Tony,

I hope you don't think I was being snotty asking what is wrong with hybrids. If there is a problem with them I would want to know. I was just wondering why you think they are dangerous.

I had a pink grapefruit drink one day and that afternoon i was down with stomach pain as it hadn't acted up before and this was the culprit that day....boy now when I look at the bottles that I save for making individual juices it has the grapefruit label on it and that's a reminder for me not to get it again! Thank god for immodium and rest as it cleared up in about 2 days....:( Never want the pains , and runs of that to come back again and haunt me..

Why would the hybrids be a problem? They have been around for around 30 years, I think. I never had any problems with them, but hadn't thought about the grapefruit and the problems it has with many drugs. I don't see why a hybrid would be more of a problem than grapefruit, which seems to be quite a bit of a problem in those cases.

Thanks. We did have a diabetes nurse at the clinic I went to, but the Hospital (where the clinics are associated with) wouldn't keep her but for one day a week so she had to leave and find another job. Now they have classes downtown and some clinics, but they are only in Spanish and I don't know what they are saying. My six years of Spanish didn't stay with me in the last 40 or so. You would think they would have some English speaking classes, too, but they don't seem to.

It always helps too if you have a diabetic clinic and a registered nurse to advise you if you have any concerns. Do watch out for too much information online as I think I was told that some sites are correct and only go to the registered sites for diabetes. When I was first diagnosed the Diabetes clinic nurse gave me a booklet with all the resources in it and here's a list if it will help you in your managing diabetes.

CANADIAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION: www.diabetes.ca/

AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION:
www.diabetes.org/

CENTRES FOR DISEASE CONTROL:
www.cdc.gov/

NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH: www.nih.gov/

AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION:
www.ama-assn.org/

DR. KOOP.COM:
www.healthcentral.com/

JOSLIN DIABETES CENTER: www.joslin.org/

UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA: www.upenn.edu/

LIFESCAN CANADA LTD.:
www.onetouch.ca/english/index.asp

I have added all the resources from the booklet she gave me and hope this helps for any one else dealing with Diabetes....Do send these links to your friends and family so that they can get the help they need to stay healthy with this disease.

I am glad to help someone as this makes me feel useful when I am not sure what to do in this frustrating world we live in today.

God Bless you and your family...thank you for letting me share.:) emoticon

Thanks. I didn't know what to google for to find that information. I supposed something like MedMD would have information, but I just haven't got my brain working enough to figure that out today. I was halfway through the Ugli when I thought maybe it was something I shouldn't eat with those meds.

Does anyone know if Ugli fruit has any reactions with drugs like grapefruit? I know that it is a grapefruit/orange/tangerine mix. I was wondering if it is okay with metformin and Lisinopril.
