It sounds like everyone has a plan of action for Thurs.

Sharon, I was so thrilled not to have any leftovers. I left what was left of the pie I took there for the kids to eat. Robby and I each had a piece, so we were good.

Mary, the article was very good and so spot on. I rarely overeat on Thanksgiving, especially back when I cooked it. After all the cooking, I didn't feel like eating.

Jude, great idea on the sweet potatoes. I'm one of those who like them plain. I don't like all the sweet stuff added to them. I like a baked sweet potato with a little butter.

We are having Posole for Thanksgiving day. Robby said he'd rather have it than a turkey breast, which is what I was going to get, so tonight after work I'll stop by the store and pick up the fixin's. I also need to get the stuff for chili. I'll put it on tonight and that's what tomorrow will be for dinner. I may use turkey for my chili. I haven't decided yet.
I hope you are all warm and dry. It is cold and raining here. I'm inside, so it doesn't have much effect on me, but everyone else is miserable.

Have a good night all.

Mary.... I don't think that the dinner itself is so bad, it's the portion sizes you eat and the snacking all evening long and then the left-overs all the next week. It's a little heavy on the carb side. Sure tastes good though. Add the dinner to all the season's social gatherings over a month long period and it is so easy to overdo.

Marianne.....hope I don't gain too. We have family folks that like sweet potatoes plain and some like the candied, so I bake them the day before and do a "twice baked" kinda thing....some candied some not, then spoon them back in the shells and the next day just put the marshmallows on the ones that want them. Keeps from having a whole dish the next day that is hard to heat up. Just pop one in the oven with fresh marshmallows.

Mary - Thanks for the article! I'm not intending for Thanksgiving Dinner to ruin my weight this year. It's not usually the dinner that is my downfall but the snacking afterward and leftovers. I won't have either this year as our dinner is in the Ballroom and there won't be any leftovers or snacking!

Thanks for the article, Mary. My goal this week is not to gain over Thanksgiving emoticon

I'm making a recipe similar to the one Jude posted for cranberry relish, using Splenda. The longer it sits, the better it tastes. My DSIL asked me to bring candied yams to dinner - he's doing the turkey. Of the 6 of us, he and I are the only ones who will eat them! I think I'm going to make a smaller recipe with the marshmallow topping for him and just have a very small serving myself. I'll leave the version with pecans and fresh cranberries at home for me.

Is Thanksgiving Dinner Really That Bad?

By Klint Newton

Everyone knows that Thanksgiving is the worst eating day for everyone in the US. Anyone that is on a "Diet" is either going to blow it or will have to use every ounce of unnatural will power to not give in to the Holiday's tradition of stuffing your face until you can't move. Even more specifically for us Texans, stuffing your face until you can't move and waddling into your relative host's living room to watch the Cowboys.

So, Thanksgiving stands accused as the least healthy holiday. Like your mother used to say, "Don't hang out with the wrong crowd." Thanksgiving, as far as its effect on health, is just another day in November, it's just guilty by association. More specifically, its association with food, lots of food! Well, this is a free country, we are free to do, or eat what we want, and we are innocent until proven guilty. So let's give Thanksgiving a fair trial and see what our final verdict is.

First up, I'd like to call to the stand, Turkey, the main character in the Thanksgiving feast.

5 ounces of Turkey (White Meat): Total Fat: 11.8g Saturated Fat: 3.3 Trans Fat: 0 Cholesterol: 107.7 mg Sodium: 89.3 mg Carbs: 0 Protein: 40.5g

It seems like turkey does have a little bit of fat, but it's a healthy unsaturated fat, not saturated or trans fats. It has small amounts of cholesterol, sodium and no carbs. There are tons of proteins, and proteins from turkey are especially good because it is a complete protein with all necessary amino acids. Well, it looks like turkey is not only not bad for you, but actually good for you. The outcome, Turkey is innocent.

Next Up, Sweet Potatoes.

