Good afternoon team !

Loving all the pics. If it wasn't such a pain to post, I would post more of them myself. Tammy excellent advice to Heather about tracking your "treat" first for day. I often do the same. Weight down this am and am hoping it stays that way for WI.

Weezie, Congrats being biggest loser this past week. I believe Heather and Sharon are fighting for first, right ? LOL !! You go girls. I am just happy if I lose some and keep it off. So tired of being in the 190's yet. Lowest was 186, I think so that is first goal, just to get back there and keep it.

All for now. Need to get my tail moving. TC

Heather - your cauliflower rice looks yummy! I'm definitely going to try it.

I can't believe it's Hump Day already! The weeks are flying by so fast. This week has been the best weather since we arrived. Breezy for sure, but not windy. Today will be mid 80's, getting warmer!

I'm going up to the clubhouse this morning to check out the Craft Sale they have once a month. Last month Norm bought his shoes and new LED lights for the bathroom. We love the add'l light so this month we are going to buy new ones for the bedroom.l

Heather, back in my early Spark days I thought I had to have something chocolate at night, so the first thing I did with tracking is write that in first! I made a bit different choices thru the day then.

Mary, I am glad for February! Closer to spring!

Our menu changed yesterday evening, so I have yet to make the cauliflower but I WILL do it!

Good Morning all!

Love all the pics.....

New month! Can you believe it?

I took the average of my steps and miles for the month....just over 10000/day and 4 miles/day. I was trying for 2017 miles for the year...for the year...and that is not going to happen. So...just going to try to improve each month.

Heather...your snack at night...can you change it? have a fruit with a sprinkle of granola? Or...a few spoons of yogurt with the granola? Just an idea.

Wishing all a grand day!

Hi everyone. Having fun purging a few things. I take it a bit at a time. I've got a lot to do and want to make things work out and not burn out.

SEK, love your photos of food. I like the ideas. Looks delicious.

Gotta get some things done. Not done with my purging for the day.

Afternoon~~
I went to our line dancing today then hovered/washed/and waxed the hardwood floors so got lots of exercise!! BUT I too need to keep my mouth shut~~but not between meals like you Sharon...@night before heading to bed for me!!~~
JUST cannot seem to get rid of the feeling of needing that midnight snack~~!! Even if I had ALL my 1200 calories for the day!~
My snack choice is not usually that bad...mostly 3/4 cup of granola cereal with 1/2 cup of 1% milk....BUT since I had my calorie quota for the day.....THIS still puts me over every day!

It is a habit I cannot seem to break!!~~ Any ideas??

Here is what I've had for breakfast and dinner the last couple days.

If you look closely you can see cauliflower in the salad.

I think y'all are doing well and keep it up, it just happens quicker for some.

Hi everyone. Took yesterday off from the Internet. Way too much drama going on with family and needed to be "present."

Congrats Weezie2. You really do well with the challenges. I admire you.

I love your food ideas. I have a hard time getting too many things to eat. It's a challenge when it is just me. I hate to waste food and cooking "big" meals is not as much fun

I've got Miss McGullicudy com few minutes. We are going to clean wooden puzzles today. I've got a bunch from when I volunteered at the church nursery years ago. I'd kept them out for my own kids but now need to share them with the grands. Or with someone.

Have a great day.

HI, I have internet for only 2 more days and then off again to Yuma with Lorraine. We picked her up from the airport last night. I didn't know it was her. She has put on weight also and her hair was longer. Terry saw her before I did. I introduced Terry as Gary and she said, "yeah right". Well, it broke the ice. Ha ha.
It is great to have her here. She opened her suit case and there was hardly anything in it. It cracked me up when Terry said you don't have many clothes. He doesn't know Lorraine. We will be shopping until we both drop. It should be fun!.
I have been using my phone to let Sharon know my weight It seems to be working. I took the internet out of my home. No sense paying for something I don't use.

I was impressed with my Fitbit to track all of my steps onto my start page. That little thing is amazing for sure.

Sharon: I am impressed that you remember my potato/Cauliflower salad. It was yummy.

Ok, the dogs are barking and that ought to get everyone up. Maybe. I need to catch up on some stuff on line anyway.

Working on a better week. Yeah. Went out of Chinese food last night. Tonight karaoke with my Cousin and Lorraine and friends. Oh yeah Terry too. (;-)

It helps me that I love cauliflower in any way, shape or form. I like the faux mashed potatoes but I'm not sure it would taste the same with cream cheese, Heather. Ruthann tells me her favorite way is to make potato salad using cauliflower instead of potatoes. She made it for one of our dinners together and it was good!

I got almost 10,000 steps yesterday. First time in a long time but I'm paying for it today. I am back in my knee brace which I haven't used in over a year. Perhaps the added weight is to blame?

Off to our weekly meeting, check back on you girls later!

Good morning everyone!!!! it's 48 and we're on our way to Bagel King.

