We have a holiday today in England. There should have been lots of parties to celebrate 75 yrs since victory in Europe...
It's a lovely day so I've cycled 8.5 miles with a very short jog after. Did a short detour to my Mums care home and managed to talk to her through the garden fence!

my hubby doesn't really need to lose weight and he gets plenty of exercise around the yard in the warmer months. I wish he'd just eat healthier. Last night it was canned tamales and canned refried beans. A, I hate canned tamales, and B, refried beans really do a number on me. I picked. We alternate cooking days. Tonight I'm going to make oven fried chicken, oven fries, and veggies.

I think my challenge to myself this time will be to pick a plan and stick with it, whatever it is.

So far Mike, Alex and Norm are going to join us.

Marianne - I know Pete struggles with his weight so perhaps if he knows he is not the only man, he might join us as well.

I realize most of our men are lucky and don't struggle like we do but men are human as well and this stay at home is difficult for all of us to stay busy and not snack!

Thank you Sharon, I'll be glad to have more focus, I've got a bit stuck over April (Easter & lack of getting away). Hope to see progress through the challenge. My DH doesn't need to join in, he's a sensible eater!
ST done for today
Was pleased to get out on my bike yesterday for the first time since breaking my wrist in January. Just a gentle 5 miles to take something to my Mum's care home. Now I can start to build up the mileage. It also means we can cycle a short way and take a walk to add variety (we're encouraged to walk from home and not use the car unless it's essential travel at the moment which means my car moves once a week for a food shop!)

ALEX says he will join in as long as I do his stats and he does not have to join Sparks.

What about Norm? Will he join in like Alex? Sharon? And Mike too? Brenda?

I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I see some of our men could use some accountability as well. I am thinking if your DH would like to join us in this challenge, he would be welcome!

Perhaps Alex and Mike could lead some others?

I just sent out invitations for a new challenge. I am posting it here in the hope that I don't miss anyone. If you know someone who would like to join, feel free to forward our invite to them as well.

SASSY BABYSTEPS BACK TO NORMAL

About this Challenge:
We have had 2 months of life challenges that have disrupted our lives. Let's start baby steps toward healthy routines.

Another Challenge is long overdue. I am back home and ready to do the work required with another challenge! It is more a commitment to get back to working on weight loss with a little Mini Challenge each week.
WIís will be Saturday mornings (canít teach old dogs new tricks!) This coming Saturday we will record our beginning weights. The Challenge will run 8 weeks and end on the 4th of July. I am confident our stay at home shelter will be a thing of the past by then!
As always, if you want to join our group and get back to losing, send me a Spark Mail throwing your hat in the ring! Hope to see your Spark Mail this week!

I will set up new threads by the end of the week. Baby steps, lol.

Sadly both Alex and myself have fallen off the wagon BIG TIME! emoticon emoticon
Alex has put on 25 pounds from his lowest weight & I have put on 30 lbs from my lowest.

I was checking back on all my weigh-ins and on May 4th/ 2019 ....A year ago! I was at my lowest weight! So this 30 lbs been added over a year's time. However, from my lowest weight last May....I have went up....then back down....then back up...etc....
This up/down continued till 5 weeks ago....over the past 5 weeks it has been emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

SO.....we are BOTH back again...in 2 days I have lost 1.6 lbs and Alex 2 lbs. SO we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will keep t up! Neither one of us wants to get back into the 200 mark!

Down 1.5 lbs, a start. Since weíve been at home virtually all the time, Iím doing lots more cooking than usual, which translates into more eating! Most of the food is healthy but I sure need to dial back on portion sizes. emoticon

TC, thanks for the info. I looked it up ó may try a recipe or two for Pete since heís back to not paying attention.

Marianne, xanthan gum is a thickener keto friendly.

Carol, nice job getting in the exercise even if you did forget the tracker. Obviously you are doing something right ! Your A1C is improving.