Sweet Potatoes, Dark Orange, Fresh, 5" long, Total Fat: .1g Cholesterol: 0mg Sodium: 71.5mg Carbs: 26.2g Protein: 2g

Hmm, it appears that sweet potatoes are essentially fat free, and cholesterol free. The sodium content is negligible, and so is the protein content. It does have 26.2g of GOOD carbs. Good carbs you ask? Yes, the carbohydrates found in sweet potatoes are complex carbs, meaning they digest slowly, providing your body with energy, not your "spare tire" with more "air." No fat, nothing else unhealthy, healthy source of essential carbs: The Verdict: Sweet Potatoes are innocent!

Now let's look at canned, sweetened cranberry sauce.

Cranberry Sauce, Sweetened and Canned, 3 slices: Total Fat: .3g Cholesterol: 0mg Sodium: 49.6mg Carbs: 66.5g Sugars- 64.5.g Protein: .3g

Well, it appears that cranberry sauce is fat free, please remember that the FDA lets food be labeled as fat free, preservative free, or trans fat free as long as there is less than .5g of the substance per serving. Please don't think that everything is actually fat free. Just think of it as .49g of fat per serving. Canned cranberry suace has no cholesterol and a very low sodium level. It does have 66.5g of carbs, 64.5g of those are sugar. Think of those 65g being pasted right to your belly, that's not a pretty sight. It looks like canned cranberry sauce is guilty!

Now for the stuffing:

Stuffing, bread, prep/dry mix 1/2cup Total Fat: 8.6g Saturated Fat: 1.7g Cholesterol: 0mg Sodium: 543mg Carbs: 21.7g Sugars: 2.1g Protein: 3.2g

Stuffing does have a little bit of fat, but it's not bad fat. It is low in sodium, but also low in protein. There is a ton of sodium, but actually less than most canned or boxed goods, so it's not that bad compared to most American diets. There are a fair amont of carbs, but they are from the white bread and not sugar. It would appear that stuffing is innocent!

I've seen all I need. We have learned that turkey is actually healthy, canned cranberries are loaded with sugar, sweet potatoes are great, and stuffing isn't healthy, but isn't that bad either.

Is Thanksgiving guilty? No, it's innocent. Turkey, sweet potatoes, and stuffing might actually be our healthiest meal of the year with small healthy portions.

So if Thanksgiving dinner is basically a healthy meal, who is guilty?

No matter what you eat, whether it's turkey or a hamburger, if you eat too much you will gain weight. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

So what's the big deal? Thanksgiving has only gotten it's bad image because we overeat, and not only on the healthy stuff. We fill ourselves full of dinner and dessert. I know I don't have to tell you how bad dessert can be, so I'm not going to. Just take it easy.

So get off of Thanksgiving's case, its not guilty, we are. This year, instead of getting so stuffed we have to be rolled away from the table, how about we take responsibility for ourselves and know when to call it quits, and actually do it. This year, instead of complaining how miserable we are from overeating, let's give thanks to the lord that we actually have more than enough to eat and have our needs provided for.

Happy Thanksgiving -

Well, we're back home from our preThanksgiving, Thanksgiving with Robby's family. We had a very nice time. Had an enjoyable stay at the casino. Very nice place. It is a new casino, so was nice and clean. Very nice rooms and food. Drove home a scenic route today, it has been cold and rainy all day. Still raining and cold out right now too.

Congratulations to us all in this challenge. We all did a great job.

TC, congratulations on your great loss. Keep it going.

I'm not going to try all the rest, since I haven't posted in a couple of days.

Sharon, thank you so much buddy. I'm thrilled we both had an overall loss for the 6week challenge. Let's keep our mind in the right place through the holidays.

I think as a whole we had a successful challenge. I know some didn't lose as much as they wanted but I think this challenge has made us all more aware why we do some of the things we do.

Heather - We both did our best I'm sure.

Woo Hoo ! Wow ! I did not realize just how great we all did. I knew it was good.... but we really did GREAT !! I really learned from the week we were kind to ourselves and doing the little but positive things to build ourselves up and I plan to keep on doing that. Thank you all for the congrats on my losses. I really would have quit if you had not been so supportive. I really love this team.

Ruthann, Will doc let Larry use a gel pack or ice on his eye for 20 minutes at a time every couple of hrs ? That may reduce swelling.

