Tessa, that all sounds lovely! I am quite envious, but am glad you shared! [I am going to have to look up what a marmotte is, though.]

I enjoyed a bike ride in fairly cool temps.

today we walked in the mountains for nearly 4 hours. We saw lots of beautiful flowers, the late spring and being high up means we are seeing more than usual. We also saw some marmottes digging a burrow, right in the middle of what will be a ski piste (trail) in winter! I was able to get quite close so got some photos.
We've been away now for about 10 days and haven't yet had to pay campsite fees. France is great with it's free aires where you can stop overnight. We stopped for a couple of nights to watch the tour de France go past, we were on a pass with about 100 other motorhomes! It was great fun! Now we are in Switzerland, we are moving tomorrow to the Grimsel pass then we'll go to my Mums house and meet up with our older 2 children & GD. Hoping the good weather will last for their holiday too.

Jacque - I hear ya! They canceled our Water Aerobics this morning. I'm all suited up and ready to go when they called to cancel. They felt it was too cold (57 degrees) to get in the water! Ha - we don't let that stop us in AZ!

Jacque - house work such as laundry is good exercise and exaggerating the movements can't hurt!

Tessa - I'm glad you're having fun on vacation and I know you'll be losing in the challenge so don't think about your weight until you are back home!

This morning was water aerobics and this afternoon our community is having a Chair Exercise class. I can use any form of exercise so I'm going to go check it out!

Tessa, enjoy your holiday and don't worry about the weight until you get back home and then you'll be ready to hit the new challenge full blast. You're going to be on the team with PJ, Ruthann and I. We're calling ourselves the Blue Butterflies.

I got to the gym this morning and got in my 10 mins on the treadmill. I've been over exaggurating all my movements while doing the laundry today. making the pulling out of the washer and putting into the dryer a twist type exercise. I can tell I'm getting more of a workout with it than usual. Weighed and was the same as last week. I'm not going to complain about it, because I didn't track last week at all. Got to get back in the swing.

Sharon, good job on the pound down. You're on a good roll and I think that's a good way to start the challenge. You've got your mojo going.

Ruthann, Sharon has a point. It seems like all of our social activities revolve around food. We just have to learn how to deal with this. You'll make it I have faith in you.

I got out and got a good sweat in early this morning. I went out and cleaned the outside of the Tahoe this morning before I went out to get my massage and do my Monday running. I met Robby for lunch at Chilis and had the Margarita Chicken. It's on the light menu, so I should be good. I had popcorn for dinner. I went shopping and didn't buy any food, lol. Robby had leftover shrimp from dinner last night that he ate, but I didn't have any leftovers, I'd eaten it last night, and nothing in the house I wanted to fix. I need to go on and log it all to see where I stand for the day. I took the Tahoe over and dropped it off at the mechanic's to have them fix the A/C. That is an absolute must down here. I had driven it this morning and at one point had to roll the windows up, because it started to rain. The blower works, so I was able to get air, it was just hot. I survived though emoticon .
Can't wait for the new challenge. I need to get on the stick.

I finally made another pound loss - yeah, me! It took four days and seemed like forever but I'm happy with my progress. I'll be going in to our Challenge with high hopes. I won't have a huge loss in the beginning like I normally do when starting a challenge because I've already lost that water weight. But I'm working hard to get to Onederland before we head out to Custer. So the Challenge will be a big motivator for me!

Ruthann - I've decided that every thing revolves around decadent food every week, every day! Just hold your head high and eat small portions! Spend more time talking than eating. I'm in your corner, and I know you can do this!

Jacque - the challenge should be good for all of us. No more excuses for not getting some exercise in. Let's go!

Carol - good job of losing while on vacation. I can see losing weight when hiking around and enjoying Mesa Verde. I lost weight when we spent a couple week's traveling around Utah and hiking the National Parks. Now you can get back to drinking that water, yeah! The water really helps with weight loss.

I see everyone is keeping their weight loss in line..Good job.
This next week with eating out and two birthday lunches, and the most famous. Fair scones. Yikes I may be doomed for the week.
But will try not to eat as much as I think I want. HA.

Carol and Sharon good job on seeing losses. I was down a pound last week. Haven't been on a scale since Thurs.

I got in some walking today. We went to the flea market after breakfast and then to Tractor Supply to roam around in there. That's about the extent of it though. We've just been relaxing at home. I've napped off and on all day. We just got home from dinner and thought I'd better pop in.

Yup, I did lose pounds on vacation! Of course, visiting Mesa Verde we walked a lot, but I think what really helped was being interested in things, drinking lots of water and not having 24/7 access to snacks. Since and we couldn't have even water at our desks (which I think is ridiculous) so my 8 glasses went out the window. Very anxiety provoking, too. They're gone now, so back to the routine. emoticon

I went to the movies and saw Red 2 ( which was fun ). I used my new bag from Weezie to sneak in a popped bag of 100 calorie kettle corn and a diet coke. After the movie we stopped at a restaurant called Goog's which we heard was really good. And it was! I had Broasted Chicken which wasn't low calorie but popcorn was my lunch so I came out OK calorie wise for the day.

