pinkcat -- good for you staying healthy! that's so exciting that your baby is old enough to "get" christmas this year. it's my son's first christmas, and it's fun, but he's only 10 months and doesn't have a clue. i can't wait until he's old enough to get really excited!

I lost 78 pounds with SparkPeople and I've gained most of it back because I didn't make a PERMANENT lifestyle change; I'm back because I know the support here is an essential component to success. I'm practicing the EAT TO LIVE lifestyle and feeling healthier and happier every single day.

Hi Everyone!

Am I the only one having crazy issues with eating lately? With snacks and treats everywhere in my office, and a ridiculous appetite that came out of nowhere, my weight is sneaking back up again.

ARGH!!!!

I'm so glad that my vacation starts on Friday, so I can try to regroup for the new year!

HI MJA716

I really want to teach my baby sing language. I once came accross a series of videos taht I really wanted to buy, but the time wasn't right... and now I forgot the name of that series of DVDs and I can't seem to be able to find them online. Do you have a DVD system that works for you?

Hi Ladies! I've been a member of this team since October of 2008 when my first daughter was born, but I haven't been active in it for a while now. I just had my second daughter on the 1st of December and now I'm back to work off the leftover weight!! I look forward to getting to know you guys!
I read a couple posts and I can't say I know what a fitbit is, but last Christmas my husband got me a gowear fit arm band that I wore like crazy and that taught me so much about how many calories it really takes to get my body through each day. Plus it kept track of my sleep habits and quality and boy was that enlightening!

And I'm broken down to nothing,
but I'm still holding on to the one thing:
You are God and you are strong
When I am weak.

hi IDALIA7981 welcome back.

to set a profile pic go to your sparkpage, click on edit my sparkpage, click on edit photo gallery and find the picture on there you want and below the pic it says set as profile pic

I have had my fitbit for 4 days now but I did all my food tracking for the week on their site..I did a report last night and it told me how bad I was that week. Granted I was sick and not really caring about calories and I did not work out.

The report highlighted some of the unhealthy foods I ate that week and totaled them up....like for instance I like to eat a few oreos and milk at night...well those oreos totaled up to 1100 calories for the week! eeks!

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

Hello everyone... it has been a while since the last time I checked in and tha is because I went back to my full time job after being on maternity leave for a couple of months. Now I have a break for a couple of weeks. I must say that I am very happy with my progress. I'm 6 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight of 122. And some of my clothes pre-baby are starting to fit and it feels GRRRREEEEEEAAATTT. But sometimes I get frustrated and it feels like it will never happen, the total pregnancy weight loss...

Anyway... I can't figure out how to upload a photo to the side thing of the chat, so that you can all see my picture. Can anyone help? Thanks...

I can relate Gaby, I am also a teacher and I work at a pretty crazy school, with really crazy kids. It feels a little out of control sometimes. Hang in there... at least that stress of work helps to lose osme of the pounds, at least it does for me.

I showed my husband my stats this morning, now he wants one I like how it shows you how much you have burned so far today vs how many calories (you input the calories)

Their food tracker is faster to input than sparkpeople which is nice because I get slack on here since sometimes its hard to find the item I want or i have to manually put stuff in all the time.

Anyone can start a food/activity tracking account on there for free but they charge for advanced reports

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

got my fitbit in the mail yesterday..oh my I LOVE this thing! definately worth the 3 month backorder wait!

got sick again from my daughter, she has an ear infection and my sinuses are congested..on a 5 day antibiotic and today is day 3 so hopefully I will be back to normal soon!

This fitbit has to be just about the coolest thing...it makes getting active like a game...can I beat my previous day's score? LOL You can also invite friends and compete against their score too

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

PINKCAT, hope you were able to get caught up on your sleep as well as calm your nerves after that scare with your house alarm. Hopefully it was just a false alarm! Oh, and congrats on your Fitbit! I love mine! Just one warning...don't let it go through the washer. It really doesn't like that very much.

Susi, thank you for reminding me of the best decision I ever made...leaving the corporate world and becoming a WAHM! LOL! Hope you made it through your day okay and enjoyed your workout!

Kathy, congrats on your size 8! I look forward to that day and I'm not giving up until I get there!!!

We had a (excuse my language) really CRAPPY week but it's looking up. Funny how really crappy weeks help you to appreciate the important things in your life and help you to reprioritize.