I am really not looking forward to winter weather of ice & snow since I feel better being outside and I am too heavy for my treadmill which is my second favorite walking activity.
I am trying to not worry or project negativity but it is sure hard. I may have to put my I-O-W-A plan into action because I plan to keep losing weight and get to maintenance ! Tc

I am truly unhappy with the water and fruit/ veggie trackers being moved on my nutrition page. I believe we should have control of where it is on our pages and have submitted a request to the "suggestion" page. If you agree, maybe let spark know. TC

Hi All,
Back home again! I am not used to getting the RV ready for the next trip, while still away! It was more work than I figured on. At least it is done and there is just a bunch of unpacking and settling back at home to do now. My clocks are still on old time...so confusion reigns!

Sharon, I hope you are deeling better! And thank you and Tammy for leading this challenge and for your great habit change assignments each week.

I think we all learned something, whether we lost weight or not. For me, I came home 2 pounds less than I left with. I probably would have gained otherwise. Most important I learned the choices are my own on what I do and what I eat and drink. I can do whatever I choose, the consequences will be there.

Now for the big challenges...the holidays! I need to remember even here, I cannot do much damage in one day...but I can do a lot of damage in the entire 4-6 week season.

I need to be choosie on what I eat and drink!

Happy holidays everyone! See you on the new thread!

Thank you Sharon for overseeing this challenge! I really enjoyed being a part of it!

Like Mary said, I will miss it now that it's over. But with us (DH and me) about to take off traveling (the day after Thanksgiving), I am happy to be ending with a loss!

And a shout-out to my buddy, Jude: It was fun to get to know you during this challenge.

Sharon: Thanks for the challenge. If nothing else it keeps me on track. You are thinking all the time. You are a GREAT! ! ! team leader. Love ya...

Larry woke up this morning His eye was so swollen. We kind of freaked. He called the doctor and the doctor said to him "what do you expect you just had an operation." So he really is in pain. He tries to put drops in and with it swollen it is tough.
I hated to leave him this morning but there isn't much that I can do. I call him ever 2 hours and he seemed to be OK. I got home at 7pm after being at the BIGGEST Bazaar I have ever seen. People from all over everywhere. You could NOT see the other side of the isle because there was wall to wall people. It was hard to show your stuff because it was just so crowded. I did sell over $100. I think if you figure it out I made about $10 an hour. But then if you figured that out the supplies weren't paid for.
I have to go again tomorrow and it is opened from 11am-4pm I will discount the bows and get the bows out of my site so I can do some things for Christmas. Opps! i still have to make 6 Can Can dresses. Oh heck always something to do.
Well it is getting late and I am TIRED!

Heather: I love your little jingles. You are great....

Later everyone...

Good Evening!

Golly - I take a sick day and I can't believe all I've missed, lol. I did sleep most of the afternoon. It was so dark and the rain on the MH lulled me I think. Anyway, this evening I am feeling much better.

I will post our final report in the morning. I need to send a reminder to Jude as we haven't heard from her yet. Also, still no work from Alice.

After I post the Final Report, I will allow you all to continue your comments in regards to this challenge. However, come Monday, I will start a new thread

HOLIDAY SURVIVAL - Check in accountability, recipes, tips and Gen'l Discussion

Watch for it on Monday!

Mary, I am glad you learned something about maintenance. I am trusting you to be around to help once I get there, emoticon .

Sharon, Like every one else, I am so appreciative of your efforts for putting together this challenge. Mom always had allergies here but once in AZ, it went away, so sorry to hear that is not the case with you. Feel better soon.

Carol, Glad to see you here even if you sometimes do not feel positive. I know you are doing as well as you can . I also know your day will come when you finally see the bright light that comes from being you.

Alice, Come check in girl. We miss you. Do not fret about weight or eating or tracking. It is not worth it. Just start over and do what you can. I can't wait to see your pics of all your projects that you are working on. I do hope you are going to share pics.

Congrats to all that lost weight, did not gain, or just learned something new. We are all champions ! Tc

emoticon Forgive me for posting so late. Busy day, starting with hair balls. emoticon Not mine! Then I had to pay bills and do banking, only to find out that my gym closes at Noon on Saturday emoticon . Hurry, hurry! Spent an hour and a half there, just taking my time, working on form vs reps. Then, off to my office to do some extra work on Abstracting for Epic, our new electronic health record. More pay for the holidays. Spent 5 hours there, and it's dark when I leave the floor. Had to use a flashlight to get out!

