i love this show. i record it on our dvr and watch it later. i also save each episode so i can go back and watch them. it is very motivational to see other people going through the same as i am, and in 6 weeks see how they have changed. it keeps me going and that is one of the reasons why i have my own 6 week challenge going on. i am on day 5 of it, and i am doing good. i challenged myself to lose 30 pounds. i am really looking forward to seeing other episodes cause this is great for everyone to see. it is not all just about the eating that gets people unhealthy there is usually some thing deep down inside that got people to that place to begin with.

never give up on your dreams, cause they can come true!!

I live in the Philippines and the show is not being shown here. I download it using torrents. :)

I love the episode 8, Alvarez Family. I find David Jr adorable :)

Tuesday nights are tough for me to fight for the TV, I usually win with Hell's Kitchen but lose out to Fly Fishing Tuesdays to my DH.. Has anyone found any good sites to watch it online? I am in Canada so i can't use the NBC website or certain ones like that :(

I loved Jillian's interaction with the kids. I liked seeing that side to her. Although I respect her tough, drill sergeant-like personality in the gym, it was very refreshing, a nice change from her normal self.

I thought this past show was more realistic. The wife lost 17lbs and the husband lost a little over 30lbs I believe. That sounds more "normal" and healthy.

It's on here on Tuesdays @ 7:00 - usually a busy night for our fam, but I LOVE the show. I see some of you talking about watching it online. Where do you go to watch it? We don't have Tivo or DVR or even a recorder at home.

Talking about enriched bleached flour:

"what do you think they bleach it with?"
"Bleach?"
"wanna go do laundry and have a cup together?"

This is all it took for my mother to toss it out! I swear for months I've been trynna figure out how to sneak in wheat flour.

As far as the huge amount of weight ppl lose (both BL & Losing It), I would think it's mostly water weight in the very beginning. Additionally as they say, the heavier you are, the more calories you'll burn. These people are in the "obese" criteria and if they exercise that much with their excess weight, you can bet they'll lose about 10 lbs a week. I wish I lost that much weight in a week...then I'd get to my goal weight in a week and a half! lol Wishful thinking...I'd be lucky to lose 2 lbs in a week.

Im a fan of the show too. Not only are the stories and weight loss inspiring, there are usually a couple of life lessons thrown in to boot. I have one Jillian Michaels DVD that I bought and she also has some workouts that I do that are ON Demand if you have Comcast Cable. She has this yoga one and I thought... its yoga cant be as hard as her usual stuff. Boy was I wrong, I was sore in places that i didn't know existed. She is totally awesome though...crazy but awesome. emoticon

I am also enjoying the show. It is amazing that these folks let JM get into their heads. She can break down anybody! I am beginning to wonder if the families are told they will get $50K if they meet their goals. That may explain why they work so hard. I can't imagine just the thought of seeing JM again in 6-8 weeks can motivate folks who had such terrible habits.

I also think the weight loss has been high. I can see these folks losing a lot the first week, just from eating well. If you listen to JM's recordings of her radio show, she does know lots of tricks to help people lose weight quickly, and how to weigh in effectively. Now a gal from season 3 of TBL is talking about how they were taught to dehydrate before a weigh in, and other shenanigans. So there are probably some technhiques us mere weight loss mortals don't know about. :)

Nice talking with other show fans!

I really liked the Northern family! They were so sweet - and the dad was so cute (crying and being so loving to his wife). Plus, the weight they lost, although amazing, was not as unrealistic as last week.

I just saw the 4th episode, the Northern family. Cried my eyes out. I can definitely relate to the father about giving up on life and losing self esteem. Pushes me to exercise right now. lol.

I agree-74 pounds in 8 weeks is so unrealistc..even at her starting weight. That's the sad thing about BL and Losing It...lots of times their weight loss is unrealistic so I think it may discourage people when they aren't losing more than 5-10 pounds in a week..that just isn't healthy!!

I also think that it's unrealistic to lose 74lbs in 8 weeks. but I'm also thinking that they have help from Jillian (the trainer) to nutritionists or other professionals who all closely monitors their progress. The mother did mention a "process" that works. She must be talking about a program specific to her.

Okay, so for the June 15th episode - did anyone else feel that 74lbs in 8 weeks was really unrealistic?

I'm not saying she didn't lose it - I'm sure she did and the show isn't lying. But don't you think that it's sending an incorrect message and portraying unrealistic expectations to the general public? Spark recommends 1-2 pounds lost per week and the mother lost almost 10 pounds a week. And the daughters lost close to 4 a week. I dunno, it doesn't seem healthy to me. Although neither does eating bacon grease so I guess they're not any *worse* off.

The show is not available in my country yet. But I downloaded the first 2 episodes and love it! I even got my sister hooked. I was crying all though out! It was very touching. I hope the contestants continue their journey towards health even after the 6 week period. :)

Last night's episode was so good. It was so nice to see that the mom had changed enough to tough out the 5K at the end of the show even with a bum knee... a far cry from the woman in the beginning of the show who was afraid to exercise for fear of dying!

I also liked how Jillian said she didn't want to see young girls have the goal of losing weight but rather have the goal of getting fit and healthy.

I'm not sure about what stations everyone is watching, but I missed it on the first day it was on. I was kinda bummed, and then MAGICALLY it was on the next day as a repeat at a much earlier time. Maybe check your listings and see if your local stations are doing the same?

I wanted to watch it, but 10 is too late for me! I think the regular slot is Tuesday at 8pm, but that doesn't work too well for me either. I am hoping I can catch it OnDemand or on the web. I find Jillian motivating in every way. I have even dug up her old podcasts.

I watched it - think it is interesting that is a well balanced show...she deals with fitness, a bit, nutrition, a bit, and life issues, a bit.