I did get a nice walk in today so that should help!

Well, no gym this morning. Came in to work a little early. Want to get it all done so I can go and get my 'new' car. Not really sure how we're going to work the logistics yet. I may not pick it up until Sunday, that way Robby can just take me over to their house and I'll drive it back. If I try and do it from work, there will be an extra vehicle one way or the other, lol.

Lorraine is getting excited. She has bought battery lights, porta potty, I wonder what is next. She is getting so excited. I got a security tent.

Water aerobics #2! I will probably go Thursday and Friday as well, and then it will be nice to get back to my bike on Monday when we go home. [The campground doesn't have the aerobics during the weekends.] I just need to find me a personalized towel! LOL Sharon, I was thinking to myself this morning "I wonder if Sharon is doing her water aerobics right now..." Ours are at 9 a.m. CST.

I was up 0.2# this morning...I am doing LOTS of exercise, so that could be part of it, OR it could be some remaining sodium from the Chinese with our friend Monday night....It's only a big deal because of the BLC challenge I am in.

Have a good day, friends.

Afternoon Ladies!

I ate out last night at the casino. I ordered the turkey club sandwich w/broccoli instead of french friends. I have to admit I was so hungry that I ate most of it. I did take out part of the third slice of bread! But I was within my range and my weight was down this morning.

I did water aerobics yesterday and today so that is helping. Tammy, I always walk to and from the pool which is about 1/2 miles back and forth. I figure it also helps and I don't care if people look out and see a whale walk by, lol. Ruthann, I went and got my wonderful new towel out of the MH and I'm getting lots of use out of it. Everyone has complimented me on my personalized towel!

Jacque - we are happy for each and every pound that comes off! Keep up the good work!

I got to the gym this morning and got in 11 mins on the treadmill. I was happy to see that even after my weekend of splurges I was down 1#. I'll take that. Now to work on the next 1# down.

I have now been to my first water aerobics; I walked there and back - not sure that was the BEST idea, but oh, well! The actual instructor was gone today, so a couple who take the session normally did the session. I enjoyed it and kept up "okay", I think. It was a little hard for me to hear them - other noises, etc, that weren't really good with my hearing problem and I was careful of my foot/balance, but I think I did okay and so that's good enough!

Drinking lots and lots of water today - SS and Jacque will know that I had Chinese last night. A friend of ours was here on the park, and he wanted to go. I hated to say no, so I didn't. LOL As for the multiple "ice cream" references in my FB post, I was just teasing a good friend of mine who I tagged in the FB post.

Well, I'm home again, safe and sound, though I don't think my weight will be. Eating out every meal is hard on the waistline. We had a very nice trip. Got to see both of Robby' s youngest (20 & 22).I did manage to get over 10,000 steps in on both days though. I did lots of walking around the new casino we went to and this morning I did lots of walking, just window shopping.

Tammy, I can understand you not taking the bike. There will be plenty of other ways to get in your exercise though. Hope you're having a good time.

Sharon, the GC from CB should have phone number or website on it that you could find out about the expiration date. Good job on the loss. I'm sure your body was just catching up with the few days of plateau you were having.

Tessa, have a great trip. Have lots of fun for us all and like Sharon said a blog and pics would be wonderful.

My weight has been stuck steady for several days but this morning it was down a whole lb! I quickly recorded my loss and hope it stays off for good!

Tammy - while you're at CB, ask if they gift certificates expire for me. Have fun as it sounds good to me. I ate rice cakes w/peanut butter and jelly for breakfast - definitely NOT CB!

Thanks for the thought, SS! A couple of years ago, we got four CB gift cards from various people! LOL I thought we would NEVER use them up. LOL We haven't been to CB for a bit, so it will be nice. I love to look around as well; sometimes - not often - I replenish my candle supply, but that's about it.

DH and I will be off in a couple of hours. I am just about ready!

Tammy - I have a gift certificate we got for Christmas for Cracker Barrel that we never have used. Don't know if they expire but if I had time I would have gladly sent it to you. I love to look around the retail store (although I never buy much). I guess we'll have to stop in our travels and see if it's still good. We don't have any around Zeeland. I understand not taking the bike. It is a pain and Norm hated carrying both bikes and scooters. Now we just have the bikes to haul the electric bikes! I'm sure you'll find plenty of ways to exercise. I hope you have good weather and enjoy your time in Branson!

Hi, friends!

