is not a bother to me.

My going on a long ride just like siting in the movies I use raw almond blanched and toasted in the oven.
They become much sweeter and crunchy so it takes a while to eat them one at a time.

You can track them and they are digested slowly and it actually stabilizes my blood sugar.

Thanks! Those are great suggestions. I never thought of sneaking in my own snacks. And i already carry a huge purse - so really, it's the natural next step :)

1. Eat BEFORE going to the movie so that you aren't tempted with the need to snack.

2. Pop your own popcorn , put it into a serving size snack bag, put it in your purse and eat that.

3. Take along a serving size of nuts and munch on that.

Just a few ideas to get you started.

Hi I like taking cut up veggies & fruit / cheese and crackers / air popped pop corn / turkey wraps and bottled water.
Sometimes I take a Subway Sub...
Isn't that what purses are for??? emoticon

Hey everyone!

I love going to the movies! The downside is that there isn't anything healthy to eat - lots of tasty things - but not much healthy. I love popcorn, but i'm not sure if the fat content is worth it because despite having loads of fiber the fat really delays how my body processes it and then i get readings all over the place.

What are your favourite munchies when you're out and about? Any tips?
