Vinkle, I use an Accu-Chek Combo pump and absolutely love it. I've been on a pump for only three years and Accu-Chek is the only brand I've used so I don't have experience with other pumps. I have much better control with a pump than I did with a very low carb way of eating and MDI. There are some disadvantages to pumping but in my opinion it's a great option for some people. :)

I can't speak from personal experience but after reading Dr. Bernstein's book I can see lots of reasons not to use a pump but rather cutting carbs down as much as possible and then relying mostly on long-lasting insulin and only adding short-acting if your blood sugars indicate you need it. His book his awesome and will allow much better control then a pump could.

Hello. After 20 years of doing multiple daily injections with a syringe I am going to switch to a pump. My endocrinologist would not recommend one. She wants me to pick my own. I've attended a local pump group session where reps from all the companies had booths. Yet I'm still unsure.

Does anyone love or hate their pump? Is your current pump better or worse than your old pump? Any idea which pump would be best for a pump NOOB?