Going to the gym has helped me stay away from after work (or all day long at home) snacking, so that's a good thing. emoticon

Keep up the good work, my friends!

EVENING ALL!

Checking in before I shut down for the night!

Lots of GOOD results overall this challenge! WAY TO GO!

I ....have to share.....Once I hit maintenance..the first week after....didn't do so well...and I was like...OH NO..NOT AGAIN! LOL! Yet....I gave it a lot of thought....and since then....I have done well...without REALLY trying...seriously. Not sure why that is...but I know a few times...I thought....not today....I won't have that today......and I didn't.! It is like the pressure is off. and I can think and eat normally. Not sure how long this will last..but....just going to go with it. I do keep track of my points still....and that has helped me not go crazy as well.

Sharon - Thanks so much for doing the challenge work for us. So sorry you're feeling so tough. I know that you went through this before but you sure don't want it while you're in AZ. It sounds like you an Jacque are going through the same thing.

I'm still not feeling real good as far as my hip/leg pain is concerned. I don't expect it to get better over night but I sure would like that :) I keep icing it several times a day at least. We were out today for awhile and did some walking and standing so by the time I got home I was in a big need of the ice.

TC - Great job. You've been working so hard at doing it all right and it's paying off. I probably could be more diligent like you are.

Darn I for got the other losses from the Template site but I know someone else had a good loss. I'll have to go back and check.

OK, I went and checked. Good job Mary. Now we all have to keep it off. With the holidays here it's not going to be easy.

Better do some thing around here.

I saw some very good #s on the weigh in thread! emoticon

After three weeks of being up, I finally had a bit of a loss this morning. I am still not entirely sure what was going on, and am up a bit overall, but at this time last year it was going up much more and more steeply at that. I am trying some different things, one of them changing up my preferred outside walking, or at least the amount of it that I do. I will still need to do some, but I need to change it up for various reasons. I got my Leslie Sansone videos back out and also my Richard Simmons ones and am going to add those to my mix. I have also been trying to do some yoga stretching as well. I know it doesn't burn as many calories, but I think the stretches will help some other things going on with me anyway.

OK, so now I've gone and looked at the WIs and added mine I need to comment some more.

Arlene, great job on the challenge, Down over 9 lbs.

Mary, you too great job down right at 9 lbs

TC, look at you go girl 16 lbs gone, only you might go back and look at the last weight you put in lol.

It looks like just about everyone is down for the challenge. That shows that even if we have a gain if we stick with the program, whatever that may be for you, the overall numbers will be down. I'm so proud of all of us on this challenge. We have learned a lot about ourselves in this challenge I believe. I know I have. I couldn't be happier than to have a group of friends like you all. I look forward to the day that I can meet more of you face to face. I know that I've loved all the ladies I've met from this team. I look forward to a new challenge with you after the first of the year. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning all. I still need to go to the other thread and post my weight, but I hit this one first, so here I am emoticon . I think we all need some of that.
I did have a loss this week, so I'm glad for that. I'm going to have to look and see if it ends up being a loss for the challenge. It should be, but I truly don't remember where I started.

Sharon, I hope you start to feel better soon. I'm suffering with a bit of a headache today too, and I'm thinking it has to be sinus' because it is making my eyes hurt. I'm going to take something as soon as I get off of here. I'm glad to see a loss for you, even though it is a small loss. It's moving that scale in the right direction.

Tessa, good job with a loss overall. I will be thrilled when I can say I'm under 154 again.

Arlene, good job with an overall loss for the challenge. That is what we were working for afterall. I hope your hip is feeling better today.

Mary, I hope you stick around it is a joy to see your posts.

Well, I'm off of here for now. Good WI to everyone.

Morning!
My physical body is feeling crappy today! My sinuses are acting up with all this rain. I have a headache and sore throat - yuck! It doesn't help that I only lost .2 lb! I'm glad it wasn't a gain though. I don't think I'll even get dressed for awhile but had to check in and see how the WI's are going!

I see we're all over the board with losses and gains. I'm looking forward to doing our final report after everyone checks in.

