Kat - you are so consistent with your WI's, I figured you had a good reason for not checking in. If your procedure required an IV, that would explain the jump in weight as there is so much sodium in them. Hopefully, the procedure went well and the swelling in your leg goes down and so does the scale!

Thank you Sharon for always doing so much extra work for these challenges; i for one very much appreciate it. I usually weigh myself on Mondays but I didn't this last Monday and here is what I posted on other group pages

:I weighed but didn't post because i had a procedure done which screwed up the weight and I know it is not accurate. If anything I should have lost some but instead I gained 10 pounds; however, for whatever reasons, my legs have swollen up so much they don't even look like mine. I'll see what the doc says tomorrow but I'm not too concerned; they will go down again. But what I learned about myself: I got "comfort" foods - didn't want any of it; I got some alcohol to enjoy a cocktail on my deck; didn't want it!! My eating has changed enough that I don't enjoy what I thought I liked before...WIN!!!

Sharon, thank you for your hard work pulling all of this together during a difficult time in our lives. It helped me stay focused and keep on track. I hope to be able to continue through the rest of the summer.

Loved your mini challenges. They were much needed to help me stay grounded.

Good Morning!

Thanks for all the kind words for me. The challenge often gives us accountability whether we feel the motivation or not.

We have a couple ladies that never checked in this week. Being a Holiday Weekend, I am going to assume they are doing something fun and not by a scale so I am going to do the Summary without their WI.

I am going to go work on it and post in a little bit.

Carol I'm sure you won't see this in time but in case you do they are having the concert and fireworks at the Capitol Grounds. We had every intention of going, O love the music and fireworks show but my back and leg said no plus I don't think Darrell could have handled the heat very well. So Jenny will have to play for us without us:(.

Hi Everyone. It was a good week for me. I've been working hard and being super careful. It wasn't particularly fun,, though, as I passed on the treats during the day and didn't get my fun foods that I take in very moderate amounts. I don't believe in any eating plan that denies us any food.

That said, I'm happy with the number.

Carol, it is hard to do without some of the fun celebrations for the 4th. It is nice this year to focus on family and spend time with them as we can. I am not a big "hot day outside in the sun all day" type of person so I usually pass on most of the celebrations anyway.

Tessa, glad you reached your goal and the Whoosh Fairy visited you. Have fun at the birthday party. I enjoy the smaller ones better anyway.

Heather, so happy you have your mojo back. It is good that you are being more aware. It is so easy to eat the convenient and fun foods. It is harder to be more aware but it works.

Sharon, so glad you got some loss anyway. It is hard when there is a lot of socializing. But it is so important for your soul.

Thank you for your thought and efforts going into this challenge. It is so nice to have encouragement from the team and support whether successful or not.

Brenda, it is good to have a reminder from time to time. Glad Mike was able to think about it. It is easier to eat healthier when your partner is thinking that way also.

TC, congrats on a loss. I'm glad you were able to collect your specimin.

LG, glad you are feeling better. Hope the Whoosh Fairy visits you on your vacation. Have fun.

Joyce, so glad you reached your goal. It feels good to have that success. Congrats.

I'm off to do housekeeping types of things. Always something to do.

Have a great day.

Sharon, I truly appreciate the dedication and hard work you do on these challenges. We are all grateful to you!

My goal for this challenge was for a 10# loss. Barely a loss 2 weeks previous but really stuck to the diet this week and barely squeaked by with a 1.6 loss making the total 10.2#.

Well, the ďwhooshĒ fairy didnít visit me! But I didnít gain so I ok.

TC, not sure what the heck caused it but I figured it out and got 2 16oz bottles of water in me! Ate some grapes and felt better. I see my doc soon and Iíll be sure to tell her about it. I couldnít have driven down my driveway!

Heather, emoticon To you for hanging in there. Youíre going to make it!

Sharon, emoticon emoticon emoticon Canít say it enough! I didnít lose what Iíd hoped but I didnít gain over all. These challenges are what I need to keep me accountable.

