Remind me not to buy cheese, I just can't control myself around it, well not at the moment it seems.
I needed to take a few bits to my Mum (can't visit at the moment) so decided to use that as my exercise today, I did walk/jog there and back 28 mins each way, 4.3 miles round trip.

4 mile walk this afternoon so that's my exercise done for today.
My sister in law has been ill but is recovering, nothing serious (her husband is a doctor so we know it was corona)

Heather, my original training was teaching (secondary school, maths-my degree subject). I work for a charity (NCT), they train us (I trained nearly 30 years ago!). As well as the information & skills we need to give parents we have lots of training in adult education & facilitation skills. I've been able to work round my children (mainly evenings and weekends plus a little daytime work while they were in school). It's been great but I'll be retiring in the next few years I'm sure, though the voluntary side may continue!

Let's keep moving and eating well-we can do this (we had take away yesterday & alcohol oops!)

TC, I want to eat at your house, sounds delicious! The pot roast turned out to be quite tasty and the best part is we can get a couple of more dinners from it.

Sharon, we’re nearing three weeks of stay at home, mandated by the 6 Bay Area public health offices. Pete hasn’t done more than take a brief walk (rain off and on) and I shopped twice before figuring out how to make home grocery delivery work. Our social contact is limited to phone and FaceTime, so far. We do live in the area of CA with the most virus cases so hunkering down seems wise.

Brenda, I have such a craving for chocolate chip cookies and I can’t remember the last time I ate one, LOL. Really trying to resist the sugar monster.

Tessa, my granddaughter is using Zoom to teach her class of 11 and 12 year olds online; I need to get our kids and grandkids to try it for a family visit.

I’m trying an egg and bacon muffin recipe later today and post if it turns out.

. For Heather. The bread is called loven fresh from aldi. My pre BG was 104, 1 hr post 130 so up 26 points. Supposedly, 10 or more points spikes an insulin response.

Sharon, it is nice to be missed. I love your mini challenge. The food looks awesome.

Marianne, your meatballs sounded good and the roast... amazing ! Fresh thyme market had BOGO on roasts so I got 4 3lb roasts for $10 each. In freezer for now since I made chicken alfredo broccoli mushrooms with provolone cheese and last night was spicy sausage with Italian tomato's and cabbage fried in butter with more Italian seasoning.

Tessa, most of the RV parks across the USA are closed so no camping for us yet. Good that you can get out. Prayers that your power point goes smoothly but just warn them prior and you are off the hook.

Brenda, Good you got outside. I still envy your treadmill.

My weight was back up 231 yesterday. Boooooo…… Showed Mike my swelling on my knee and distal. Getting better though.

Well, restrictions change on a day to day basis around the world! As of midnight last night, our county went on a Shut Down Notice until April 14th. That means no more little get togethers like last night. Now, anyone over 60 is asked to stay home. So we will probably have it worse for the next couple of weeks while the cases peak. Fortunately, we still have no cases in our county.

Living in the RV park, we can move around in the park so I can get out and walk Nala. We already went for a walk this morning. Sand burs are horrible right now. We walk on the road but she went in the grass to do her business and I had to pick 12 burs out of her fur when we got home. No More grass!

emoticon Tessa....one more question? And I promise I will stop! emoticon
Are you a nurse or midwife?
I use to teach prenatal classes when I was working. I loved it! And I did follow up visits at home for Mom's and newborns.....

We are NOT as restricted as you seem to be either Tessa. People here no matter the age are allowed out for walks for example.....any amount of time or number of times. They are only saying that we give space to others as we pass them and to NOT stop & chat to them.

We are only suppose to have no more than 5 people in one gathering. That 5 includes those living at that residence. And we cannot travel from province to province unless we want to self isolate for 14 days. We live across from the province of Quebec so if we cross the bridge ( a lot of people cross because cigarettes & beer are cheaper are on the Indian Reserve which is just at the other end of the bridge )
So buying cheaper cigarettes & beer will cost you 14 days of self isolation! emoticon

Sharon, sounds like your restrictions aren't as great as ours. We can only meet with one other person and must stay 2m apart. We have to stay home except for essential shopping (food/medicine) and going out once a day for exercise. If you are over 70 or have certain medical conditions then it's stay home, don't go out at all.
Last night we had a virtual family get together on Zoom which was fun. One of our 4 opted out, not sure what he was up to!
Heather, I work part time, very few hours now (self employed). I run groups & classes for pregnant and new parents. Some of it is voluntary, some paid. Friday's session was about starting baby on food. Using Zoom it was possible for it to be a bit interactive even if we couldn't do it face to face.

emoticon idea for the challenge, Sharon. No problem getting 30 minutes of indoor exercise, but since it’s chilly and rainy here for a few days, I’ll do my outside activity in two 10 minute walks with the dogs. emoticon

Down half a pound today, total of 12 since January. Very slow; at least clothes are fitting better.