Good morning! I'm tired this morning, but what's new? :)

Exciting news though - I'm fitting back into an old pair of size 8 pants!! Woot! This baby weight was much easier to take off than I thought it would be. It seemed like it was much harder before I got pregnant last year.

Kathy

Good morning, ladies!

How is everyone doing today? I'll be having what I like to call "spreadsheet day" at work, reviewing expenses on the different funds I'm responsible for in my organization. (Fun, no?)

After a day chained to my desk, I'm hoping to sneak in a workout when I get home. Fingers crossed!

morning ladies

I am so happy that my 3-month back ordered fitbit is finally getting processed!

On the other hand I am also very tired this morning. Our house security alarm went off last night and after we checked everything we didnt find anyone. But it sure made going back to sleep difficult! Then our baby was up at 430am and kept dropping her pacifier so I had to keep getting back up!

days like this I am glad to work at home to try to get another hour of sleep after my 2 year old is sent to preschool!

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

Thanks Susiq! I feel like I'm starting to come out of my depression, which is a wonderful feeling. The best thing about becoming a WAHM is that I have been able to focus on me and my family and figure out exactly what makes us happy so I can identify our priorities and what I need to do to keep us that way!

Working at home -- or, let's face it, doing anything with young children around -- is so much harder, Mary Jane. I hope you're cutting yourself some slack as you figure out what works best for you!

Pinkcat, feel better soon! You've had a bad stretch lately, it's got to end eventually!

Thanks ladies! We worked out last night when we signed up then we all went again today after we picked up my son from school. Yay!

For those of you that don't know my history, I left my corporate job in July of this year to become a WAHM. This was a HUGE change for me because I had just celebrated 20 years with my company in March. Well, long story short, I have discovered that being a WAHM is 100 times harder than going to work at an office job (at least for me it is) and the switch has been a huge adjustment for me, in so many different ways!

PINKCAT, so sorry to hear about your nanny and that you're not feeling well. What will you do about childcare? Do you teach your 2yo any baby signs at all? We have been teaching them to Carly and one of the things I have read about teaching kids sign language is that it can virtually eliminate the terrible twos since it helps kids communicate their needs better. Here are a couple websites to check out:

Just do one sign at a time and before you know it you knows lots of them!

that is awesome Mary Jane!

My throat is starting to get sore as of last night bleh! I guess I better get used to it since my 2 year old is in school.

Speaking of which, she is being such a pain this week. Refusing to nap, waking up in the middle of the night for a drink, whining all the time and on top of that I lost my nanny that I share with the neighbor..not sure if it will temporary or permanent. something called fifths disease is going around in the preschool our girls go to and she is pregnant and its bad for her to exposed to it. So she is limited her daughter's contact with other kids

Hey ladies! I'm happy to report that hubby & I joined a gym today. Yay! I thought I could do it on my own at home (we have a treadmill and weight bench/set in the garage) but I'm just not doing it. My depression has been kicking my butt and I need to get myself moving. Hubby and I worked out together tonight and the kids had a WONDERFUL time in the kids area.

nice work on getting close to your goal GRIDMICHE and glad you are healing faster Kathy!

There definately seems to be a correlation between checking into sparkpeople and doing workouts.

My goal for December is to check in everyday this month. I don't log my food in on this site I use another but I'll make sure to log my water and fitness!

Anyone else have any December goals?

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

Since I hurt my back Thanksgiving day, I gave myself a break this week. I hate that I had to but I didn't want to re-injure it and am quite proud of myself. The last time I injured it in this manner (it's a disk problem in my low back), it took 4 or more weeks to heal. I saw a chiropracter that time, he gave me good advice and this time it healed a LOT quicker. So I should be able to hit the treadmill again beginning Monday (and maybe hit the road this weekend instead of doing videos at home).

Take Care,
Kathy

Good morning ladies. Had a rough night last night. The kids realized that Chelsea is gone and not coming back. Lots of tears and happy memories. I think it was good for all of us to huddle together on the bed and cry together.

Yesterday was Dec. 1st and I recommitted myself to eating better and losing weight. I didn't get a chance to work out but I did a noticeable job of eating better. When you're really paying attention to what you eat you really notice how much stuff you would normally pick up and put in your mouth without even thinking about it. Yikes! So far so good yesterday and today though! I've even had two pieces of fruit already and it's not even noon!!

Hope you are all doing well!

Mary Jane, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat! Pets are such a huge part of our lives, it really is like losing a family member. And I'm sure she knew how much you loved her, even with the addition of a husband and kids.