I am beginning to get things in the motorhome for our departure tomorrow morning. DH is going to take it to our local service dealership before we take off; we will hook up the tow vehicle there in a lot. I have placed some clothes in it this morning, and am beginning to prepare menus for our meals that we will eat in the motorhome - not that we don't have some meals away planned as well! DH always looks forward to going to Cracker Barrell - the HUMONGOUS breakfast with the blackberry pancakes is on his agenda - I just do an egg and bacon and toast and take one bite of his pancakes. Even before Sparkpeople, I could not do pancakes for breakfast regardless of what else I ate - not sure if it was the syrup or the carbs. I can do them for dinner, but not for breakfast.

We [or I should say I] have decided not to take the bike this time. We don't really have room; we are planning to leave our motorhome down at the park, as we will be going back down in two? three? weeks and periodically throughout the fall if all goes as planned. The Saturn won't hold us, Sugar Dog, and the bike - no, we don't have a bike rack yet. Regardless, it wouldn't do me any harm to do something different for a week anyway. There is a fitness room with an elliptical [gee, maybe I could work on coordination! LOL], rowing machines, etc, plus there is the pools and the walking...I think I can manage.

Not quite Tessa's drive into France, though... emoticon

Tessa - sounds like our challenge beginning on the 27th is good timing for you. Right after your vacation you will be working hard to get those pounds back off. Have a wonderful time and you should post a blog about it (with pictures) when you return. Most of us from the US and Canada will never get to the places you are going!

I'm up 2 pounds (I thought it would be worse). Decided I should know my weight before we start our holiday!
So today is church and packing, then we'll set off this evening and cross to France before sleeping.

Keep up the good work everyone, track your food and keep moving, I'll be joining you in the challenge when I get back. I do hope to pop in while we are away too.

Good Afternoon

Tammy - I know how much your DH enjoys his fishing so yes, he should definitely fish! You are eating and exercising so well and your weight is coming down, good for you! My weight did go back down this morning so I feel better about that. Norm wanted to stop at Steak 'n Shake for lunch today and I squirmed as I know their sandwiches are so high in calories. But, fortunately for me, they had a nice Grilled Chicken Salad w/Berry Vinaigrette Dressing that was under 400 calories so I ended up being a "happy" diner!

Jacque - keep tracking! At least you know your sodium is high early enough in the day to flush it out with fluids.

Good afternoon all.

Tammy, it's so good your DH supports you. Putting the 5Ks on the schedule for you. Yes he deserves his fishing. I'm glad you are a little cooler and able to get out. I hope you are able to work in some water aerobics while you are in Branson.

I didn't make the gym this morning, but I have been tracking. My calories for today are alright, but my sodium is way over today. I'll have to really suck up some water to flush it all out.

Hi, friends! Are you all out exercising?

Here it is almost noon CST and I am the first.... emoticon

I enjoyed some raw veggies - with some zucchini spears added in from our very own garden - and some dip along with our lunch. I walked AND rode my bike this morning; can you tell it is cooler in SW Missouri? SS, I am going to try to take in water aerobics next week when we are at Treasure Lake in Branson...they do have an indoor pool as well as an outdoor pool. I will have to check on the times; DH wants to go fishing in Lake Taneycomo and from reports he has read, it appears the fish are biting best midmorning and midafternoon. I don't want to discourage him from fishing. He already is putting my 5Ks on our fall schedule, so I think he needs to get his fishing in, right?

Have a good day, friends.

I am also looking forward to the next challenge. I stepped on the scale and my weight is up so far for the week. I don't know if it's because my 5% challenge is over and I don't have any accountability or what's going on. Honestly, my eating hasn't changed. Maybe less walking but overall more exercise because of water aerobics. Perhaps my body is adjusting to the increased exercise or something. Anyway, it will be fun to begin our challenge. I hope we get more people! So far I only seven ladies respond. I know we can do better than that!!!

Good morning all. I can't believe I'm the first one on here today.

Sharon, I'm looking forward to the next challenge.

I got to the gym again this morning and got in 12 mins on the treadmill. That's one more than yesterday. I tracked all my food yesterday and am getting ready to put in this mornings breakfast. Stress is much relieved this morning and I'm ready to rock the next challenge

Well, girls, help is on the way for those of you that enjoy the RV Enthusiasts team challenges. I just sent out a Spark Mail to the team. We'll see what kind of results I get. I agree with Jacque. I think the long interaction we've had with each other makes us more accountable as we don't want to let our Spark Friends down. I hope you all Spark Mail me that you want to join our challenge!

Tammy, I think the team thing probably means more with the Rvers, because we've all known each other so long on here that we really feel the need to do our best. I was on a FB challenge and just totally bombed it. Well, I take that back I did manage to lose 3 pounds in 12 weeks.

Ruthann, you are right. It doesn't matter how healthy or good for you a food is, too much of a good thing is still bad. Eat less, move more. When you move more you can eat more, just not much. You haven't lost, I'm sure due to the fact that you are stressing, tired and actually haven't eaten enough. I'm glad you have a go to exercise. I still haven't found the one that just calls to me. I like going to the gym, but I am still trying to figure out how to work it into my schedule.