Since I have a nice 3 lb chuck roast I put a pot roast recipe together in the slow cooker. Didn’t have carrots but will add frozen brussel sprouts the last hour of cooking. Also a good way to use up what’s left of a nice bottle of red wine. I have fresh thyme, dill, cilantro and basil growing in the house — love just clipping a bit of what the recipe calls for.

No nutrition info so I’ll weigh 3 ounces of meat and log the veggies I eat. Guesstimating, lol.

Heather - yes, the pork steak had a nice bone in it. But it looks bigger because the steak kinda curled when cooking Sometimes I eat Cool Whip out of the freezer but yesterday I had thawed Cool Whip.

The clubhouse here is closed and locked. A few of the men went to the mgr to ask if we could order some pizzas and eat them in the clubhouse later today. She said fine if there is less than 10. We have 8 so I guess that's what we are going to do! I am saving all my carbs so I can have some pizza!

Tessa....keep up the great work. You are doing SO well. What type of work do you do? Is it full time?

Carol.....you are doing good with your yoga & fasting. Keep on truck'in girl!

TC....what is the brand name on the 0 Carb bread you are talking about? Want to look it up here.
I have heard from other diabetics in my family that the dietitian always says to eat protein with carbs....especially for bedtime snacks.

Sharon....thanks for the mini challenge. And nice photo of your meal with the pork steak! WOW that looks like a lot of meat for 4 ounces. Was there a bone in it?
Do you put your Cool Whip in the freezer? Alex finds the frozen Cool Whip tastes more like ice cream when he does this.

Marianne.....I would probably use all ground chicken for my meatballs. And add a bit more spices. And do them in my air fryer.

Brenda.... your cheesy potato casserole sounds Delish!

Today I was down 0.4. I seem to be on the YoYo Diet again!

Good Evening Ladies!

I belong to a FaceBook group called SlimFast Keto Together. Since I haven't been eating low carb for the last week, I quit posting. One of the ladies sent a personal message last night to see if I was OK as she missed my posts. It was sweet of her and really got me back on track. Some times that is all it takes. BTW, I am back posting with the group!

That being said, I had Buttered Coffee for breakfast. Snack of SF Fat Bomb. My lunch was 4 oz of pork steak, 2 servings of brussel sprouts and dessert of Two Good Blueberry Yogurt with 1/4 cup fresh blueberries topped with Cool Whip and 1 TBSP of sugar free chocolate chips

I am eating an Atkins Peanut Butter meal replacement bar with a cup of coffee while I'm sparking. I had 1178 calories and 21 carbs for the day!

Tessa - best wishes for tomorrow! It is a shame so much is being cancelled right now but I keep telling myself, it would be so much worse if we didn't have all the shut downs.

Brenda - I love Texas Roadhouse but there is none here to even order take out from.

TC - it looks like the knee is doing good. Just be careful and don't push too hard or you'll be out of work longer. I haven't been able to find the bread at Aldie's yet. I am anxious to try it. In the mean time, I do like an occasional chaffle.

Hi to everyone I missed! I am enjoying everyone sharing their menus!

Heather, the lean beef mixed with the ground turkey ups the calories too, but I make small meatballs, and weigh my portions to approximate calories. Pete probably eats two servings at a time — still better than a 10 ounce rib eye. emoticon

Marianne? The recipe makes 12....so one meatball is 90 calories? Seems a lot?

OOPS....LOL....read it wrong.....it is 3 meatballs for 90 calories....

Tessa, wishing you no glitches for your tech work session. We cancelled a few RV trips and are waiting to see if the one on the California coast at the end of May will have to be cancelled too.

TC, hope your knee is continuing to improve after the meniscus surgery.

My weight is not changing, I guess it’s a plateau, but I’ll try patience. emoticon
I had some fresh spinach to use up so last night I baked turkey meatballs, but of course, I tweaked the recipe. I doubled it, using lean ground beef for half the meat and fresh, instead of frozen spinach. Pete loved it, and I froze quite a bit for later meals.

Tomorrow I have my first work session since everything has had to go to online. I've done some informal groups but this one needs to be right. I'm worried I'll mess up the technology or forget to cover some important point. I've taught this session at least twice a month for the last year or so but it feels very different talking to a screen using some powerpoint slides (that seem to lose pictures for no reason at all!)