I didnít get 12k steps for the last 2 days but Iím ok. Eating has been good...no potato chips, nachos, fries, etc! Next week Iíll probably drop 2 lbs!!

Everyone have a wonderful 4th of July!!

Good morning !

This was a fast challenge. As usual, I am with everyone else in totally appreciating Sharon and the work she puts into these challenges. She is AMAZING !! emoticon I managed to stay focused most of the time and it shows in an overall loss. I may be lower now since i ate breakfast and then... visited "john"... LOL !! Very convenient since i needed stool for cancer test that work sent me in the mail.

Mushrooms belong on steaks too ! I love em ! Mom hates them. Pat, oh my ! I am so glad you are ok and thought to start drinking. Dehydration is no small thing. We admit probably 4 or more people a week from that and we just had one yesterday that fainted 3 times at work from it before work "let" him drive home and then he drove to hospital. People are so dumb. No common sense !!

I am glad to hear the RV brakes are fixed. Congrats to Tessa for her wt loss !! Wow, a mountain... No thank you ! I could hardly breathe while in Co. when we camped and got out walking every day. Heather, it is good you have lived with Alex long enough, you can "suggest" things for him to do. I love the picnic near the water.

I really need these challenges to stay focused. so i am very grateful every time Sharon starts one.

Happy 4th of July!

Lots of fireworks last night but not as many in our park as in the past. The fireworks don't seem to bother Nala like thunder and lightening.

I managed to eek out 1/4 lb loss this week. I have just not been in the right frame of mind during this challenge. I started it OK but the last few weeks, I lost my motivation!

Norm has been trying harder, I must admit. He lost 1.5 this week. I can see his tummy going down by the day!

I'm happy, I've had a visit from the whoosh fairy and met my target for the challenge of getting to the 140's.
I've not had a huge loss through this the challenge but I've been losing since new year so expected a slow downward trend at this stage.
Thank you all for the encouragement and accountability.
We are off to see the grandchildren today, it's the middle ones 6th birthday on Monday (I was there when she was born & had to 'catch' her as the midwives hadn't arrived). Our restrictions aren't allowing the usual kids birthday parties so it's nice to be able to celebrate in other ways.

Our travel restrictions are lifting a bit so we are hoping to get to Switzerland in a couple of weeks which will be wonderful (as long as it all works out, certainty is a thing of the past!).

Oh Lord, I'm way behind again. Was feeling pretty "blah" for a couple of weeks, just the ongoing COVID isolation and events cancellations. No parade, not Art in the Park. Shoot.

Tomorrow's the last weigh in this go-round. I should come in with a small loss. Congrats to all who've been successful, no matter what.

Hi Sassy friends. Today was Lightnng's birthday. He turned 4. His parents like to have breakfast with me and dinner with the other grandparents. It is just what they do. In May we ate on the back deck and it was sunny and hot. It was hotter today but they brought shade and I opened the patio door and blew cooler air out onto the deck. It was pleasant but I'll pay in utilities.

Sharon, glad that PT will help you figure out the why as well as help you become stronger and less painful. It is hard to change habits, but you can do it.

Tessa, it is nice to take a rest day and let your body rest. You did great today.

Heather, good for you sticking to your plan. I know you will feel better and find more success. It is hard to make everything work. Love fruit salads.

Peggy, I'm glad Jerry didn't have a blood clot. Hope the ortho can help him with the Baker's Cyst.

LG, it is hard when you get dehydrated. It seems like it takes a while to recover. Hope you feel great today and tomorrow. I think our bodies hold onto water when it is hot. It wants to protect us from dehydration.

Today, since I had a bigger breakfast, I'm going to have a later "linner" and eat like a Senior. I'd really like to watch Hamilton but will wait a few days.

DSIL has two 4 foot tables filled with fireworks. He and DS will put on a show tomorrow night. Last year they invited the neighbors to sit on the lawn and it was pretty crowded. This year,, the neighbors will be watching from their lawns and there will just be those of us who are brave enough to come.