When we get back to Oviedo we have to stop in at Quest and get our blood taken (me for my cancer Dr. and Jerry for his

I asked this Dr. why I had to see her twice a year at her office to just wait for a long time, after they take my blood and then see her and she asks how I am and that's it. She said if I swore I would get this blood test done in 6 months then I only had to come once a year. So I am sure to do that.

When I take Benadryl it pins me to the bed

Hi, friends!

Will be packing a lunch here in a bit. I have usually been up for an hour already but I guess the Benadryl kept me sleeping longer. The longer isn't necessarily a bad thing when it happens, though.

Looks like we are not doing too bad.

I love cauliflower but not made into mashed potatoes. I eat it all the time, mostly raw, because that is the way I get the family to eat it, they don't touch it cooked. I like to mix it with broccoli and carrots with a few red peppers and steam it all to that still crunchy but not real crunchy state.

Y'all take care it's off to work I go.

Made my cauliflower Faux Mashed tonight~~ did not have sour cream so used a tablespoon of FF cream cheese and spiced it with some garlic powder/salt/pepper/ and milk....added a tablespoon of bacon bits.... ( I steamed my cauliflower )

But even though I ate some with my chicken/kabocha squash/and cabbage....It did not sit quite right with me and my palate~~

I DO love cauliflower but will stick to just steamed florets next time....BUT think I will also try it for chicken fried rice...as I do love soya sauce....

Good job everyone ! We are staying focused even if not losing every week. I am loving the recipes. BTW mom, there is a frozen version already made which Walmart sells and is good but costs $5 if you try it. Hanover has a mashed cauliflower at Walmart also that is cheaper but you would have to add the other stuff.

Pat, too bad for your GD but at least she can plan something else now.

Eileen, do you not like cauliflower ?

WG, sorry to hear of your dental pain.

Had the cauliflower for dinner and roasted it. Only way Thomas will eat it. It was very good but I love cauliflower any way it is fixed. My DD loves it riced. You can now buy it riced in the freezer section.

Have you tried the turkey pepperoni yet Sharon? It is really good. I just bought Boar's Head brand and it is even better--less salty.

I made the cauliflower for supper. We are just about to eat. I tasted it and it is great but it is much easier and less messy to just roast it.

Congrats Weezie2. That is a quite a loss. Keep up the great work. Also good job on all the other losses.
I'm sorry I'm not really participating in the recipe part, but I really don't cook much myself any more. With me working in the evening Robby pretty much does most of the cooking. The recipes have all been good choices and the cauliflower I have thought of trying many times. I love cauliflower in just about any form so I'm sure I will try it at some point.
Thank you Sharon for all your thought and hard work that goes into the challenges

Peggy - thanks for your kind words!

We spent the morning at the Ochoa Flea Market. This was a real Mexican market. It is outdoors and very busy. Norm will go back as they had cowboy boots for $39 and he wants a pair before we go home.

I made a quick dinner when we returned home. Along with a pork steak which Norm and I split, I made our favorite side dish of cauliflower. I cook frozen cauliflower in the microwave until good and tender, then I chop it small and add butter, salt and pepper. Then I sprinkle 1/4 c shredded cheese on top and 1/2 serving of pepperoni. Microwave it until the cheese is melted and yum!

We have lost a total of 69.7 lbs. Great job!

Sorry for no pictures this morning! I'm posting from my phone. We'll be out most of the day and I wanted to get the totals out this morning.

Have a great week and try cauliflower in some way, shape or form!

Good morning!! It's 48 here and we are getting ready to go to Chruch.

I never know what to wear to Church when it is this temperature so I decided to wear my cape. I like that in Church because it is nice and soft and feels like I am wrapped up in a blanket.

Nothing much today but more of the same. Still working on clearing out papers.

Darn - weight was much better this morning and I wouldn't have needed to report a gain - oh, well - I don't have to "worry" about having a challenge of losses of every week! LOL

I've had a week of "green dots" except for yesterday which I shall use a "yellow dot" for some just-a-bit-over on some things - not really because of my gain though. I think sometimes it is just best for me to do that - I DID carefully analyze it before I did it. LOL

Have a good day!

My weight is yo-yoing again which is what I do when on a plateau. This week another gain, last week a loss.

We were at a wedding a couple yrs. ago and had a dinner of fish, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Don't recall the rest but as I was eating the mashed potatoes, they tasted so funny (not in a good way) so only ate half of them. Found out later it was mashed cauliflower. If I get to the store I may buy one and see if I can eat it again. Have doubts as I can remember the taste but~~~ Needing lots of groceries but have a lot of back pain right now so not easy to walk or move. Thus a reason for the gain, I am betting.

Hi all. Had some dental work done so I'm down a bit. It's good as I've been eating a bit more generously than I have in the past. Today has not been good. Lots of EE which is miserable. Hoping to have some peace tomorrow for at least an hour.

Have a great day everyone.

emoticon yet again this week....but I knew I would be. Too much eating out and as they say "you can't out exercise a bad diet". Next week will be different. Only one game.