I'm trying to keep moving-went for a short run this morning, this week we've had lovely sunny weather. Eating is OK

We were due to go off on holiday in the motorhome on Sunday-this would have been our ski holiday but that got cancelled when I broke my wrist, We decided we'd visit an area of France, maybe have a day in Paris etc.. a few weeks ago we realised that wouldn't happen, Surely we'd be able to go away in England, no! So now we need to plan some fun things to do next week at home when DH isn't working, think he's going to be rather busy over the easter break as they want a new timetable for next term.

Not surprisingly wt back up to 232 today after walking 6k steps or more past 2 days. Rt thigh is so tight and definately bigger. More painful this morning too. probably back to work 6th. Brb....

I am back. Heather, i guess i was trying to encourage you to have a protein if you had to have a carb at bedtime. We all know our bodies want to hang on to calories eaten after 6pm. I love that you have gone back to SW. I think that worked best for you.

Carol, i feel your frustration. There is research out there that fasting even 3 days helps reset our brain and insulin sensitivity. Do not beat yourself up, just keep making the best choices you can. The poor kids are struggling. Many are very touchy feely. Well done getting your A1C down !! I am so very proud of you ! Can you order TP on amazon, thrive market, or other online store ?

Brenda, we are ordering out yet but we put our food on our plates, throw out boxes, wash hands again and enjoy. They are saying the virus is not in food. It is on surfaces from what i have seen reported.

Salad for lunch today. Being lazy... Lol ! Bought 2 rotisserie chickens from walmart yesterday and they were bloody yet so going to make casserole's and re cook them. Thinking broccoli alfredo sauce for first casserole. Aldi finally had the zero carb bread. Tastes awesome, soft, reasonable price at 3.49. I need to see what it does to BG though.

Doing better....with my eating but weight is still up today from Saturday.
Yesterday ( Tuesday ) would normally have been a Line Dancing Day and we always had a bowl of veggie ( Alex's home made....only has chicken stock...turnips...carrots...& onions all blended together )
So we had soup at Lunch time...and I had made some H/G cinnamon bagel bites in the air fryer to have with the soup...
I had 2....my son tried 1.....Alex ate the rest! Guess I won't be making them again anytime soon! www.hungry-girl.com/recipe-m

innamon-bagel-bites

For supper ....made a veggie/ham omelette(another line dance supper routine)

Had one slice of diet homemade whole wheat toast with this....

And my S/W usual bedtime lunch!

Read this article from TOPS and thought it was good....so going to share it....

Carol, I can’t even order TP for delivery from either of our 2 grocery stores, or yeast. emoticon

Yesterday was usual oatmeal breakfast, veggie salad with an egg for lunch, and a spinach quiche I made for dinner — wish I’d taken a picture. This morning fresh spinach wilted with turkey bacon for breakfast, another salad for lunch, and chicken sausage with rice and veggies for dinner.

I am hanging in there! Not losing but since the initial water weight gain from eating carbs again, my weight has leveled off and staying there. I am taking it one day at a time.

I have to alter my partial fasting hours today. I was up at 0600 to get to the grocery store by 0700 in our never ending search for TP. When I got home at 0730, I had my breakfast so I won't be able to eat past 6pm. I did pretty well yesterday. Tonight's my night to cook, so I'll have to figure out how to use some left-overs.

ps: still no TP

I've been absent for quite a while. Sigh...

I'm still trying to get back ON the wagon. I finally have a friend in yoga who is trying to eat healthier (everybody else seems to do just fine already). We can keep a watchful eye on each other.

With my yoga studio and gym closed I'm having to do exercise at home. DH and I went for a 40 minute walk yesterday on a trail out in the country south of town. Everybody and their dogs were there, keeping well apart. People were pleasant. One little girl tried to high five me, but I avoided that, I hope she wasn't hurt. Forgot to take my tracker, darn it. By the way, a 6.1 mile walk is a 5k. Tessa you must have great legs!

My best yoga buddies are texting every day. One is retired and one works from home all the time, tho' she's had her hours cut. I'm glad I paid off my credit cards last Fall; there won't be any luxuries now. No long vacations. Maybe petsitters will drop their prices to promote business?

I'm still trying to maintain the partial fast, eating only between noon and 8. The article about comfort eating is for me - my task now that I'm home is de-cluttering. None of the thrift stores are accepting stuff now, so I'll have to store big bags and boxes in my 3rd bedroom. I did kitchen drawers today. As I get ready for the day, I toss things from my clothes closets in to piles. Feels kinda good!

TC, my prayers for quick healing of your knee! Did you ask for the LR vs. saline?