Kathy, thank goodness your husband is ok!!

PinkCat -- Good work at Thanksgiving! I've totally derailed lately with exercise too, just hoping to get back on track once I'm feeling healthy again. (It has to happen eventually, right??)

sorry to hear about your rough days mary jane and kathy. Our pets become family members so it is natural to be sad when they pass.

I will admit that I have not worked out as much during the last few weeks, granted my house was sick for 2 of those weeks and then we had thanksgiving...what a way to get off track! I haven't weighed and I'm not going to until I'm ready for a smaller pair of jeans. I'm tired of getting frustrated with a silly number on the scale!

anyway looking forward to tomorrow's workout!

Thanksgiving was great, I did not over eat at all. I did have a piece of my cheesecake receipe that I modified to get it down to 200 calories and low fat low carb high protein.

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

I'm sorry MaryJane! Kitties and puppies are very much a part of our lives and you have every right to mourn her loss. I've "been there, done that" more times than I care to count and it's never easy.

I had a bit of a rough day too - my husband got into a car accident this afternoon. Unfortunately it was his fault but he is okay. I'm just "glad" that he was the only one in his car at the time.

Take Care,
Kathy

Hey ladies. I had a rough day today. My sweet Chelsea cat died last night. I feel kind of silly getting upset about losing a pet when I know that people have a lot more serious things going on in their lives but I can't help but feel sad. I got Chelsea as a Christmas present back in 1992 and she has been the one constant in my life for the past (almost) 18 years. I'm so worried that I didn't give her enough love and attention after my hubby and kids came into our lives. I hope she knows how much she was loved. Rest In Peace sweet Chelsea. You will be missed very much.

Exactly... we can only do better next time. I'll remember this for future holidays, though!

I actually run into this problem on weekends too. I need to start planning weekend meals too, and making sure I have healthy, quick meal options around.

How is everyone's post-holiday recovery going? I'm trying to get organized for the coming week... so hard after having a few days off!

That's exactly what I did SusiQ...skipped lunch then snacked and snacked and snacked until dinner...which was supposed to be at 2 pm but wasn't until 4 pm. Ugh! Oh well, can't change it now. Tomorrow is another day!

I ended up chasing DD around the table, so I actually didn't overeat too much at dinner. That's one way of doing it, I suppose!

My problem this year was that we had dinner too late. I snacked throughout the day instead of having one meal that would have just gotten me through until dinner. Stupid!! I'll make sure not to repeat that mistake at Christmas!

I ate way too much the last 2 days!! Ugh - I've even had people over today to help get rid of the leftovers.

Stick me with a fork, I'm done!

PINKCAT, that is so cool about your GMIL!

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I have to admit, I ate WAY too much. I was so unbelievably stuffed when I got home. At least I didn't have anything else to eat for the rest of the day! I hope that counts!

Hubby and I have been looking around at different gyms to join. We are looking for bare minimum basic memberships that include child care rather than a gym with all the "bells & whistles". Budget is tight right now!

SO glad I live in a state that doesn't list weight on our licenses!! When I lived in a state that did, I generally just gave my goal weight. emoticon

So neat about your GMIL! Makes Thanksgiving a little extra special!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!!

This is a tough time of year for sure with colds, holidays, etc

I think I have a new goal..

My drivers license renewal is this July 2011..my new goal is to not have to lie about my weight when I renew the license! LOL

You know what is kind of neat? My Grandmother in law is big into geneology and found out that one of her ancestors came to America on the Mayflower!! How interesting is that?

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

I'm hoping to break out of this plateau soon too... I'm strategizing for when the Cold of Doom finally departs, so I can really start exercising again. (Hopefully SOON!)

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Enjoy!!

Good morning ladies. I woke up at 3:30 am and couldn't get back to sleep so I am up and on the computer. This post nasal drip is killing me. As soon as I sit up it clears up but when I lay down it gives me such a bad sore throat. UGH! Guess I'll be looking for some decongestant today to help me out. I just researched on the internet and it says to stay well hydrated too and I'm not doing a very good job of that.

Kathy & PINKCAT, you guys are rockin' the weight loss! Good job! Keep it up, you are the inspiration for the rest of us!

Have a great day ladies and don't stress too much about preparing for Thanksgiving! Remember what the day is about and take a few moments to pause throughout the day and think about all the wonderful blessings that you have to be thankful for!