I went to the gym this morning. First time in a couple of weeks. Got in 11 mins on the treadmill. I can tell I haven't been keeping up with this. The scale was not nice to me. I have gained back all that I had lost on the last challenge I was on. Someone come and kick me into gear please

Ruthann, preach it, sister! Absolutely true for all of us, in my opinion. So of course I liked it! emoticon

Thanks for the kind words, Jacque and SS. The "team" thing hasn't been quite as much of a deal for me here in BLC...not exactly sure why, but it sure was here with the RV Enthusiasts challenges.

Ruthann - I know you're right so I keep cutting my portion size down. One day it will be a habit with me and I won't feel like I'm being punished. I do know that when I over eat I am uncomfortable and I no longer like that feeling!

Good Morning:
Eating less is the plan. NO matter what diet your on the secret is EATING LESS. Eating the right healthy things is better for you. Exercise is for helping you breath easier and keeping your body in tone so you won't be a slug when you get older. The secret is find the exercise that you don't feel like your punishing yourself. Mine is line dancing.

I have been working day and night. Only eat one meal a day. Lorraine and I haven't stopped. She hasn't lost and neither have I. More about this on Daily post.

You can pay a fortune for clubs, diet pills, water pills etc etc etc etc.....and it is all about
EATING LESS.

NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS PROGRAM OURSELVES TO DO IT...

LIFE IS GOD'S GIFT TO YOU ... HOW YOU LIVE IT IS YOUR
GIFT TO GOD, YOURSELF AND LOVED ONES.

Good morning all.

Sharon, lol. I wish all these Drs, who are so-called 'experts' would get together on their theories. I don't much listen to any of them. Exercise is essential to our well-being. I agree that exercise alone would be a very difficult way to lose all the weight I need to lose, but I also know that if I don't exercise I don't lose. Cutting back on how much we eat is also an absolute, but I don't believe that eliminating all the foods we like is right either. Most of what I like is stuff I grew up on and we all know that it is hard to let go of these things. I think that we can still have them, we just have to learn when to say enough. Each of us has to find the happy medium between 'diet' and exercise. I know that the more I move the better I feel and the easier it is for me to lose. I think that for you the more you move the better you feel too. I'm just going by what I read of course.

Tammy, good job on the loss this week. You have just about gotten yourself back down to your maintenance weight. I know you'll make it there. 150 is the high end of where I'd like to be. I'd be much happier if I were down in the 140s, even mid to high 130s. Right now I'm just looking for Onederland again.

Tammy - you are doing so well in the challenge! But then, you always do well in challenges. I usually do too, especially if it's a team as I don't want to disappoint anyone. We also have high heat and humidity so I don't know how much outdoor exercise I'll be doing. I'm sure I'll be doing water aerobics this morning so that will help.

Jacque - exercise is the hardest thing for me to do. I am coming up on 70 and I have never moved much in my life so I know I'm not about to start now. But if I can walk and move or ride a bike, I know it helps. The doctor on Good Morning America yesterday said it's very difficult to lose weight by exercise as it takes so long to burn calories. He highly recommends exercise to help your cardio system but says not to lean on exercise to lose weight. So definitely exercise but also cut back on your food intake. Darn! I knew it - I have to eat less!

Tessa, is there as much "maths hate" there as there is here in the US? Maybe "hate" is too strong a word.

Today was our weigh-in for my BLC challenge, and I was down more than the past couple of weighins, so I was happy about that. I have lost 8.4# since we began 5?6? weeks ago. I am getting closer to my BLC goal of being under 160. My long-term goal is to maintain around 150, but I haven't seen 150 since late last fall. I am thinking that my increased exercise will be a big key for my maintaining better than I did. Of course, if I would learn to like to eat less, that would help! Ha ha ha!

We are forecast to have three digit heat indices today...but we are getting a light rain right now. There is also a chance of tstorms this afternoon, also.

Have a good day, friends. I am going to be munching on some raw veggies on a tray that I bought a few days ago....

Hi, friends!

Every day is a new day - actually every meal is a chance to do better. I have off days; what is important is to get right back to it. Remember the 80/20 rule....change will happen when you make better choices 80% of the time. That allows for an off day. 1 day out of 7 is 17%, which means you are making good choices 83% of the time...and that's even better than the 80/20 rule. [I couldn't resist the arithmetic lesson...for those of you who don't know, I am a mostly retired former high school math teacher! Don't hate me! emoticon ]

SS, back in my early Sparking days, I purposely choose to eat those chips and cheese sauce, because I love them and still do! That would be a reward after my week of hard work and a good weighin, and yes it was for the RV Enthusiast challenges! LOL I know they say that food shouldn't be a reward, but occasionally it is for me...so? Just go on...

My extra water helped the scale to look better this morning, which was encouraging, and since I weigh in for my BLC challenge tomorrow, I will be pushing it today as well. I had a big day as far as exercise minutes yesterday, so I am going to go for fewer today - I will get in a short bike ride this evening and call it good for the day.