I'm gritting my teeth about sugar. My glucose is fine, A1C is 6 or below. I'm trying to copy my yoga friend who allows herself one sweet a day. Good thing I don't like to bake. Or cook for that matter.

My mantras are at the end of my posts, for anyone to share.

emoticon

TC......
I know I probably should not eat carbs before bed but toast ( bread ) has carbs too?
I cannot keep peanut butter in my house .....it is one thing that drives me into a PB frenzy....once I open the jar I keep going back and eating it till it is done! I have not had PB now for 29 months! I would not think of one spoonful.....it is as bad as my cigs were emoticon

We never use sugar for anything. And now that we have swerve here I use that to replace in any recipe that calls for sugar.
As for desserts...I make them for Alex....but never eat them myself...
Neither Alex or myself have any problems with our sugars... we check & they are always in the normal range.

Maybe I should go back to having my whole wheat biscuits with light cheese wedges and ham and some grapes.....for my night lunch like I did with Slimming World before!
Going to change my cereal to this tonight.....

Heather, I keep procrastinating on Spring cleaning but I printed the article you shared and have committed to the daily de-cluttering. Not only way over-do, but will keep me from eating. emoticon

TC, hope the pain is manageable and you are on the road to recovery. I have a love/hate relationship with tracking, but it does keep me honest with myself.

Tessa, fantastic walk! I’ve been aiming for 5 miles a day, even with our drizzly rain, and averaging close to 6 lately. Lack of face to face socialization is stressful — walking helps.

Sharon, you can do this! emoticon

Breakfast is oatmeal with berries and yogurt; lunch is a veggie salad, and dinner will be chicken sausage with broccoli slaw. Pete supplements his dinner with a baked potato. I have herb tea and sugarless gum if I want something else.

OK - I'm trying! This morning was my Buttered Coffee for breakfast. I have a pot roast in my slow cooker for dinner. I will throw carrots and potatoes in the pot for Norm but I will eat mine with cole slaw. Dinner will be a meal replacement bar. It looks good in the tracker. Now I will let you know if I stick to it tomorrow!

Heather carbs before bed ? Toast with PB may be better since carbs in cereal and milk. Just a suggestion sweetie. Still have a treat but may be 3 hrs before bed ? These are things i have read. I hope you are making your desserts with swerve or stevia then may be less sugar insulin spike response ? I

9 mile walk yesterday (2 hrs 35 mins so good pace), it's nice to know I still have some endurance!

Something that can be helpful is to write down and possibly share what you are going to eat the next day. You then commit to eating that and only that (no extras). You could report back and tell us about the following day.

Very strange having a Sunday with no church. We've listened to a service but it's not the same as meeting together...

Two mantras I often say...( they come from a WW article ) LOVE these~

"It's what you do next that matters."

"Only the ones that don't try don't make mistakes."
( TO THIS ONE~~I ADD~~* JUST learn from those mistakes! * )

Since being more housebound these days with no Line Dancing & No Swimming....
To stop *some* of my bored eating....I started cleaning my cupboards and drawers ( as in a real good Spring Cleaning ~~Cleaning! emoticon )
If I had kept that up...I would have not been so tempted to eat~~

SO this week I am going to do some more...PLUS I am going to try and follow through on this for the next month~~

emoticon Tessa!

I’m up a pound and not happy, it’s emotional eating and I spent some time looking for inspiration / reminder to stop. I’m already part of a challenge on another team, in a leadership role. May I suggest that each of us who are inclined share a healthy tip or inspiration each day? Most of these will not be new ideas, however sometimes one needs a bit of motivation. emoticon

This morning I came across this, and printed it out to tape on my board where I HAVE to see it.

“Eating to find comfort is a learned habit. It is a habit like brushing your teeth. It is a habit that you can break with conscious effort and a plan to replace it with a healthier coping technique.”
Beat Boredom and Stress-Related Eating by Becky, Spark Coach
She suggests activities many of us are already familiar with like walking, other exercise, yoga, crafting, listening to music, meditating. Postponement and diversion are the key ideas.

Second tip is from one of Spark’s research articles. I saved it some time ago to remind me to track, which I have been doing steadily for 2 months now, including the foods I’m not proud of. You can track calories, WW points, carbs — whatever works for you — but you do need a record to stay accountable to yourself.

“Individuals who tracked their food lost twice as much weight as those who didn't self-monitor their food intake. Frequency matters, too. You have to track, and track often. Another study cited showed that a group who weighed in more often lost more pounds than a group of people who weighed in less frequently.”

emoticon Those who are paying attention can see I sneaked in a third possible idea, daily weighing. This is controversial and doesn’t work for everyone.