I think we've lost Alice as she never checked in all week. Hope she didn't go away mad.

I can't say I'm excited about my weight this morning but I'm really ok with it since I haven't had near as much exercise this week as I would have liked. I managed to stay the same as last week but I have a loss for the challenge that I'm happy with.

Good luck everyone. I see when I logged my weight there are some losses coming in already. Great.

It's been a tough day for me. I think the weather change has a lot to do with my hurting. I did make it to the "Y" and put in some time in the pool. That did feel good. My eating has been good. Supper probably could have been better but I only had a very small bowl, 1 cup, of the Knoephla Soup I had made yesterday.

So far the scale has been good to me. It may not be a loss but I'm still the same as last week.

I feel like I should be posting our new guideline for next week but tomorrow ends our challenge. I hope you have examined your daily lifestyles in the last few weeks and come out of this challenge with new insight as to your own behavior and what you are doing that helps or how you are sabotaging yourself.

Good luck on our final WI tomorrow. I honestly don't know what the scale will say. We just got back from eating lunch with a group if eight. I had a turkey sandwich and ordered fruit instead of fries! Each meal is a struggle to make good choices!

I'm about ready to choke this laptop, lol. For some reason or other it is wanting me to change the date and time. They are correct, but my cursor keeps jumping down there on it's own and bringing it up. I don't know what's going on with it.

Ruthann, I'm glad they were able to get Larry right in and hopefully this will get things fixed up for him. Have a great time at the bazaar. I bet the auditions will be fun.

Sharon, I hope you're feeling better today. Be gentle with those muscles. We can't just jump in there and start at the top like we did when we were young and dumb, lol. I know I definitely feel it if I overdo things.

Mary, I'm sure all your hurting is do to you having been sick last week. make sure you get all your water in to flush out all that sickness. You are doing great though.

I've been adding extra movement into everything I've done today. Hope it helps tomorrow with the WI.

Well, time to get off of here, I'll pop back in later.

Ruthann - what a horrible experience for you and Larry, especially Larry! I pray for the best outcome and will look forward to future updates. It doesn't seem to be slowing you down. I hope the craft show is worth it for you. Good luck on all of it!

Tammy - my scale is like yours, it's also going up and down. I haven't exercised much this week which I find ironic since this is the week to evaluate our exercise and make adjustments. As I said earlier, I have evaluated mine and now know that I can not go from being inactive to being as active as some of my Spark Friends!

Mary - I have been in WW's a few times and I think your meetings depend on the leader. I've had great leaders where the meetings left me very uplifted. Other times the leaders did nothing to motivate me. It sounds like you have a great leader!

Carol - sorry for the struggles you are going through concerning your doctor. I think it isn't all bad as a new doctor may find something that your other doctor may overlook due to familiarity.

Brenda - Unfortunately, Mike isn't the only one that doesn't eat proper portions. Nuts, dried fruit and snack foods are the most common to overeat portion size but most foods can be abused. It's a wake up call for all of us.

Ruthann, My thoughts and prayers are with you and Larry too. What a day you had yesterday and what a day you have today!

Got some walking in yesterday and then had the strangest night. Went to sleep early, like usually lately, woke up to use the BR. Felt like I was going to pass out, got vert hot and sweaty. Had to wake up my DH to help me back into bed. I feel good is morning. Almost like a fever broke or something.

Since my wi is on Fri. because of the trip, I am happy to report being down from last week and the best news for me is being down 2 pounds since the challenge started and that is with being in Pismo 4 of the 6 weeks. I attibute the loss mostly to my increased exercise.

Hope you all have a good day and a good wi tomorrow. Today and tomorrow will be final laundry and packing up and cleaning to leave for home by noon tomorrow.

I will be checking in, but will not have too much time to spend on the p.c.

Happy Friday, all!

Hi
I am on a schedule that you just wouldn't believe.