Have a good day! I am going to get a hair cut - haven't had once since before the wedding, and I have piano this afternoon.

Sharon, you're right, there's no use crying over spilled milk, so to speak. I can only do better today. I know you will. My big issue right now is I haven't been getting the exercise. I can tell it too, some of my pants are feeling a little snug. Got to get busy. I have no intention of going back up in size.

Tessa, I'm sure that running after a 17 mo will definitely burn some calories. Have fun.

I'm at work taking care of Saturday's laundry. I got my paperwork done, that should've been done Saturday. I forgot to pick it up until almost time to leave Sat night. Not a problem I got it done before anyone else even got here. I think I'll swing by the gym when I get off this afternoon.

Got out for a short run first thing this morning before it got too hot (for me!). Eating isn't great and I don't dare get on the scales!
I'm off to my daughters soon, ready to do the childcare when she has to go into work tomorrow (end of term concerts I think), I'm sure running round after a 17 month old will use a few calories.

Well, I pretty much blew my whole day yesterday. But I'm not going to dwell on it but get back on track and go from here. Hopefully, water aerobics will help burn off some of those extra calories.

Jacque - thanks for the kind words. Your spud yesterday couldn't have been any worse than my chips and cheese at the Mexican restaurant. Let's not worry about yesterday but work harder today! That's my motto and I'm sticking to it, emoticon

Ruthann - hope the renters have vacated and you can get busy. It won't be long and you won't have to worry about it any more. I'm not too familiar with the hotels in our area but we'll be there in October so Norm and I will look around and see if we can come up with a nice place closer to us! Even for a couple days we'll have fun. Are you planning to come in Feb again?

Tammy - darn that sodium! I'm drinking lots of water myself today. I'm not sure if I'll try the bike again today after my fiasco yesterday. I can only take credit for about 1 1/2 miles. The last 1/2 mile I turned the electric on and cruised home in the pouring rain.

good evening all.

Sharon, you're doing great and will back in your 16s before you know it. I'm floating between 16s and 14s. It all depends on the cut of the pants. It's better than I've been in quite a while. I need to get busy before the 14s get too tight though. I'm aiming to get back into 10s and 12s before I'm done. Preferably 10s.

Ruthann, once your squatters are gone for good and you get out from under the stress going along with you. I bet we see your numbers start to go back down.

Tessa, I hope your stress levels lower and you have a good relaxing time on your holiday. I'm sure you'll get plenty of exercise then.

Tammy, good job on getting out and getting your exercise while it's cooler.

I went out and got my normal running for Monday done. I finally managed to get a massage today too. Went for the hot stone one today. If you like massage and have never had a hot stone, you must get one. I went ahead and scheduled myself for one in two weeks too. I need to get few consistently for a bit to get my body back in shape. I had a good breakfast and good dinner tonight, lunch not so good. I stopped at McAlesters deli and had a baked potato. They are huge and I guess I was hungry, because I ate the whole thing. I had the Ole spud, it's covered in chili, cheese and then I put on sour cream. I haven't looked to see if they have a nutrition website or not yet. Guess I need to see what the damage is. I got in a decent amount of exercise today. Shopping.
Have a good evening all.

Sharon: I am going to Mesa to see you. But us going to the swap meet wouldn't be the same unless you were there. My knees is better this year and Maybe I can keep up with you girls. Ha ha. We just want to get into a better hotel than Lorraine was in last year.
AND closer to you guys.... a couple of nights and then onto Yuma....
If you see something closer and at least a 3 star + would be good Let us know. If we had a tent we would camp outside but you know Lorraine she wants the space to buy stuff.....Ha. I think she should put a hitch on the focus and get a toe trailer to fill. Then I would have room for my stuff. Ha ha

Well just come back from the Slugs. They are all standing in the driveway looking at each other. Some are on cell phones and others just doing nothing. They look like they are hooked up to leave. I am praying that they are. I have a funny feeling that they are staying at Walmart the first night. I don't care.... I just want them out of my hair.
Tomorrow will tell the story.

Until then.....

By the way Sharon: I only had that talk to you because I CARE.... We have been about the same weight since I have known you. I didn't want it to change. Ha ha....Love ya....

Hi, friends!

I had some take-out over the weekend, so am trying to flush that sodium out of my system over the next couple of days before my weigh-in for the BLC on Wednesday.

Ruthann and SS, I can "feel" your excitement about the Mesa Swap Meet! It is always good to have something to look forward to.

Jacque, some times I wonder where the days go myself! LOL

Tessa, hello! I don't do exercise in the heat myself, either.

Once again got out early...maybe a bit more this evening when the sun goes down a bit.

Have a good day, friends!