I had a gain for the week! No surprise as I'm eating carbs again. So far today I am LC - hoping to get back on track!

I agree a new challenge is needed. However, I'll be honest. The next few weeks are very uncertain for me with traveling and spending time with family. I just don't think I'll have time until I get home (hopefully the middle of April) You can muddle on until then or someone else may step up and take on doing a challenge for us. Keep in mind we are all struggling with the exception of Tessa who is going great guns!!

NO EXCUSES HERE.....but I have * fallen off the wagon * as well!

Just cannot seem to get myself together....so eating way to many carbs..... emoticon and it shows me up 1.6 on the scales this morning!

I made this Spark recipe for my supper last night. But of course mine looked nothing like their photo.... emoticon because I had cut it up on my plate before I remembered to take a picture. I also forgot to add the dollop of FF yogurt .....

AND......I added more cheese than their recipe called for.....THAT is the kind of things I have been doing! emoticon

I also made a dessert from a Hungry Girl recipe ( mostly for Alex )
www.hungry-girl.com/weekly-r

Again.... emoticon mine did not look like hers because I skipped the cone.....and just used ramekin dishes.. ...

I tried one but found it way too sweet....so only ate this much....

Alex finished it! emoticon sadly he is also having a hard time....

I wish my aversion to sweet stuff spilled over to regular foods! Wouldn't that be great eh?

My weight is up 5 lbs but i suspect it is swelling from surgery since i usually go up 10 after surgerys. At least they used LR instead of saline. I ate 2 meals yesterday since fasted for surgery. Egg salad, cheese and lillys bar, then salad and quest cookie for supper. Had boiled eggs, coffee, bacon and 1 slice low carb bread so far today.

Looks like we need another challenge soon ? Carol, our self talk is so important. I use some cd's that help when i feel out of control. I still need to update my vision board. Tessa, how awesome you are back to running !! I will never do that but i hope my knees stay strong enough to hike.

I think we are all likely to go off plan at some point in these crazy times.
In England so much has changed this week. I can no longer run any of the groups for Mums but I'm learning how to use conference/webinar type software. Delivering sessions is going to be very different.
Schools will close on Friday so no idea what that will mean for DH, maybe next years school timetable will be finished in record time!
On a positive note I jogged round the park-first running I've done for 2 months and it was good! So nice to be able to move at more than a walk.
I was able to take my Mum out for a walk on Monday, they are now closed to visitors, I really hope they all stay well.

I am sorry to admit that I have fallen off the wagon. I ate carbs at our potluck last night and I can't seem to stop. That is the down side of LC/HF! I am trying to get back on but the BLT I had for lunch sure tasted good. I haven't been over eating so that's something to crow about.

Down half a pound after weighing in for BLC. Very surprised since I had corned beef yesterday, but really trying not to stress eat. Things are much more challenging here, even after a couple of days. CA has expanded shelter in place order to several more large counties.

Another day over - kitchen closed at 6pm!

We had such a good dinner. We grilled and shared a rib eye steak with grilled aspargus. Then I made some red skin potatoes for Norm. We both had SF Jello w/whipped cream and 1 tbsp Lily's No Sugar Baking Chips. Yum!

All the talk in our park is about how bare the stores are with no food or paper products. I don't know how long it can last before we all are running out!

my long term goal is to get into the 50's. I walked a lot back then and had nice legs emoticon

I'm not doing well at all, and I know I'm not trying hard enough. Self talk, counting, 16 and 8 fast, etc. Not going to do keto. What I really want is to re-set my mentality to not want to eat so much.
Big sigh.....

I am down 2 lbs from last Saturday so the weight is coming off. It's amazing how much better I feel when I eat correctly for my body. If only those darn carbs and sugars would quit calling to me!!

Tessa - WOW! 150's I can only dream of seeing that on my scale! Right now I am just focusing on getting back in to Onederland! That is my mini goal and hoping to get there by when we leave here.

TC - you take the time and rest up the knee. After surgery you can work on losing weight!

Heather - every loss no matter how small is exciting! I am happy for your loss but not for all that snow! I sure hope MI didn't get any.

I'm down this week and into the 150s so I'm happy.
I was able to drive to my session yesterday (about 40 mins) which made life so much easier. My work continues for now but suspect we'll be working online very soon.

Heather I see you have more snow to move!
Good luck with weigh ins

Heather - some times my chaffles are soft. If I want them crispier, I let them cool and then toast them. A lot of people put a little cheese in their waffle maker, then the batter and then top it with a little more cheese so the chaffle is crispier!

I am hoping to report a loss tomorrow. Good luck to those of us weighing in!