Two evenings ago Larry had a black floater come flying across his bad eye. He told me about it and it was getting dark from the top of his eye. I told him to call the doctor. This was at 10pm. The doctor called right back. He told him not to eat and that he wanted to see in in the morning in Tacoma at 8am. Tacoma is about 40+ miles from home. We got there on time and he said we have a Rush operation in Redmond and probably another 30 miles. Well anyway we got their about 10am and there were 2 more operations ahead of Larry with the same problem. I told him to go in the pre op room and there he could relax while they are trying to find a spot for him. He waiting until 2:30pm and he came out at 5pm. It was a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG day. It was freezing out and I had the dog in the car so I kept going and heating the car up for him.
What Larry had done was a band that was put around his eye. There is another name for it but I can't remember.
He has a doctors appointment today 9am to remove the patch over his eye and check out his operation.
My day consist of
Taking Larry to doctors
go to the senior center for auditions from 11-3 today.
I have been accepted into the biggest Bazaar in the state for the week end. I will keep in touch with Larry by phone.
So I need to go over tonight and see where I will be and set up the Christmas tree.

Well I must get going and start my race of the day.
Thanks for all your best wishes and prayers.
I pray this is the last time and it works for Larry.

Hi, friends!

Carol, hope your coffee went well; I am meeting my BF for lunch on Saturday and I always look forward to that. The coffee would do less "damage", though! LOL It is HARD to change doctors; I did that a few times during my working life as my insurance providers would switch between our two "main" ones in SW Missouri, and then one other time when a doctor that I really liked moved to Oklahoma. I was fortunate, though. My latest change is the best one; she is about my age and her husband works for the same community college that I do and loves it, so perhaps they are in the area to stay.

Mary, is Greg going hunting?

Scale-wise I am not doing so well this week - up and down a lot, more than usual it seems but perhaps not - but I am consciously trying to mix up my fitness as well as other things. I am trying to get more "regular" with a beginning yoga utube video and I went through a DVD yesterday. After all this time, I actually didn't prefer to walk, which is strange. I have walked in rain, snow, wind, etc over the past 3+ years.

Jacque, our weather forecast is now for highs in the 30s and weather underground showed sn** [see, I can't even type that hateful word!] between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. this morning.
Hancock Fabrics keeps showing some grand fleece sales in their ads; are you taking advantage of any of them?

Have a good day!

Good afternoon all. It sounds like everyone needs some of both of the above. It's cloudy here today and the cold front is supposed to move in tomorrow I think. Other than checking to see what sort of clothing I need to have on I don't pay much attention to the weather. It can get too depressing, lol.

Brenda, I'm glad you started to do the exercises the Dr gave you for your ankle. I was thinking Plantar Fascitis while reading. I hope you are able to work the kinks out.

Sharon, I hope your back is feeling better today too. Yes we sometimes get more motivated than our poor out of shape bodies can handle. Slow and steady wins the race.
Slow and easy stretching will I hope get you back in shape.

Arlene, I hope the Chiro was able to give you some relief today too.

PJ, I hope things are going well with your dad.

Tammy, hope the weather is easy on you and you miss the brunt of the storm.

I hope all the rest of you are having a good day.

I haven't managed to get much exercise in so far this week, but I have used my exercise band that I have connected to my work chair a few times a day. My eating has been better this week though, so hopefully the scales will be good.

About time to get busy in here so better sign off for now. Have a good evening all.

Sounds like we are having a lot of aches and pains this week. I just got my knee supports out and am going to town today to pick up some slip-on boots and more winter clothes out of storage. I'll get the hang of this cold damp weather yet. emoticon Just 25 degrees here today. Brrrrrrrr.

emoticon Haven't disappeared, dear friends, but have had a kind of unhappy week. For me, anyway. I see an old acquaintaince for coffee today, and then re-start at my gym. That's good.

The unhappy part is that I've had to "fire" my family practice doctor of probably 30 years. He's a good doctor, and has won awards for his diabetes care, but my appointments with him became more about his complaints about the way my clinic is run (I work in a specialty psychiatric practice), than about my health concerns. He also acted like I was going to be his conduit for the "head of the line" for getting his people in. I believe in getting people in according to their needs, not the doctors ego. So, After 30 years of an otherwise good relationship, I'm having to find another primary care provider. Wish me luck with my new one.

Morning!

Just got word from Ruthann that Larry's had a set back and they are on the way to another possible surgery. He is devastated and so I ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as this will be a difficult day for them both.

It is very overcast here today but temps are still pleasant. We are supposed to have a storm front move in late today bringing with it rain and colder temps. We will only be topping out in the 60's for the next couple of days.