Ruthann - No, you didn't mention you would be staying in Mesa for a couple of nights in Mesa! Yeah! That will be great. I hope you include me in your trip to the Mesa Swap Meet. I would love to go with you girls and share a laugh or two. I see on my friend feed that you lost a lb. Your weight is fluctuating due to all the stress. Consider yourself lucky not be steadily gaining. I would love to be in a Size 16 by our Custer get together. Right now I am just getting back in to my size 18's. It was when my size 20's started getting too tight that I felt the need to get my weight back under control. That and your kind but wise words!

OMG! I have been so busy I almost forgot about you guys. I am up 4 pounds over the 200 and I know after I get my life back again I will try harder. I dug out my size 16 bag of clothes and feel really good in them.

SHARON: I am so proud of you. Way to go GIRL... Just think when you head back to Mesa you will be wearing swim suits all the time. I would have said bikini's but neither one of us will ever be ready for that one. Ha..
Did I tell you that Lorraine and I will be staying a couple of nights in Mesa? She wants to hit the famous swap meet there. She wants to get a couple of those sweat shirts that you picked up for us last year. (I bet she will buy more than that.)

Well got to get moving....Later my friends. Stay strong and drink LOTS of water.....

Tess - you sound quite stressed and ready for your vacation! I hope you enjoy your time away, relax and don't worry. You will feel much better about your eating when you tackle it upon your return.

We are meeting a couple for dinner tonight at my favorite Mexican restaurant. We haven't seen this couple for over a year so I'm looking forward to catching up with them. I'll try to do more talking than eating!

Just trying to catch up.. with all sorts of things, spark included. The end of last week got so busy that I stopped tracking food (fatal) and started eating to cope.. not good.
I worked Saturday and the our DD and GD came to stay. DD & DS did a sprint triathlon on Sunday, it was a beautiful day (though far to hot to run in my opinion!) so I watched with Isla toddling around.
So much on this week that I don't feel I have time to exercise (though I know it would do me good). Looking forward to going away on Sunday, just hoping I can get everything done in time.

Sharon, good job on the loss for the week. You're going great guns. Keep it up .

I think I missed yesterday. It was a busy busy day for me at work and when I got home I was going to get on from my phone for a minute, but passed out in the chair and then gave up and went to bed. Slept in a little this morning and a other than breakfast and a walk around Target and Academy, we came home and napped the afternoon away.

Eileen - you better work harder! I lost 3 lbs at my WI yesterday so I'm ahead in the challenge with you right now but I know you can beat me yet as the month is still young! Give me some competition please.

My 5% Challenge is over this week so I'm busy thinking up a challenge for this team. I have already found a trusty assistant and together we'll get thing rolling SOON!

Well, I have been increasing my activity, but sad to say this week I haven't lost a pound. Guess I will have to work a little harder this coming week. Haven't been the best at choices though so that needs to change as well.

I love our quesadilas at home, Jacque. Are you eating yours at a restaurant? I have a couple of flour tortillas...hmmmmm.....

We had a good time with DS and DIL and Layla Dog. Sugar Dog is worn out still this morning...I bet Layla Dog is as well. emoticon

I exercised outside early today; DH and I will watch old movies today and snack - he will have meats and cheeses and crackers; I will have veggies off a veggie tray and possibly some popcorn from the microwave. He may watch movies; I may read a book!

Good job Tammy, enjoy your time with DS and DIL.

I'm going to have to start making better choices for my lunch. I've had quesadillas the last 2 days and I know they are very High in everything, including calories. My breakfast and lunch have been good, but I don't think they can make up for the lunches. I still haven't gotten as much exercise as I should this week. It's been a crazy one here at work. I haven't brought my weights or exercise bands in yet. I just have to motivate myself.
You all keep up the good work and maybe I can embarrass myself into getting busy.

Hi, friends! Our temps are slowly returning to normal for July, but it has surely been nice to not have the air conditioning running nonstop.

I bought DH and me a Marketplace Southwest Salad to split for lunch; it was quite tasty, and pretty economical at just $4 for the two of us. DS and DIL are coming for dinner and we are having a pasta dish that I make, so needed lunch to be lighter.

I was down 0.4# on Wednesday, and added to the 0.6# the week before, that's a pound and I will take it!

Have a good day!

Sea salt - unless someone has congestive heart failure...and then it is still a sodium concern. The nutritionist who came in to see my brother after he was diagnosed said that people were buying the soups which were advertised with the sea salt, thinking they were getting healthier products, and she was very particular that he should NOT think that. Of course, he isn't to have over 64 oz of fluid at all per day, and that includes "liquid" foods as well as drinks. I have particularly thought how hard that would be for me these days. I often get 10+ cups of water alone.

I will need to do a lot of flushing of sodium after today - I had a sub sandwich - which was quite lean, but it did have processed meat.... emoticon

I understand that. We eat very few processed foods at home, but like you we like to eat out and don't have the control over it there. All we can do is lots of water and flush it out. You've been doing a great job though, just keep it going.