I am not sure why we need to be reminded of this? .....just because of the Corona virus. Surely most everyone washes their hands?
As an *old* nurse trained in the *old * ways. We hardly ever wore plastic gloves ....and we hardly ever wore face masks....and we did not have lifts for transferring patients.....my list goes on & on...
And we survived viruses by constantly washing our hands ( only problems nurses had was dry dry skin )
We survived *bugs* without using masks by covering our mouth with hands or arms if we were coughing....& turning our heads away if someone else was coughing....
Backs were protected by * good body mechanics *......like using leg muscles versus back muscles.....

Good Luck to everyone who will be weighing in tomorrow!

I''m staying below 1500 cals, but I think I really need to ramp up the cardio. A friend on another SP group is over 80 y.o., uses a walker and walks more than me. emoticon

My hubby's birthday is Monday, St Pat's is Tuesday, and that's when I get my first hearing aide. Oh joy.

I have my Yin/Yoga Nidra class tonight; restorative yoga plus meditation. I don't fall asleep, some do, but I get my monkey brain to settle down a bit.

Tessa, have fun with your new car.

TC, I hope your knee gets better soon. Do you wear a brace of any kind?

emoticon job by those of you losing weight.

Morning!
I woke up this morning and was really hungry so I made myself a batch of Chaffles using Maple Extract. They were so good and reminded me of McDonald's McGriddle. I just buttered them but I may buy some sausage patties so I can actually make a McGriddle Breakfast sandwich.

When I see a new number on the scale I often wonder if it's for real. I tend to stick on one number for 5-6 days then the scale moves. Today I've seen a number in the 150s, just hope it's here to stay emoticon

Looks awesome ! I love mushrooms. Mom hates them. Sharon great job increasing steps ! I walked 10 k today at therapy, casino, taking walmart stuff back and walked squeek to park. My knee is killing me now so elevated and icing it. First attempt at remaking the low carb bread to make it less carb was a flop. Good flavor, no rise and dense. Gonna try again. Trying to decrease vital wheat gluten. Added protein powder to last loaf.

Are you getting any pay at all being off work? I always had sick time pay where I worked. Never used much of it but it was there if I needed it. It paid me at whatever I was getting if I was at work.....

Finally, the Whoosh Fairy arrived and I had a nice drop at the scale this morning!

Today for the first, I didn't struggle with my walking at my exercise class. After my hip bursitis, I didn't walk enough and my endurance took a big hit. But it's coming back! Today I walked 2 miles and kept right up with the younger ladies!

Tessa & Sharon, well done ! I saw that Mary has advanced in the amerithon race also. She is amazing ! I also see her steps have increased a lot !

I am back up today after eating buffet yesterday. Food was super salty. Stuck with salad, bacon, chicken leg, sausage & broccoli/ cauli mix. Dinner was steak and asparagus at home. BG was good though.

Congrats to all who lost or didn't gain as much as expected!

I tried driving yesterday, just a couple of miles-I can do it but it isn't comfortable changing gear. However we are getting a new car on Wednesday and it's automatic so that will be easier. Perfect timing!
I'm not exercising almost at all at present but have been walking parkrun (when it's not raining). This week I cut my time again (5K in 41.12), it's nice to be able to push myself and see progress though I'm sure I'm losing muscle now.

I had a loss of 2.2 lbs this week so that is a total of 6.4 since I started back on low carb. I am trying to stay under 50 net carbs a day. I'm not losing as fast but I'm happy.

Today I went to lunch with a couple girlfriends. I was able to go to the salad bar, have a cup of tortilla soup and my meal was grilled shrimp with sauteed veggies. A delicious meal and 37 net carbs.

Tessa - I am always waiting for a visit from the Whoosh Fairy!

Tessa, I thought the 161 was awesome for you but whoosh fairy is funner. Glad you got the cast off.

I love seeing what all of you are eating. I have been so boring. hamburgers, chicken, steak, veggies. I always love my eggs. I am back down to 228.4 today but since my highest was 241 I will take it and keep pushing onward. I am hoping to be a couple lbs lower by Thursday doctor appt. I left a message yesterday for them to please schedule the surgery. I am frustrated with the pain while walking. I have no pain sitting on my big butt. Still working on strengthening the legs.

Well I still gained 0.4 lbs this morning but since getting done with Mom's 90th birthday party (running around for 4 days )and having 2 root canals....and being around my family for a whole week...
( I never do good when bunking in with family & not having my own kitchen to cook or prepare meals )
So I actually only started my WOE on Wednesday. So I am pleased that I only gained 0.4 lbs! emoticon

I have no idea how to help you ladies that are struggling. Right now my mind is focused on losing once again. Today for lunch, I had a nice dish of Crack Slaw. It is my favorite low carb recipe. Some people call it egg roll in a bowl.