Tomorrow instead of a parade the city is having a "parade" o the fire trucks and police cars driving through some of the neighborhoods. They will go up the road just north of me. The neighborhood is putting flags on the lawns of those over 65. They have enough flags to put them on every house. It has been a scout troop fund raiser for years.

Until then, it is eat healthy and have fun. Have a great day.

Iím checking in quickly today as I have lots I need to do.

Yesterday I didnít get my 12k steps. But my BP dropped very low and I could hardly drag myself to work. I think I was dehydrated. When I finally got enough water I began to feel better. Not sure Iíll make it today either but Iím working on it in 15 minute intervals.

Peggy, thatís scary about the blood clot. Just glad it wasnít that. Iíve had bakerís cysts. First one lead to knee replacement. So painful. Hope Jerry does ok.

I stepped on the scales yesterday and was down 2 lbs but Iím sure that was do to dehydration. But one can hope!

A quick check in before I shut my lap top down! I have worked on my list and have accomplished a lot of it but some things I'm still lacking with.

Nothing on our agenda today. I stripped our bed this morning and so I have to put that back together as well as more laundry.

Good luck on our WI tomorrow. I've worked a little harder this week for a loss but I'm afraid I'm not going to lose either, Heather!

Good morning all!! it's 74 and we're off for our walk.

Jerry woke up with a swelled leg yesterday and he had a virtual meeting with the P A from the Drs. office and she sent him for a test to make sure it wasn't a blood clot and luckily it wasn't but it was a Baker's Cyst.

He has to go to the Orthopedist next week to see what to do. It isn't affecting him yet luckily.

Please keep him in your prayers and yeah it isn't a blood clot.

Have a great day!

My SMALL change list for this week!
....reduce junk!
....NO junk foods! To be continued thru the week....
....Start doing fruit salads for Lunch again....continue thru the week....
....stop overusing proteins like ham & cheeses & red meats...
....use more lean meats like all the chicken I have in my freezer....
...use more veggies! Roast.....steam or stir fry!
.... stop eating bedtime lunches & cut bread carbs...especially on Friday!

This was my list last Friday....and I pretty much have followed it all week. And even cutting out all the actual junk foods I had been eating like potato chips....should have got my weight down! But NO....this morning it was up 0.6~~~ grrrrrrrr....
Just hope I do my usual thing and have a *whoosh* tomorrow morning! emoticon

My plan to hit 100% activity every day didn't work yesterday. When I was ready to go out it was raining, by the time it had stopped my walk had to be shorter, 80% achieved. It will average out ok over the week though.
My weight has dropped but I doubt I'll get to the 140s tomorrow as I'd hoped.

During my PT session yesterday, we discussed my time on the computer. Plus, I spend time in my recliner on my phone. To be honest (and I know this) my posture is not good during either time. So I have made myself a promise to spend less time on the computer and see if it helps. The therapist agrees I have Rotator Cuff Tendinitis but she thinks a lot of my pain issues is coming from my neck and my posture while on the computer. I truly expect it is true so I am going to see if it helps to cut my time.

Community Coffee and out for lunch today so it was not a good food day. However, I only ate 1/2 of my sandwich and I'm only having some yogurt before I go to bed.

Hi Everyone.

Peggy, your bagel sounds great. I don't have them often, but love them. Yours sounds delicious. It is a nice thing to do for yourselves.

Sharon, your soup sounds great. I like freezing in single portions. It seems to be a good idea for most foods. Then you only have to batch cook occasionally. You could change the beans, but does Norm add beans to his chili? Hope he gets the brakes fixed without a problem.

Heather, I had to chuckle at your efforts to keep Alex busy. It is silly but some people need that structure in their lives and don't really like a "honey do" list. You would hate me, because mushrooms totally belong on omelets.

LG, that is a lot of steps. Good for you. You inspire me. I like my pretzels also. Glad it helped you feel better.

