Men. Their metabolisms are different from ours because they aren't built to have babies~ hardly fair, right ladies? LOL

I don't know much about IBS. Even with fibromyalgia, which predisposes you to getting that, I haven't had any experience with it. I DO know that too much protein will cause a lot of folks to get diarhea...

Actually, I have CKD too and losing 6 pounds overnight is easy~ but it works both ways, I can also gain up to 10 pounds overnight~ but none of it is permanent, and it IS water weight! LOL

Even if it were "legitimate" weight loss, it would be unsustainable. You can't survive on rations that produce that kind of deficit without paying for it in terms of health and lowered metabolic rates. That's what's responsible for most of us getting that 'yo-yo' effect!... if you diet by reducing calories too much, and then go back to "normal" eating... hm. LOL That's why SP is so important to me. It's all about LIFESTYLE change, not just a one time thing.

But sticking with SP for the long haul will give you the success you are after, and you can then turn your nose up at your hubby's comments~ in fact, if I were you I'd start turning my nose up now! LOL

Hang in there, you'll survive!lol

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But I don't think you have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too!

Lose 6 lbs. overnight?? Only if you've got the 'runs' and don't drink anything before and after the 'episode'. LOL Trying to be nice.

Thanks everyone. Today I treated myself to a new lunchbox, and little containers for measuring and staying on track. I am returning to work tomorrow after an extended vacation, so I need to focus. Your encouragement has been great.

He probably feels threatened by your willingness to try Spark People without him. Just ignore his comments and SHOW him!

Some men just don't get it. Mine could eat anything and still lose weight. It's very hard to know whats good for us and not. Just take it one day at a time. I am trying to eat more fruits and vegs. and the day my family wants things different than me i usualy make sure i have a rotisiare chicken in the house. I love them and they can have the streak or burgers.

The greatest thing about most diabetic recipies is that they are tasty and flavourful and the other members of the family usually don't even know that you are cooking for your needs. They just love the food.

Try some recipies from those books, or check out some at Spark. Either way, he'll hardly notice your new way of cooking.

I would love the names of those books. I love to cook and experiment with flavors. Thanks for the new use of frozen steak suggestion! ;0)

LOL! I'd probably have hit him with that frozen steak. Having said that, my hubby doesn't care about what he eats, either! :( No help for me.
Good luck, with determination, you can do it. Incidentally, I recently bought some books about diabetic cooking and there are yummy recipes to try out which won't keep you bored. Let me know if you want the names.

I have IBS (recent diagnosis) and am diabetic type II. These boards and posts have been so helpful and interesting to me in the past few days and I am motivated to keep tracking, and drink my water etc... plus I am learning new things. Last night I read about meat possibly being a trigger for the IBS and I told him (husband) about it, as he was taking steak out of the freezer for dinner tonight. His reply 'you might be getting into that internet a bit much.' Ugh! Because he is afraid he won't get steak for dinner?! Then later today, he tells me how he lost 6 pounds since yesterday cause he only had 1 huge sandwich at work last night not two!! I love him which may be hard to believe, honestly he brings me so much joy, but this type of thing drives me up a wall. I want to help him GET IT, but he generally does not eat well, unless I am fixing his lunch, dinner, breakfast everything and right now I need to watch over me! Does anyone else know of a food plan you can just think about and lose 6 pounds overnight? LOL Hook me up!