Sharon, nice ! Only a 4 lb gain over the whole winter with stress of corona, great meals from DD is a win !be proud. You are back on track but had a great winter. Life is so short. Be happy.

OK - here's my reckoning from over the winter. You know I keep a written record of my WI's. When I got home, my weight was up 4 lbs from when we left back in October. I have been making an effort to eat better since we got home on Monday and I am down 1 lb for the week! It's a start!!

TC, the egg wraps sound good, Iíll have to look up xanthan gum. I canít find yeast so am thinking about making tortillas.

Heather, I like the stew recipe and Pete likes the gravy I make, but I havenít used tomato sauce or paste in it ó may give it a try. He always compliments my meals, probably because heís afraid heíll have to cook. emoticon

Sharon, hope it will be easier to be consistent now that youíre home. Wish I could find my consistency mojo....

Carol, congrats on the gardening exercise. The new Biggest Loser Challenge started on Spark yesterday and my weight is up a few pounds in the last month. No one to blame but myself. emoticon

Iíve resumed tracking food in the last few days, staying in calorie range, and I hope that will be reflected in my next weigh-in.

I don't appear to be losing weight; I'm going by how my clothes fit and don't dare look at the numbers. Yesterday I did my yoga via Zoom, and then hauled plant pots and mixed planting soil, planted some herb seed discs left over from last year and got my grow light stuff out for starting my little cabbages and cukes. Beautiful day yesterday and I worked up a sweat. With all the up and down stairs stuff (deck to garage to yard) and the fact that we have 1.75 acres, I counted all this as exercise. Of course I forgot my FitBit.

Good morning team !

More rain for casted for today here. Makes me want to bake... LOL !! I may have mentioned it before but I love the egg life egg wraps. They are only egg white and xanthan gum so should be easy to make but not having any luck so far. I can not figure out if they are whipped first then cooked or let the gum sit and soak in ?? I am guessing 2 whites to make 1 wrap. Mine are turning out all egg texture and taste where the store bought ones are light like a tortilla or wet paper towel LOL as 1 person described it. I love em.

Nothing planned today. I have a huge list of to - do things but not emergent.

wt 228.7 today. Heather.... YUM !!

Well, i have said it before.... I think we are all doing amazing just being here, supporting one another and continuing to focus on healthy habits !!! So what if we slip, or over indulge once in awhile. We get back to those things that help us feel better. I know, for me, i would still be 300 plus lbs if i did not have you gals. That being said, emoticon emoticon emoticon !!!

Hi ladies...I am still around just don't get to post much but Heather told me she posted some pics that I shared on facebook and Thank you for that Heather. I don't have many before pics of me because I hated seeing what I looked like; and now I actually wish I had more so I can see the progress. Its funny because when I posted them a few people had said they had never seen me over weight and that I looked the same; and that is probably true for those people because I had really only gained the weight 10 years ago when I moved back to WI from CO and I did not want to be back; but I came because my mother was getting ill and needed more assistance. Nonetheless, I ate and drank excessively. It feels so good to be back in my own skin again and I thank you all for always inviting me to the challenges because it certainly helped keep me on track. I still have about 10 pounds to go but I don't need to be in a rush; I'm finding out doing it slower is actually better.

I am still hoping that even if I don't get my own rig that when you have another get together next year that I can at least rent a rig and meet all of you.

Thank you all for the compliments; it truly means a lot to me. Stay healthy and safe.

Never let Yesterday or Tomorrow take up Today!

I have been a member since March 28, 2006. I am so embarrassed that I am still not at goal that I ignored mentioning my Sparkversary. Over the years my weight has went up and down, but I tell myself without my Spark Friends and the challenges, I would weigh a whole lot more than I do now.

Today is our last day here at Casey's. I have really enjoyed Zona's cooking and ate whatever she put in front of me. However, I am anxious to get back to my healthier eating! I just am fortunate that I have stayed with a 1-2 lb range on her WW scale. I can't wait to get home and weigh on my Physician's scale. It is so much more accurate.