I feel back on track today. I worked hard yesterday to keep my meals planned and not munch all day. I didn't get treats either. It was a sad day, but it felt better when I stepped on the scale today.

Off to play with the dogs and do kitchen and laundry. Have a great day.

Good Morning! We have a whole new start! Let's make July a good month in our journey to success!

My taco soup is a good batch! I had it for supper last night and kept a serving out of the freezer for dinner today.

Heather - Norm doesn't like the beans (pinto, kidney and black beans) in the soup. I don't understand as he loves chili with the beans. Oh well, we eat very different meals as well. I usually let Norm make his meal first. Then I can clean up both our messes at once. He is a neat cook but his clean up needs a woman's touch. I chuckled over your suggestions to Alex. I have to do the same with Norm. Can't they come up with stuff on their own. I can't imagine what is running through their mind at times.

LG - Wow! That's a lot of steps - good for you! Norm loves sweets too. We blame it on his years in the sugar factory( at least that's what we dubbed his work place) You know he is really trying to lose weight with our challenge. Yesterday at the grocery store he said don't buy any cookies, bars or any other sweet. He said he can't stay away but if we don't have them, he doesn't have a choice. Every day he proves he is a smart man!

The guys are out working on the brake lines. They started at 7:30 to get a start on the day. I hope they can be done before the heat of the day!

Peggy - you always make me hungry for a bagel! I love a good blueberry bagel with cream cheese. What is your favorite?

Oh my goodness Tessa....your Dad is amazing! That snow mountain looks like some climb! Happy you & your sister were given your Dad's genes!

WG.....you are right enough that there is * always something to do* I am never ever bored! Alex on the other hand....gets bored easily! So I am always trying to find something I know he likes to do. ( even tho' I have lots to tend to ) This morning he went for his usual morning walk. He was only back home about an hour when he started pacing. ( drives me bonkers when he does this! ) So I said....want to make your lunch & I will do mine and we can head down to the waterfront to eat? The change on his facial expression says it all emoticon
Once we were home again....about 2 hours and again he starts pacing. I said....Why don't you go for another walk and get your tea at Tim Horton's before supper! Good Idea! He says and away he goes! ( I will go with him sometimes to the coffee shop but I would just as soon stay home and make my own tea and sit outside in the gazebo! )
I have never understood * bored * emoticon

Sharon.....I think Norm & the guys are smart to change all the 4 break lines while they have things apart. I am sure all the work Norm does for others and management and gets paid for will cover the extra costs! And you will have peace of mind next time you travel.
Alex & I hardly ever eat exactly the same meals. He likes to make his own meals so you will often find us both at the stove ( like tonight for our omelettes ). He likes mushrooms in his...I hate them. I like chopped celery...carrots red onion etc....in mine....Alex hates that. We are so use to cooking together at the stove....he knows which burner I use...I know his burner and even though my kitchen space is small....we have learned each others moves from fridge to stove to sink.... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Pat....WOW.... emoticon getting 17,000 steps in emoticon

Alex & I seem to be getting off the Run-Away-Train this week. The scales were up this morning but that is nothing new for me! I do this during the week & lose on Saturday morning.
Went for a walk to the Post Office Monday and to the grocery store today ( for a few easy to carry things ) Having been cleaning....painting....gardening etc....I seemed to lose the window to go for a walk. Hope to do walking every day even if it is not far! emoticon

Good Afternoon!

Norm and I went and ran some errands this morning. I came home and put a batch of Zero Point WW Taco Soup in my Slow Cooker. Norm doesn't like it but I do and it makes for a good supper for me. I put it in 1 cup servings and freeze it so I can always take one out and use it.

The guys decided while they had the MH all apart that they should change all four of the brake lines. So not quite as cheap as I thought but still a lot cheaper than having it done. They took today off as our neighbor was getting new furniture today. They will finish tomorrow.

HI Everyone. Rainy and cool here. I'm enjoying it. Get my dog's "brother" for a few days. They should have a good time together. She is going to her dad's cabin for a few days. He has one on a lake in the mountains. It is a fun place to be so I'm sure she enjoys it.

