Down 1.75 inches since the start of the month and about 3 lbs. Nothing to write home about but with the cold, the knee injury, and the splurge in respons to the injury, I'm content. I'd love to carry this measuring through to Spring.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

A little up a little down and no overall change this week. I'm not surprise, it's about to be that TOM, so I'll probably readjust in the next couple of days. My weight was down, all of 0.2lbs.

Weird measurements today. Can these changes really be due to my recent inactivity or am I just really bad remembering exactly where to take the measures? Possibly both.

I measured the difference against the first week so I'm down a total of 1.5 inches. So nothing really lost since last week, just shifted.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

Well, my overall change is good! I'm already down 2.25 inches. That's great because the scale went up this morning, but I feel bloated as anything, so that's probably why. This morning is a running morning and it's currently 10F out. I hope it gets to at least 15 by 7 am!

I think the tape slipped a bit or I measured from the wrong in because my leg measurements are WAY off (10 inches). I'll have to re-take those or just wait until next week. Overall, things are trending in the right direction. Assuming I measured in the same spots as last week I'm about 1.5 inches down.

Left Bicep: 16.00 (-.25)

Okay, got my measurements done this morning! Also hopped on Wii Fit and my weight is 161.4, which is significantly better than I expected since I haven't weighed myself since mid-December.

waist 32.0
hips 40.5
right thigh 23.0
left thigh 22.5
right bicep 11.75
left bicep 11.75

I started a small challenge/wager with my husband who also went totally off track this holiday season. We each have three goals that we are meant to hit 5 times a week, and we each are putting money in a pot, and whoever gets the most points every two weeks gets the money to spend on a movie of their choice. We're both terribly competitive, so this should be interesting.

My goals are not eating after 9pm, no sugar, and exercise at least 10 min in the afternoon or evening (I already do mornings consistently).

I'm ready to attack this challenge! I'm going to try to take some before photos, whether I post them or not. I don't expect to see much of a change in one month but I certainly hope to see one by end of year.

Total Inches Lost Challenge -

There are only two requirements to this challenge. How you get there is up to you.

1. Measure weekly for total inches lost
2. Be accountable to someone or something.

Post both of these things on the board on Monday January 3, 2011. Let’s do this for 30 days and then revaluate and see if we want to keep it going.

Do your measurements in the following manner:

Both Upper arms at mid bicep
Waist is measured horizontally at the navel
Hips – measure at widest point between navel and legs.
Both legs at mid thigh

BEING ACCOUNTABLE – Pick someone or something that will help make you accountable to reach your goals. Post what you decide to do along with your total inches on the board by Monday. If you don’t get it on the board Monday then do it as soon as you can.

Enlist the help of your friends or family, another spark member or even use some of the links listed below. If you are really brave…. Put your money where your mouth is and make a wager with someone! The more accountable you are… the greater your chances of success are. That’s it! The rest is up to you.

To help you be accountable… check out some of these sites.

Now… if this isn’t enough challenge for you… keep reading… There are several other things I want you to keep in mind when thinking about this challenge. Your greatest chances for success are when you are held the most accountable. Please consider doing the following along with the above. In almost any “biggest loser” competition the people who had “before” pictures had the greatest transformation. Take pictures of yourself in your underwear or swimsuit. If you are brave enough... post them ( I am not that brave… yet. LOL) At least put them where you can see them EVERYDAY.

Speaking of pictures… Did you know that people who regularly log their food lose 3 TIMES as much weight as those that don’t? THREE TIMES!!!!! HMMMM maybe there is something to this journaling after all. If you don’t have time to write your food down… how about considering a photo food journal? With all of the smart phone capabilities out there is NO EXCUSE TO NOT KEEP A JOURNAL! If you are like me you ALWAYS have your cell around!

One last thing to think about whenever you are starting something new… if it seems overwhelming, just break it down. Make sure you put it in the smallest manageable change. If you can’t commit to exercise an hour every day… do it for 5 minutes instead! Small changes lead to bigger things. Pick ONE small change and go from there. Make a commitment to the change for 5 days! People tend to go with what they know and in just that short amount of time you can increase your chances of success!

Good Luck Everyone!

I will be posting my measurements on Monday as well as giving you some more information and tips about what and how I am going t be competing with you all a little later.