I am actually looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow morning to see how much (if any) I have lost this week!

Carol, what a victory! emoticon Up until 7 years ago I subscribed to a daily paper but when we moved, it was pricy, and I can get local news online. I do miss it, however.

My weight loss is holding steady, even after 3 day trip with RV and eating out. I am tracking everything on Spark tracker and varying eating between high and low ends of calorie range. I still have a ways to go to get back to maintenance but I can see the possibility now.

I'm slowly getting my mind back in the game. No cookies. Tessa, is your newly released arm skinnier, too? Mine was, and it looked so goofy.

I had a small victory today; my yoga friend and I went down to our newspaper's office and got our rates lowered. The paper is owned by a big corporation who doesn't care that we've been subscribers for 45 years. The sweet young lady at the desk (we went into the office as we hadn't had any luck with the corporate call center) has been getting all kinds of angry visitors and she managed to get our rate down to $38/month. Mine was supposed to have gone up to $80 something. We tried to be very nice. I want to go out to supper to celebrate.I'll be good.

Heather - I was just happy for you!

Tessa - glad you got the pink cast removed even though it was pretty.

I'm hanging in with my LC/HF eating. I refuse to stay under 20 NET CARBS so I shoot for under 50. Most days I am closer to 50 than 20 although some days I am under 20. Today I am at 12 so far. I am losing but not as fast as I have before. My body is so adapted to KETO that I just don't lose as fast anymore.

Sorry about my FEED saying I had lost 3 pounds. That is my fault because I forgot to record my weight for last Saturday on my Garmin Connect site.
If I forget to do that Sparks will revert me to my last weight before that...
( which was 3 lbs less than last Saturday ) EVEN if I record my weight on Sparks!!!

SO emoticon for confusing everyone..... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Carol: well done.. take it a day at a time-I chose not to eat a cookie today..It does get easier .

Plaster came off yesterday and as I expected I have very little movement in my wrist-I'm working on it! Was just checking my weight on the day I broke it (172), 6.5 weeks ago, to see my loss without plaster on, today I was 161.6. That seems OK to me.
Hoping to start driving bit at the weekend, that will make a big difference. Dr says I can swim but should leave running an cycling for a few weeks. Slightly concerned that I'm going to be swimming in circles with one arm stronger than the other! emoticon

We took a road trip up to the Shiner Brewery today. It was fun. We stopped at a nice restaurant that had a buffet. I made a nice salad, had some pork, a chicken breast and green beans. It wasn't completely low carb but so much better than if I took what I wanted! I really wanted a piece of the red velvet cake but I passed.

My weight is staying pretty much the same as Saturday's so far this week. A little lower or a little higher day by day.

Tessa, I know. My victory yesterday was not having even one cookie. I did have one serving of 78% dark chocolate, tho. emoticon

I'm bound and determined to have a loss this week, instead of going up one then down one ad nauseum. emoticon It's suppose to turn 50 today, so I'm going for a walk!

Moderation in everything sounds great but doesn't really work if you are addicted. No one says to an alcoholic, just have one drink it will be fine...

I'm taking my Mum for her new hearing aids on Monday-this is all covered by our national health service so costs us nothing though we do pay part of our dental costs.

Hoping to be rid of the pink this afternoon. So far healing has gone well (I'm told) so I will be rather disappointed if I have to wait. Then it'll be exercises to get the strength back. Hoping I'll be able to drive soon. Maybe my weight will be down a little in tomorrow (it went back up on Sunday so lasts weeks loss was small )
I continue to walk everywhere, yesterday covered about 7 miles, today probably 4. But I'm not doing much other exercise at the moment.

Hope you are all having a good week

Marianne, I read that too this a.m. I'm the moderation-in-all-things type.

Tessa, congrats on your weight loss. Do you have your cast off yet?

Sharon, what an attractive group you were for the outing! I love bleu cheese dressing, but not fake blue cheese dressing.

Heather, your Mom is so pretty emoticon I hope she has a good time at her birthday party.I'm proud of you that you're writing down some of these old memories. Wish I'd done it with my folks.

TC, have you tried CBD oil on your knees? It didn't help my hip or anxiety, but everybody's different.