Tessa, you are a whirlwind. It is fun to hear about all that you do. I'm glad you and your sister are living healthy and active lives. It is so nice to see you enjoying your time. Entering events is a great way to focus your training and continue to keep moving.

Marianne, so glad you got a good night of sleep. It helps make the world a better place. I don't like a lot of books but this one isn't about the author's new diet but looks at all of the information he can find and he tries to make sense of all of it to find the best information for the reader. It has been fairly clinical and informative so I've enjoyed it.

LG, glad the kids came by so you can do some plan finalizing. It will be so fun for everyone to spend some time together.

Heather, you are a fun person. I look forward to your posts.

Off to get things in order before the dog comes. Always something to do.

Have a great day.

I'm 60. My sister is 65 and does more than me. Must be in our genes, my dad celebrated his 80th birthday by going up a 12000ft snow mountain (the snowy one!).

Whilst I can move I feel I need to keep at it. Signing up for events gives me motivation.

Good morning to all!

Well...Good for you Heather! YAY YOU!

I love reading the small step goals from everyone!

Mine are extremely simple....but...ones I can focus on for myself.

1) Food groups. I am working on them
2) water. need it more than ever in this heat.

Was going to do the easy one of steps...but...LOL...that has been a given...but no this week. My heel is bothering me....have had heel spurs in the past in my right foot...so...still tight..so taking a short break from walking and listening to my bosy. Plus..this am...my poor toes...need to put bandaids on each toe...on my right foot to separate them . I seem to have right goot issues! LOL!

Just tired.....I think the heat is getting to me...and ...work. ..yet...Greg is doing better...so...that helps. Not great....but better.

We are closed Thursday till Monday am due to the 4th. I need it! LOL!

We did get that contract....two of them....from two different places. He asked about another department...and we said no. Not at this point. Have to make sure we can take care of waht we have first. He understood.

Okay..shower ...and work.

Wishing all a good day

I had planned to run this morning but it didn't happen, or this afternoon. We did walk this evening, I haven't quite made 100% of my activity but 97% is OK.
My mother's care home has one case of Covid so it's closed to visitors again-this is unfortunate as my brother is coming from Scotland to see her (and other people) but will have returned before the quarantine time is up, hoping he'll be able to chat through the garden fence..

Sleep: I need to learn to go to bed at a sensible time... something I haven't done for years.

I only have 8k steps so far so need to more! Yesterday I only got 10k because our kids surprised us and came down! I was so glad to see them. We are all going to Tennessee together next week but it was nice to finish up the planning.

Heather, you are a great motivator! And I love your posts.

Marianne, I struggle with getting 8 hours of sleep also. I wake up after about 6 & then canít get back to sleep. Friday night it was after 2am before I fell asleep. Takes its toll on us.

Peggy, congratulations to your sister on the new grand baby!

Enjoy whatís left of your day.

WG, that book sounds like one I need to check out. I struggle with sleep, even before Covid-19, and have been experimenting with several strategies to improve. What you said about blood sugar, lack of sleep and hunger makes so much sense to me. Last night I slept for 8 hours, the first time in weeks. A bigger lunch, light dinner, and no snacking afterward, along with only reading for 30 minutes before closing my eyes all helped, Iím sure. The experiment continues...

Heather, you have been entertaining and motivating many of us for years! emoticon emoticon I always enjoy the photos of your meals.

Hi Everyone. It is so good to see you all on here. Loved the motivational information. It is harder as the summer goes on and the Covid burnout is happening.

I was reading my book on obesity, The Obesity Code. It is pretty good and has a lot of information. Yesterday's chapter dealt with sleep. It is super important to get enough sleep as not getting sleep triggers the hunger hormones and decreases the satisfaction hormones. Meaning we get hungrier when we are tired. Not a surprise I'm sure. Sleeping only 4 hours at night increases our blood sugar and therefore, we lose all around. Not only are we hungry and tired, but we also are gaining weight despite our best efforts.