I don't think between my leg and the weather, I will get much exercise for the next couple of days. I agree with Margie - I have never been very active and lead a sedentary life. My body can't handle me going from 1,000 steps a day to 10,000 steps! Then add more exercise and I get pain.

I hope my guideline for this week hasn't given anyone else pain. I still stand by exercise and think that only walking is not enough. BUT, take any increase slowly and listen to your body!

Sharon....so sorry to hear that you are in pain. No fun! I often think of us with our exercise as weekend warriors, we want to do it all, all of a sudden and our bodies let us know they are not going along with it. Hope you will be back to normal very soon.

Yesterday, I did no walking and had a terrific steak dinner my DH BBQ'd. Delicious! The last few days of our trip, I decided I really want to enjoy myself...I know it will not look well on my final wi, but it is a decision I made and will have to put up with the consequences of it.

Have a good day, everyone. We had rain yesterday and it is still cloudy, so there might be more coming!

Hi
Just popping in to say hello, I'm in the midst of a few very busy days (work) but I have fitted some exercise in-Marianne I do hope that trainer is working you hard!
Bit too much nibbling as I was baking yesterday but otherwise eating is going OK.
It's getting cold here too so I've finished off knitting a hat for my GD & got it in the post today.

Hi, friends!

I am just emoticon at Ruthann's activities and Heather's help.

We have possibility of a wintry mix a few days out in our forecast. Brrrr!

I am going to get to the Supercenter this morning to finally get my eyes checked; I knew I needed to and then Larry's problem really kept it in the front of my mind. Today I am going to DO it! I had vision insurance until my COBRA coverage ran out, but my last pair of glasses - 4? 5? years ago still cost me over $200 even with the insurance. It will be interesting what happens at WalMart.

I am anticipating Saturday because I am meeting my BF for lunch and seeing her new French doors that she has had installed in her house. That will be fun!

Have a good day!

Good evening all. I'm here at work and thought I'd check in. The first race just left the gates.

Heather, what a wonderful thing to do for Ruthann, and good job too. That is a special talent.

Ruthann, so glad Heather was able to take something of your list. You have so many things on it, but just one thing at a time and they will all disappear.

Arlene, sorry to hear you are having pain. It really sucks when we can't do the things we want because of pain. I hope you get to feeling better quickly.

Sharon, I'm sorry to hear you are having pain too. Slow easy stretches may help to work it out. I'm glad you are trying to do something to cheer your DD. I'm sure that it will be a difficult holiday season for them, without y'all there.

Margie, I bet the boots are cute. I have to be careful when I walk past boots. I really like them, don't wear them much anymore, but still really like them.

PJ, when do y'all head south? I know the weather is starting to get pretty dicey up your way.

I hope everyone has had a good day. I have just been plugging away here at work. Pretty quiet for the most part, but am just getting the chance to get on the computer. Well, I'll check out for now. Have a good night.

Sorry to be missing so much but things are happening here. I've been super busy mostly just enjoying resort living. But we've been trying to make arrangements to have our DD fly down and spend some time with us. I may have mentioned that she was not happy we were not coming home. Well, it's escalated and she is pretty upset that we're gone for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Plus, she always looks forward to the weekend her and I got Christmas shopping overnight together. It's amazing though, just telling her we would like to fly her here as make her so happy. So she is busy making arrangements with her church, her family and everything else it takes to get away from her family for a few days. It probably won't be until Jan or Feb but it will help her get through the Holidays with something to look forward to.

My eating hasn't been too bad this week so far but I pulled the muscle up the back of my leg over the weekend so I haven't done too much walking or exercise. I ended up even passing on Water Aerobics so you know I'm hurting! It's something we have to deal with as we age so be careful when you push yourself.

Arlene - sorry about your snow and your pain. I've been using my resistance bands to get some upper body work in while I'm letting my leg get back to normal.

Hi all.
It's decided to give us some snow. Not happy about it today tho, our son makes a trip out of town 2 days a week for his job and today is one of them and it's in oil country so there are a lot of drivers who are not used to driving on snowy roads.

My eating has been good today but no exercise. I've been sitting with an ice pack on my hip off an on today.