I'm up .6 this morning. I had a cake binge yesterday and a not great week eating wise but glad to be staying below 160 however I'd like to be moving down properly now Easter is over!
I did go for a brisk walk yesterday evening (5.25 miles) to try to balance things out!

got my yoga in, this time with no cat. Opened my windows and cranked up the ceiling fan. Plan to spend a lot of time outdoors today. Might move the deck furniture up?

TC, I have some masks ordered, just the street wear ones, but they're probably imported from China and by the time they get here maybe I won't need them anymore. Thanks for the tip about the pipe cleaner; I'm thinking I might be able to use some fabric glue with my bandana folds and stick the pipe cleaner in there.

Happy and healthy day to everyone!

Well ladies, i have been here since dec 2007 and have never been at goal. Lowest was 177. Today is 228.6 and 230.7 last week so at least going right direction.

Sharon, zona's cheesecake can be low carb just skipping bread but you are enjoying yourself so please continue. You are doing something right since you are basically maintaining.

Carol, i am so happy for you and your labwork. Nicely done GF !! Sorry your mask is loose. Some people are making a tunnel at top and putting a pipe cleaner thru it to make nose side tighter. Congrats on those fitness minutes also. That really shows you how hard you have been working despite not making goal yet. Be very proud ! I agree with Marianne. I know my health would be much worse if i was not checking in daily.

Tessa, Happy birthday to mum Sunday. I will be working. I am afraid to use my xylitol because it is toxic to my fur babies and i am a sloppy baker. Are you flavoring the cake ?

Heather, thanks for sharing the picture of Kat. She is very inspiring.

Tessa, wishing your mother a happy birthday, and glad you can make her a treat, even if you canít visit. emoticon

Carol, my story is similar to Tessaís. I joined Spark in 2011 and made goal a year later. Since then Iíve gone up and down, but still 15 pounds from where I should be. It is frustrating ó I tell myself to just imagine what my weight and health would look like if I wasnít still here. emoticon

Sharon, I checked out Zonaís Philly cheesesteak recipe because Pete loves them. I can put it on next weekís menu ó beef for him and chicken for me, lol. Beautiful picture.

Carol, I think I've been here since 2009, got to about goal very briefly, had times when I've been nearish for a while. At least 20 pounds off at the moment but I've been worse!

Yesterday I did a short jog (2 miles) and some ST, today a 3 mile walk.

I've made some little cakes for my mum-sugar free (used xylitol) and almond flour as she's diabetic. It's her birthday on Sunday, 93 years old, and I can't visit. We've also been told this week that there are cases of the virus in the home but not her area.

Yikes!!! emoticon

I got a fitness minutes trophy today and went back to see my other trophies and discovered I first joined SP in February of 2011???????????????? And I'm STILL not at goal!!!???? Good grief, girl. Somebody please kick me.

It was such a nice day yesterday, for a change the wind wasn't blowing 40 mph, that I went for an hour walk after yoga. I didn't push as I just wanted to enjoy being outside, so I didn't make that many steps, but it felt great. Afterwards, I finished a book on my deck. Ah....

I think today I'll do more sorting and throwing; right now I'm enjoying my time in my new bathrobe. More ah...

I am here to tell you the Philly Cheese steak sandwiches were so good! They were so big we didn't need anything with them. My weight was up .5 lb this morning but I have been fluctuating so I am not too worried.

Carol - Your A1C sounds really good. I would hope mine is that good. I struggle with my Cholesterol all the time. I have know idea about creatinine but I am going back to my last lab works and see where I stand with that.

Terrific pic of Kat! Inspiring!

I had my 6 month labs this week and my A1C is 5.8. Cholesterol is fine, creatinine is the only 'off ' level. I have an appointment with a nephrologist next Thursday via an e-visit. Having never done one, I'm not sure how it works, although the youngster setting up the appt made it sound straight forward. I must be doing something right, though not losing weight like I'd like to.