It meant a lot to me because I haven't slept well the past week. I can feel it in many ways. Not only am I not eating well or healthy, I'm not feeling as good because of the hunger and other hormones. I feel like this was happening to me last week. Hopefully I'll sleep better this week and will be able to get on top of this eating thing for this week.

Heather, congrats on being motivator of the day. You are truly a motivational person for sure.

Mary, hoping you can get your nutrition where you want it. And hopefully this week will be better

Peggy, congrats to your sister. It is hard even living in the same town. They don't let family into the hospital except for one visitor and if a person is dying and doesn't have Covid, they allow 4 but only two at a time. If they have Covid, they do allow 2, but new moms only get spouse/other with them. No other visitors.

My list includes increasing movement. I need to up my steps and get ready to move differently next week.
Keep eating on plan. I am doing well with timing but have been snacking a bit more than is good for me. In the past I've been able to say, "I'm not hungry and ate enough earlier." I'm getting back to that.
Getting enough sleep. This means going to bed on time (no more late night movies) and getting up on time. No naps during the day.

Have a great day. I'm off to get things put away and entertain grands.

Call me WG

Peggy - Congrats on the addition to the family. It must be difficult for your sister to be so far away during this exciting event. Yesterday was Zona's 50th birthday and all day I was lonesome for her and my DS. It is difficult with them living so far away in GA.

Mary - with all the walking you do, I can see why you are piling up exercise points. The only thing I will add is that our body gets used to our normal routine and some times we need to change things to get losing again. Good luck, it looks like you have someone to tell you what to do to get losing again as well. How is Greg doing with his hand?

Heather - Congrats on your fun day yesterday! You deserve to be SP Motivator! And looks like you have an admirer. You never know who is reading our stuff until they reach out.

I am working on my list today and the very first failure was some negative self talk! I had the healthy breakfast and am on track with my water but I let the neg self talk bring me down.

Good morning we're off for our walk and then we are going to pick up our two week supply of bagels at Bagel King.

We'll get to say hi to Debbie. She has been going every day. She sat outside when you couldn't eat inside.

Way to go Mary!! I will look at my tracker for last week and see what I did. Thanks for the idea

Yesterday my sister Patty got to be a grandmother for the second time. Her son George and daughter in law Jess had a baby boy Elliot

Too bad they're out in California and Patty is in NY.

Have a great day.

Good morning to all!

I never made it yesterday...we went in in the am....and that took some time...home....ww zoom meeting....walked and prepped my food for today! I think..I am too busy.

My nutritional goal this week...the food groups. I have been at a loss...wondering...why the scale seems to be so slow. I am fortunate..to have someone go over my tracker...and...LOL..I truly do not get in the food groups...and have to many weeklies and rolllovers each week...but tons of fitness points. Will see if this helps.

Okay...everyone have a good day. Behind here on sparks

I am so inspired by you, I have been on and off sparks for a year, and weigh even more than when I started. At 5'10 and 215# I wondered why I keep doing this, until I read your blog. I want to look like you look, more importantly I want to smile again like you smile!

Third....I got an email from Sparks saying ....

Iím so mad at myself! Work wasnít the best this week & of course I took my frustrations out on my body! I ate potato chips, nachos and anything else I could find! I was lucky to escape with no gain. But like WG said water retention isnít fun!

Sharon, glad she was able to get your vein on the first try. Iím not so lucky. The last time she stuck me twice in my right arm and once in my left before she got it.

I love all the ďchangesĒ. Iíll be working on my list & be back.

I have been compiling my list as well and here it is:

1. Eat a healthy breakfast within an hour of waking in the morning.
2. Drink two glasses of water with supplements in the morning
3. Drink two glasses of water before going to bed
4. Do not sit for more than an hour without getting up and moving
5. Weather permitting, try to go outside and walk around when you get up to move
6. Be conscious of negative self talk
7. Do PT stretching exercises every day
8. Do 10 minutes of active exercise every day
9. When eating fill you plate and walk away Ė no seconds
10. No sugary snacks as they lead to binging

Of course, my weight is down this morning! I hope I can keep it going down. I'd like to finish the challenge with a bang. That's the only bang I hope to hear on the 4th!