Well I'm going to get a hearing aide. Apparently I have good bone conduction which helps my right ear. The aide will go in the left. It will be an all in ear one. How 'bout any of you? Re:teeth. I
have a couple of chips on my front 2 teeth. I thought I could get crowns, but my dentist says that as I age they won't match the other teeth to he doesn't want to do it. He suggested doing all teeth from canine to canine to the tune of $1400 each. I said I'd rather go to Europe. He agreed with me. Guess I'll have him continue the bonding. emoticon RE: dental implants. My father in law got them and then ruined them by grinding his teeth and refusing to wear a bite guard.

I am not that person any more.

Heather, your mother looks so good; how’s her long term memory? My mother couldn’t remember recent people and events but she told me some fascinating stories of her childhood and young adulthood. I took notes. emoticon

Sharon, glad the musical and dinner out were fun. I’ve been doing well until yesterday when family took us out for an early dinner. Ice cream and alcohol were such bad ideas — I didn’t sleep well. Back on track today!

I stumbled across this article this morning, and it reminded me that we know our bodies best, and have to figure out what type of eating works for us. I liked this quote:

“Whether you choose to lose weight by following a low-fat plan, a low-carb plan, or by eating all foods in moderation, the plan you choose is all about your individual preference and how your body responds. The ultimate success is not how much or how fast you take off the weight, but whether or not you are able to maintain the loss.”

Hate to say it, but add me to the gain pile. Between sore knees and walking a lot less, it is helping me gain. Tessa and Sharon, good job. Teeth are so expensive ! Yikes !

Marianne, good job on only 1 piece of pie. Carol, the sugar addiction is way too real for many of us.

Sharon, funny how the men are open to eating what we cook LCHF but not willing to give up the carbs at all. That is Mike & marissa and it bugs the hell out of me. They do not gain any weight and the food is much more costly to cook that way plus I hate cooking for them when they eat like that. Makes me feel like a house keeper/cook/nanny, etc.

I just read dirty lazy keto cookbook and I like it. I may try the keto that way for awhile. Brother Chris BG keeps dropping below 40 which makes me concerned for him so I am trying to educate him on what that does to his brain cells. He also exercises hard and does not drink enough fluids.

Heather - I get my act together and you lose it! What's up with that. I say we both need to work hard again. We are only hurting ourselves letting our weight go up and down. I must admit you are having emotional stress which probably adds to wanting to over eat, especially if it's available.

We went to the Irish Pub last night and about the only thing I felt comfortable ordering was a Chef Salad w/Blue Cheese dressing. I was very tasty and my weight was down a little more this morning.

Then we went to the musical which we all enjoyed. We couldn't take pictures of the musical itself but here's the group that went.

Sharon glad you've got back on track.
Heather I have much the same sort of conversations with my almost 93 yr old mother. Physically she's well enjoys her walks but can't remember anything.

I'm down a pound, it's only gone this morning, I've not been as strict as I should be this week.

Having a really bad time with my eating. Does not help that I am at my sister's in my hometown & preparing for Mom's 90th birthday at the Nursing Home on Sunday afternoon.
Was to see Mom today & literally had to * fight * to get her to try on a dressier outfit for Sunday.
* this one will do fine dear....I will just wear this*
She has had it on for at least 2 days....because I was here Thursday!

Poor Mom....she *looks* great for 90 ( her birthday is actually March the 3rd ) ....she eats well....sleeps well....gets around with her walker great....
BUT her head just cannot retain things at all....
When I got there today....there was a lovely bouquet of flowers...
The conversation went like this~~~
Me....oh what lovely...when did you get these?
Mom....I can't remember dear
Me....who are they from? ( as I looked to find the card )
Mom....I don't know dear
Me....where is the little card that was stuck in this plastic fork?
Mom....I never saw that dear....

Called the florist & found out they sent them to her this morning & they were from my friend Sheila who trained with me & who was always at my home with me. Mom knew her very well...like another daughter who moved in....

She could not recall Sheila at all even when I showed her our graduation from nursing photos.

Then I found the wee card that came with flowers stuck in the edge of her calendar frame on her wall.....
Not sure how she will handle the people coming to on Sunday to give her Birthday wishes....
Here she is today with her flowers....

Sharon....not sure I said on here but this Monday I have to continue from here to the next city to see a dentist specialist to have a root canal done.
The regular dentist at home cannot do it because the root is under my crown. Hate the dentist I have at home.....there always seems to be problems developing from any work he does.
I will check with this specialist on Monday but I am almost positive I have to have another root canal on a bottom crown!

If I were you....I would wait till you get a second opinion.....don't get your teeth pulled to soon...with only one opinion.....
That dentist is right enough about the expense of implants though. Alex asked our dentist about implants~~~~
For 5 implants it would cost him somewhere around $15,000 Canadian

Alex said....No Thank you! emoticon