Jacque - since Norm's heart attack we switched to sea salt or salt substitute at home so that's not a problem. It's processed foods, like lunch meat or even canned foods. I remember the dietitian also told us not to eat any boxed foods. When Norm first got home from the hospital, we threw out all that stuff but over the years they slowly work there way back in to the pantry. I don't think we eat a lot of that but on the days we do, that's when my sodium is over the limit.

Sharon, try switching to sea salt. It doesn't lower the sodium so much as give you other essential minerals you need and has less of an effect of the body. It's what I use at home, when I use any at all.

Jacque - I find sodium is the hardest one for me! If I eat any processed food at all, I pretty much shoot the day. And I hear the powers that be are trying to reduce our recommended daily allowance of sodium. I think they are trying to make us all eat more natural foods. Good job on staying in your range. One day at a time, I always say!

Tammy, I agree the time spent with a good friend outweighs the scale, so to speak. I'm glad you had a loss.

Sharon, I'm glad you are learning how to have a normal life and activities and lose weight at the same time. I'm working on it.

I have tracked for the last 2 days and am proud to say that I was in range yesterday. I think the only thing I was a little high on was fat and it wasn't much. It is so unusual for me to be in range in all catagories.

I'm here at work and will be for the duration, lol. I don't mind, most of my friends are here as well, so we couldn't do anything with anyone today anyway.
I hope you all have a safe and satisfying day, no matter how you spend it.

Tammy - I can relate. We are sitting home as well. Our kids all have fun things planned. They used to spend it with us but now they have their own families to make memories with.

We were out yesterday at dinner time and Norm asked if I could go to a Chinese Buffett. I said yes (everything in moderation, right?) and I thought I ask reasonably well and moderately. The scale did go up a little this morning but I'm sure it's a sodium gain as I didn't eat enough to gain. The food was OK but Norm and I decided it wasn't worth the calorie and sodium implosion it caused so we won't be going back any time soon. My mission today is to drink lots of water!

Happy Independence Day, friends!

SS, spaghetti? Well done! It sounds good to me, too! It may have to be on our menu here in the next few days. LOL

Tessa, your upcoming vacation sounds wonderful!

As to tracking, I used to worry about it a lot - I would stress about getting the "right" entry, etc. Used to...for me, as long as I do the best I can, it seems to work out okay anyway. With that said, I was only down 0.4# this week, but that's okay with me as well. I know that I ate with my BF the day before, and I am probably fortunate I didn't have a sodium gain. I wouldn't trade my time with my friend.

Nothing special planned for the holiday today; we didn't invite, nor were we invited. You may know that my SD has been with us since early March - she may drive to St. Louis to see her sons.

Have a good day!

I have had several days in a row that I haven't made my low calorie range and was up a pound this morning! Got to work a little harder over the next few days!! I have noticed the different entries too. I usually go for the higher one or watch my packaging and balance that calories with a variance in serving size. I prefer to have home cooking too and then I know what I have in it.

We have my DD in laws staying this week (and next probably), lovely to have them here and glad we can help out but it really disrupts life, leaving me feeling less in control.. then I eat more-been at the top or above (today) my calorie range + not enough exercise, not a good combination.

We go away in 10 days time to France then Switzerland. I should get plenty of exercise and there's a limit of food around when we are in the motorhome. Hoping I'll do fine for those 3 weeks.

Sharon, I've noticed the differences when I track too. It amazes me and I wonder where they are getting their information sometimes. I agree it is much easier to track when I cook the food myself. When we eat out it is a guessing game. I too try to err on the high side.
I'm glad that there were enough of you to have a good time in the pool today.

Well, it paid off to suit up and show up! There were 7 of us brave souls willing to get in the water and move. We had a good workout and lots of fun as well.

Jacque - I find the better I eat, the easier it is to track. It's when I make a casserole (or spaghetti, like yesterday), go out to eat or with someone's else cooking that I just have to guess sometimes. Or like my Wendy's salad that didn't have complete nutrition facts! I know I'm supposed to eat 1200 calories a day for me to lose 1 -2 lbs a week but I usually stop around 1,050-1,100 calories to allow myself room for error. Most Brand Name products have already been entered by another Sparker so those are easy. Just make sure the facts are correct. I don't know how 7 people can enter the same thing and come up with different facts. Do the manufacters change their product that often?

Tammy, it looks like you're going to have an active day.

Sharon, good job on suiting up and heading to the pool. Good job on staying in range yesterday.

I was a little over yesterday, but not much. I'm proud of me for tracking it. I've tracked my breakfast already this morning, now have to remember to track the rest of the day too. I think I'm going to try and get out and take a walk this afternoon. I have all my work done already. If I can't manage a walk, I'll bring my weights in and do some ST. I haven't done any in quite a while, so that may be what I need to do. Who knows maybe I'll get really energetic and do both, lol.

Another day and I'm still hanging in there! I was looking so forward to moving and grooving with water aerobics but it was canceled yesterday. Today doesn't look much better but I'm suiting up and going to the pool with the hopes that others will show up!

