hi everybody, I am new to this challenge.I will start from today. I have my monthly periods today, may be will excercise ofr 20 min, but will surely eat 3 servings fruit and 8 glasses of water.I will make a habit of posting everyday.

I have gotten all my fruits in everyday since I last logged, but not my exercise due to illness. Today will be the first day I feel well enough to exercise so I'll log my progress this evening.

I am back to logging in my progress today. I have been camping with the family for several days. I definitely got my 30 minutes of exercise in everyday, but I did not manage to get all my fruits in on a daily basis. As I recall the challenge did not include drinking 8 glasses of water, only 30 min. of exercise and 3 fruits a day, although I do try to get as many waters in as possible. As for this week (1/19/09) I have not done well. I caught a cold (probably from being outside in near freezing temps over the long weekend!) so I have only exercised 2x this week and managed no fruits. Being sick is impeding my progress, but I won't give up. I'll just keep going at a pace I can handle. I hope everyone else is doing better than me on this challenge....good luck to all!

Looks like everyone has stopped logging here well I have had my 3 fruits a day and 8 glasses of water also have managed to get in at least 30 mins or more of cardio a day.Good Luck everyone who is still doing this challenge

1/14/09 25min strength training 45min wii boxing 45min walking 3 fruits 8 cups water I love the we sports and am looking forward to trying the wii fit, I am off for the next 2 days and hope I can stay on track. I always seem to fall off the wagon on my weekends.Wish me luck

1/14/09....Did very well yesterday by getting in 55 minutes of Wii Sports and 3 fruits. It is 1/15 today and I feel positive I will get it done all over again!

I am new to SparkPeople...Just perusing the boards and came across this one...exactly what kind of detox is everyone doing?? Or is the fruit and water supposed to be the detox? I agree that just getting enough fruit and veggies in can be very difficult at times, but we must keep trying!

Don't let your set back stop you I lost about 27lbs in a year by walking and started slowing down but with Spark I've been able to get back on the wagon and start again. GOOD LUCK

1/13/09 3 fruits 8glasses of water 25 mins of cardio I slacked on the cardio a little by not walking but I did 3 Spark People cardio vedeos on You Tube.They are great easy,fast,and really work all the areas. Love it Michelle emoticon

1/13/09....bombed on the exercise part. It was raining and I just didn't feel motivated. I did get 2 fruits in. Why is something this simple so hard to get motivated for???

Today is 1/14/09 and I vow to do better and reach my daily goal. I have 1 fruit in so far. I will post again this evening when I have done everything I need to do for my self.

1/12/09....Yesterday was a busy "Mom" kind of day so I clocked my exercise as 1 hour of grocery shopping plus 30 minutes Walmart shopping which, of course, is all done on my feet. It only burns about 150 calories, but it's still exercise. I just didn't have time for any other kind. Also bombed by not getting but one fruit serving in. Just one of those days. On to 1/13/09!!

I forgot about the Wii games like boxing and tennis. Since it is raining here today I'll try that. Thanks for the reminder!

Sun11,09 45min walking, 17 mins steps low impact,and 40 mins WII Boxing,and I must say I can just about raise my hands over my head the Boxing is a great cardio workout.I had 2 fruits and 11 glasses of water.I am more motivated with this challenge then I havae been for a long time.Thanks Sparks emoticon

1/10/09....Went with the family to a state park and hiked for 30 minutes up and down small hills as well as stairs. I also ate my 3 fruits for the day.

Ok So today's my 1st day of the challenge and I have finished 6glasses of water,2 fruits,and 30min of WII cardio,and my day isn't done yet. I still have to work from 10pm to 6am,I plan on walking 3 miles at work,and I'll get those last 2 bottles of water and last fruit in .I hope I can keep this going. emoticon

I've been plugging away. I try to keep up with my nutrition and fitness tracker every day. I joined the bootcamp also. I've been in a little lull about working up a sweat. I will walk or do some sort of exercise, but not really get my heart rate up where it needs to be. I really need to work on that.

Been ill the last 2 days so I did not eat as much as 3 fruit servings a day, but did manage some; also one day did not exercise, but got in 30 minutes yesterday. Will be back on the wagon today. Already have one fruit serving in and going to exercise soon.

Thanks. I have problems getting fruit in. I guess for me it is gradually getting things in. I workout for at least an hour daily - 4-5 times a week. Working on the food now. I think that is my challenge now trying to get the right foods into 1200-1500 calories. I have been so use to eating 2500 calories. Since starting on Monday...logging my food has helped so much. I am down to 1900 calories.

My summer goal is to look great in my Engagement photos! and to be more active outside.

Ok. I am sooo ready for this. Im getting a late start (Jan 5th). But I am sure it will be worth it. My goal for summer...... I have a closet full of "skinny" clothes. so i shouldnt have to shop for anything!! I just wanna fit into my clothes.

Sat. Jan. 3: got my exercise in, but for some reason forgot my last serving of fruit last night. So I only managed to get in 2 servings. Will do better on the 4th.

3 fruits

4 mile run - 50 min, 970 burn, 12 min 30 sec per mile pace

It was 4 miles or bust for me this morning. I would NOT allow myself to bust & pushed through, however long it may have taken, I was able to finish. I'm encouraged by Higdon (the author of my training schedule) by saying,


"Don't worry about how fast you run your regular workouts. Run at a comfortable pace. If you're training with a friend, the two of you should be able to hold a conversation. If you can't do that, you're running too fast. (For those wearing heart rate monitors, your target zone should be between 65 and 75 percent of your maximum pulse rate.)"


I'm so happy that I was able to finish!! Next week is a repeat of this week's mileage runs - (2) 3 miles & (1) 4 miles. Secretly I'm hopeful that I'll see a little bit of improvement in my pace. For now, today is officially the longest run I've ever done in my entire existence!

I would like to join up!

Jan 1 & 2 got the 30 min a day and 3 fruits & veggies.
Jan 3rd fell off a little and got about 60 min exercise but only 1 serving of fruit and veggies!

Working on summer goals!

Jan. 1 & 2 did fine with taking in more than 3 servings of fruit. Not too great on getting 30 minutes of exercise on the 1st, but on the 2nd I did. So today is the 3rd and I will manage to do both. Looking forward to Monday when routine gets back on track!!

Oh yeah....my summer goal is to be able to wear a bathing suit without a skirt attached to hide my stomach!!

Finished my 3 fruits this morning in my breakfast smoothie and my exercise - walking the mall with my son.
Whats the detox part of the challenge?