Thanks Peggy....
Yes it is longer but the shoulder length is where it will stay.
You cannot see it really good in the picture the way I combed my hair BUT I also have not dyed my hair since Feburary....so have about 2 to 3 inches of grey now.
Not sure if I will leave it go or not....I still tend to cover the grey * sometimes * with root cover up spray..... emoticon

Good morning all!!

Finished riding the bike and now Jerry is riding it. Then we are off to Publix after a short ride around town just to get the car moving.

I have been tracking everything I eat each day. Usually I did it every few days but then I forgot things so this way I am putting everything down while it is fresh in my mind.

Heather I love the picture. Your hair is really long.

Have a great day.

My list needs to include getting to 100% of my daily exercise (I have a polar activity tracker), some days are fine, others can be pathetic! Yesterday I ran 5K, today we are meeting up with DD2 for a socially distant walk (we haven't seen her her DH since Christmas face to face).
Eating I need to stay on plan, would be good to stop nibbling as I cook (bur I do stick to veggies then).
I'm up another fraction today-I'm in desperate need of a whoosh.....

Arlene, very sorry about your pain. Unremitting pain is so debilitating. I hate the drugs too so trying to learn to juggle some pain relief techniques with drugs as last resort. Hope the rain misses you.

My small changes list:

Exercise 20-30 minutes first thing in the morning. PT and limited mobility exercises for now.
No snacking after dinner.
Six servings freggies daily.
One glass of water first before I eat any meal or snack.
Herb tea at night.
Track every bite!
Measure portions.

Hi Everyone. Held the weight. I had hoped to have a loss but it didn't last. I'm being careful this week and the snacking/munching during the day is going away. It seems to be the thing that gets me. I've been doing a mental check and really aren't hungry but am bored. A lot of that going on here.

I think it is harder to lose weight in the summer than winter. I think the heat does a number on our bodies and we hold onto water so we can sweat it off. Our bodies are pretty smart and do a lot of things to keep us alive.

Mary, I hope Greg can be more helpful although I expect he still isn't lifting with that hand. Hopefully you can survive this week as well.

SEK, have a fun weekend. I'm glad you are getting some time out in nature camping. It sounds like fun.

Sharon, I have done moist heat for years. I was the one who could hit veins that no one else could hit. It was helpful. A lot of people would use the warm towels but the moist heat made a difference. I hate it when someone leaves me bruised and painful. And I have good veins.

Brenda, glad you got rid of the things volunteering to grow in your yard. I usually wear gloves but almost everything makes me break out so I wouldn't know.

Heather, I don't know if I would like that weather. You live in an area that should be a bit cooler, I would think. I hope you can survive the heat and not be too miserable. It is supposed to be cool and rainy the start of next week so another break.

Tessa, I think that our bodies hold onto liquid when we are exercising in the heat. My hands and feet swell and it is uncomfortable. Even my daughter's hands swell. It might be that. Up your water intake this week and see if it makes a difference.

TC, have a good weekend at work.

Sharon, I know you are where you need to be. Just a few small adjustments and you will get there. It is hard to change everything at once so your challenge this week will be helpful for me for sure.

Peggy, so glad Liam is willing to tell you his stories. It is great fun to be entertained by a small child with a great imagination.

Arlene, I do hope the injection will help. It is so hard to have a painful back and they are hard to change or fix. I hope you can enjoy your week until the injection..

I'm holding but haven't been as careful as I should. I will redouble my efforts this week and do some serious looking at my habits and behaviors. I need to find a substitute for whatever I'm doing for stress/boredom.

Have a great day.

Not a good week :(. I didn't come back from the weekend as well as I had hoped but I will say it is better than it was on Monday. I just relaxed too much with our family gathering. Next week probably won't be as bad since it will just be Darrell, Jenny & I. I guess my pain issue isn't helping either. It's also been a mental struggle for me.