Tammy - I made spaghetti for lunch yesterday and normally I wouldn't eat that when I'm trying to lose weight but I'm going with the eat everything in moderation so I had my portion and was satisfied. Norm was surprised that I was hungry at dinner time though but I told him I ate 1/3 what he did so no wonder! I had my dinner and still came in range for the day.

Good afternoon all. It looks like everyone has reasonable goals for this month. Let's all get with them.

Tammy, I haven't managed my exercise this afternoon either. I got in and got a haircut and that was my exercise time. I'll do something tonight. Hope you enjoyed your lunch with your BF, and I'm sure DH enjoyed his pie.

Sharon, 15 lbs is doable by Sept. You've been doing great and even if you don't make it you'll be much farther than now. Keep on the way you have and you'll be good.

Eileen, good job on the loss in June. I hope you are able to get to your goal of exercise.

Ruthann, you'll do great at whatever your goal is. I hope one of your goals is to get some 'ME' time. Relax and get back on track with your line dancing.

I'm getting ready to go and do my tracking for the day. My meals have been pretty good, but unfortunately had some little apple turnovers in my desk that ended up all disappearing. At least they won't temp me tomorrow, lol.

Ruthann - you gave me the kick in the butt I needed, for sure. It also helped knowing I am going to see so many of you at the Custer Get Together. My ultimate goal is to be back in Onderland by Sept. I don't know if I can make it but as my MK Director always said, "Shoot for the moon and if you don't reach it, you'll land among the stars!" I'm shooting for another 15 lbs by Sept so it will be work but possible!

Tammy - your lunch with your BF sounds great. Nothing better than a huge salad bar. I hope you made wise choices 'cause salad bars can be calorie land mines. I'm sure DH is enjoying his pie.

Eileen - with all you had going on in June, I'm proud of your 4# loss. I would love to challenge you to a 5# loss for July. Can you beat me? I think not! Ready, set, let's go!

Jacque - it's hard to do 10 min of heart pumping exercise but you can do. Let's see how many days you can keep your streak going!

Hi, friends!

No exercise for me yet besides tying up tomato plants that I have should have tied a week or so ago. I am still watching tiny little green tomatoes not seeming to grow. The same with some little zucchini, but I have now seen some tiny yellow squash beginning.

I am meeting my BF for lunch today, then going to piano lessons, and then sometime this afternoon/evening I will try to get a bike ride in. I have made DH my "pie for the summer" to enjoy also. I try to see that he has something yummy when I meet BF...lessens my "guilt" - not really guilt - he joins us once in a while and he certainly doesn't mind my going. Then tomorrow I must get with SOMETHING - I have really not accomplished much in the past couple of weeks and hate times like that.

Have a good day!

Sharon, Way to go!! Keep it going for this month!!

With all that has been going on with me, my goal will be to go from one 10min. walk to two per day if I can. I will continue to try to get into my low calorie range and drinking my 12+ glasses of liquids. I am not focusing on weight but did lose 4# in June & would love to see that continue as well!!.

My July goal is to continue with my fitness goal of 1500 minutes; I like to eat too well emoticon , but I want the scale to get back down. I am enjoying my biking time, as well, so it's a win/win!

Sharon, great job for meeting your June goal of tracking and I'm sure you'll do well for July as well. You've really gotten motivated since you've gotten back to Mi. Keep up the good work.

Tessa, I agree, you should be able to get the 2 lbs down before you go. Enjoy yourself in Switzerland. I'd love to come over there some day and see the beautiful mountains. I would like to visit Finland as well. It is where my maternal grandparents were both born.

I don't think I'm going to do a weight goal for this month. For some reason or other I seem to submarine myself when I set a weight goal. I am going to set my July goal at making sure I get in at least 10 mins a day doing some sort of exercise. I don't mean my office daily work, I mean actual raise the heart or strength work. I have some hand weights I'm going to take into my office. I am setting another goal of tracking. I am setting a goal of making sure I track at least 5 days a week. .

Tessa - I know you told us about your upcoming trip but please refresh our memories. Where will you be traveling and how long will you be away from home? I think you can easily lose the couple lbs you want to before you leave. However, I have a difficult time when I'm traveling with my eating. I hope you do better than me!

My goal is to lose, I'd like to drop 2 pounds before we go away in 2 weeks time (then more after that).
I know once we are away I'll eat OK (mostly), exercise and go to bed at a sensible time!

July is already here and summer is truly here. Swim suit season and shorts. Are you happy with the way you feel when you put them on? I'm not and I'm determined to do something about it.

June was productive for me I met all my goals and dare to even put more in writing for July!

I am proud to have tracked every day in the month of June and my goal is to keep that streak going and make it through July. If I do, that means I will be mindful of my water intake and drink my 8 or more glasses of water. I am going to try to lose at least 5 lbs for July as well.

That's mine - what will you work for in July?