Went to older granddaughter's last basketball game. Very emotional. Basically the head coach of the basketball teams told her that she would not make the varsity team next year. So she doesn't even need to try out. She cried but I really think she is over it just doesn't want to admit it.

I'm going to really work next week to lose some of this weight.

A small loss of 1.6# this week but better than the last 2 weeks. I have had the very tasty cauliflower mashed potatoes that TC makes but won't be making them since I live alone & rarely cook anything that takes any effort.

My weight was up and down all week but this morning I weighed exactly what I did last WI so that's a Turtle as we used to say in TOPS.

I need to work harder and I did the last couple of days which is the only thing that saved me from a gain.

Looks to be a better week for us so far. Keep those WI's coming!

Up a pound - not surprised since we ate at a German restaurant last night. I will definitely make the cauliflower recipe but Pete won't eat it, LOL. I think I'll get a small cauliflower.

Made my step goal the last three days and exercised in excess of 30 minutes each day.

Yeah I am finally below the weight I started. I've been inching up .2 at a time or staying the same and now I am down 1.6

I'll pick up the cauliflower tomorrow to try the recipe.

Have a great week end

I shall be happy to try the mashed cauliflower and it won't be a great effort on my part - it has been awhile since we have had cauliflower. I was preparing it fairly often last year when SD was doing low carb and needed a break after, but now I haven't had it for a while, so YAY! I still have the riced cauliflower in the freezer that I need to prepare, but I will definitely do SS's recipe. I am looking forward this morning to some steel cut oatmeal with pumpkin as per last week's recipe.

The scales were up this morning - emoticon - not entirely sure what is up with that, but maybe it is a good thing my perfect few weeks of losing were disrupted, just to keep me watching, eh? emoticon I have several "green dot" days in a row...like I said, I am not entirely sure what is up. Oh, well, onward and DOWNWARD.

Have a good day!

Well, I'm not looking forward to WI tomorrow....just too much eating out. Next week we only have 1 game!!! So that will help.

Heather, I live in southern Indiana only 25 miles from the Ohio River. So we don't usually get a ton of snow. I for one am glad of that!!

Peggy, glad that you can stay in bed until 7 but I'd be so sore with all this arthritis! I know that I should sleep more but just can't do it.

Everyone seems to be doing good. Hope that we all have great WIs.....

WEEK FIVE RECIPE Jan 28th

Lately everywhere you turn you hear about using cauliflower instead of potatoes. Cauliflower is extremely popular with low carbers but more and more people are finding out just how good cauliflower is. I will give you the basic recipe for #1 use

FAUX MASHED POTATOES

For 4 servings: 91 calories, 4g fat, 5g protein, and 5g net carbs.
The Preparation
1 head of cauliflower
3 tbsp milk
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp sour cream
tsp garlic salt
1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
Optional
Chives
Cheese
Bacon bits

The Execution
1. Bring 1 cup water to simmer over medium heat
2. Separate cauliflower into florets save the cores
3. Dice cauliflower cores and add all the cauliflower to the pot, covering it.
4. Cook 12-15 minutes until cauliflower is very tender.
5. Drain all water and add milk, butter, sour cream, salt, and pepper.
6. Grab your masher and mash.
7. Add optional toppings, serve, and enjoy.

There are so many ways to use cauliflower such as cauliflower rice in Asian dishes, no carb pizza crust, or cauliflower stackers just to name a few.

If you haven't tried the faux potatoes yet, try them and let us know what you think. If you have a favorite way to use cauliflower, you may feel free to make it and share with us with picture and recipe.

Mary, congrats on being down 2#. Will you share your greek shrimp salad recipe ?

Pat, I do not envy your new swimming pool back yard. Wow, that is a lot of water.

Tammy, congrats on being soda free 13 months. I am going to try and check out your air fryer. It sounds interesting.

Heather, please keep your snow.... LOL. Stinks to lose power. Always makes me glad I have books in the house.

Peggy, you are so organized. WTG ! I hope the nerve test came out well.

Sharon, how did the awning turn out ?

My newest obsession is pumpkin seeds. 1 carb per serving and so good. Exercise done. Still looking for my oatmeal recipe. Sorry Sharon. Good luck at WI tomorrow. TC

Hi everyone. I've got construction guys here again. SS, the guy who walked in was one of the construction guys. I was standing by the door so it bothered me a bit. They are nice people and don't really bother me.

The construction is coming along. The room is nearly framed and the room is ready for the next phase. I'm excited to have more space for the grands and for me.

SS, glad that you are able to be home for the awning guy. Hope it works out well for you now.

Peggy, hope you can find a way to find comfort for your hands/wrists. It will be nice to have them work as they should.

SEK, have a good trip. I hope you have a good book to read.

Love this talk about diet sodas. I gave them up years ago then started when I was getting tired at work. Have soda all the time around the house, but rarely drink it. Caffeinated sodas give me a stomach ache if I drink too much. An occasional drink with dinner out or at a drive through, but not most of the time. I don't crave it, though. I'm lucky, I guess.

Now if you talk about chocolate....

Have a good weigh in tomorrow.