Still doing yoga via Zoom. When we get to final relaxation, my cat lies on my arm and purrs. That's relaxing!

I'm hoping my non-medical masks come today. I don't have a sewing machine, and my fold-it-yourself bandana mask doesn't stay on my face very well.

Hope you all are well.

I sure do remember Kat. She was one of our biggest losers whenever she joined our challenges. I am happy for her and knows she deserves it as she was working so hard.

Zona and Casey have been trying hard to keep us happy. She has added more veggies to our meals and today for lunch we had a nice grilled chicken salad. Tonight we are having the Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches so that is definitely not low carb!

Wow that's brilliant.

I'm eating better (after my Easter slip!) and moving. Sunday I did some ST then 4.5 mile brisk walk. Yesterday we walked 8.25 miles. Getting out (it sunny here too) is good for me!
Don't feel I'm getting much done but doing what I need to.

Sharon, sounds like my house. I have 16 stairs i go up n down several times daily. I feel your pain but in my hips and knees now. The IT band is still cramping a lot.

Brenda, i feel ya too. I am sick of cooking, especially since i am low carb, no sugars. I HAVE to cook. No way around it. At least i am only cooking for myself right now. I may start cooking for them again but it is going to be awhile for sure !! They are not grateful so do without for a bit and get the head back on straight. Especially the kid. Mike has always been pretty good about eating my food even if not a favorite but the kid acts entitled. Not my kid so find another mommy or daddy.

I am back up .7 today. Caved and ate SF ice cream with a SF brownie so over calories is what i suspect. Hip was cramping up so less walking since that was tightening instead of relaxing it. Still got over 5k in though. Onward, ho !

Heather - I don't eat a breakfast and I can control my lunch portions. Also, I stay up in our suite so no between meal snacks. That must be what saves me. That and the stairs, OMG! The flight up to our suite is 17 steps and I am up and down them about 10 times a day. Norm and I both commented that it was hopefully strengthening our hips. We aren't having any problems now but it may prove difficult in future visits so we are just enjoying our time together now.

Well....again! No surprises here this morning....UP 1.6 lbs emoticon

TC....nice loss today. Sorry Mike knocked out the stone from your firepit. Knowing you....I know you will figure out a solution. emoticon

Sharon..... emoticon on HOLDINGYOUROWN! ( wanna change names with me? ) Wish I knew your secret though....I was checking the recipes Zona is making for your dinner & your desserts.....
AND....her meals with dessert are costing you anywhere from 1500 to 2000 calories for that one meal.....plus whatever else you eat that day! emoticon
I am eating in the same range ( per day ) but just keep putting the weight on.....plus I have been up / down ladders.....doing squats....doing stretching exercises....with my house cleaning....and still I keep gaining! emoticon

Tessa....keep up the great work! emoticon

Brenda..... emoticon you guys broke down once? We are breaking down often!

Marianne....I love my fruits & veggies. And I hate when things go bad & I have to throw them out. Glad to see you are saving a lot by cooking & freezing! emoticon

I hate to admit it, but, my stress is a bit down now that i am not cooking for kid n mike. I am at 230.4 today. down 1.3 i think. I told mike to fend for themselves because they eat frozen meals instead of my left overs. Mike managed to knock a GLUED stone out of my firepit. Peeved. Would not be if it was just an accident but was more carelessness. Of course it is a bottom brick. Can not think how to repair it as they are all glued and this this the corner going downhill.

My weight is down from last Saturday but I'm not taking it as me losing! My weight is going up and down while staying here with Zona's cooking. I have no idea why it's down this morning as Zona made her Baked Mac & Cheese for dinner yesterday. When I entered it in my tracker, the mac & cheese alone had 1353 calories!! We all added ham and broccoli to it. So, needless to say, my calories were high yesterday!