I had my visit at the Pain Clinic and have an appt set for an injection, that is on Tuesday July 7th. I have to say I came away from my appt the other day not very happy either. The news was pretty much as I expected, it was just the attitude of the PA I saw, it was something I haven't experienced in a long time. I finally told her I wasn't expecting miracles I just wanted to know what my options were. I found out the nerves that are being compressed in my spine are controlling the pain in my upper leg. And the pain is excruciating most of the time. She did give me some Tramodol to help till I get the injection. I don't like those kind of drugs but right now I'm willing to try anything.

I hope everyone has a good last week. I didn't realize till yesterday that I won't be here for most of the last week. It's our 4th of July time in Bismarck with Jenny since they are planning to have the concert on the Capitol steps, IF IT DOESN'T RAIN. We need the rain badly but that day would be bad timing also.

Good morning all!!

We're took our walk and then had some coffee and oatmeal with everything in it.

I'm working on my cousin's tree today. It should be another fun day. My studio is starting to look a little neater.

I got both loads of wash done and the sheets are back on the bed and everything looks neat in there again.

I'm going over for my morning coffee to hear what Liam has to say today.

When I watched him yesterday while his mother had to go somewhere, when we were done playing he said let's go to the kitchen table and talk. He really is a great story teller but it's all made up.

He said his college is behind the police station in the bushes. When he is saying all of this he has a very serious look on his face and it's hard not to laugh out loud.

Have a great day.

Norm and I both had bad weeks with all our social eating out! Norm gained .5 lb and I was up two pounds. I am sort of glad this is our last week but I have to agree with Mary. The challenge has helped keep me in check. I have had a couple binge sessions this week though and that has got to stop!!

Good Morningt....this will be brief...for we are getting storms and do not want the computer on in case we lose power. I thought we were safe...for nothing last night...if we did...I did not hear them! LOL! I am tired!

I promise to be back later on!

I have to tell you Sharon...thank you ever so much for this. I know this is a hard time period for us all...and it was hard to do this...but personally...I feel...we must and so does everyone for they are here. No matter what the scale ends up saying...it was better than...if not being here....in my opiinion.

I care about you all!

Have been reading everyone's posts all week.....but seem to always get behind one way or another when it comes to posting myself.

Sharon....I worked in an ICU & we had this kindly old Doctor who taught us how to take blood specimens. He always said that we should put warm wet towels on the arm first and always give the vein we want to use several light taps before *going for it* ( LOL )
I took blood specimens out in the community as well and this technique never failed me. My patients use to call me the vampire! emoticon

Judy have a great weekend

Mary....hope all went well for Greg getting off the cast and stitches out....

Tessa...my fingers are crossed for your weight to go back down so you can finish this challenge with NO gains!

WG.... our temps are so high ( 90 to 100 ) during the day that thunder/ lightening storms seem to be par for the course. We have alerts for more storms this weekend....so we have removed the roof of our gazebo and put stuff away.

I have had another bad week with my eating.....scales climbing the few times I checked. Alex cut down some so he might just have a loss.

On a better note....we have *one small * morning glory showing ( yea Alex

My Mantras this week have been simple....

Sharon I have been told if you are cold the veins like to hide so I always try to make sure my arms are warm when I go in so the the vein will be right there to get the blood.

trying to get back on track I have fixed 2 real good meal this week and my # is up . Haven't had energy to do much but we have takin a walk the past few evening
.
Mike worked hard yesterday got all the ugly weeds and tree starts pulled up in the back & side of yard looks good now. There is one tree looking thing looks like poison something & I won't touch it he did and nothing so far nothing on his arms but he did scrub with a poison ivy exstream scrub cleanser.

Don't know much else so have a great Friday

Trying to eat healthy exercise daily, slow down my pace in life think positive and all in all get in Better Shape and Keep Heart healthy and enjoy the life God has given me.
