Hi BIGBABYDOLL. Congratulations on getting rid of the chocolate cake. I know how you feel. I hate to throw food away, but I've done that before too. When it is no longer there I stopped thinking about it. There have been times when I didn't get rid of the food in question, and I ended up eating it all plus I started to binge eat also. All of the hard work I had done that day went down the tubes.

I'm thankful for my motivation today, and will gladly accept it one at a time.

The chocolate cake someone brought over kept calling my name when I was feeling down so I plugged my ears and when my son came to visit I had him throw it out without me even going into the kitchen. Funny but it stopped calling me the moment I knew it was not still here. emoticon I am working through emotional eating a day at a time but I am doing really well for the last 6 weeks and that is something I am really proud of. Thanks for sharing and helping me feel safe to share.

ATHLETELORI, I know very well how you feel when you want to eat everything in sight. I've been a compulsive over eater for a very long time...and a binge eater as well. I'm so thankful for my good days because it lets me realize that I CAN DO THIS. emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry about your friend. I hope things improve for her soon.

When my husband and I got married, I started eating more junk. He works in a warehouse and works weird hours, so he'd come home and just eat a ton, and I would join him. Since, I wasn't doing the heavy labor, my weight just skyrocketed. Then I started having sleep problems and things got even worse. Now, I am getting back into a healthy routine, but there are times, especially when I'm tired, that I just want to eat everything in sight.

Cultivate motivation.

Hi Lorrie. I'm sorry about your friend. I know exactly what you mean by relationships in our lives that drives up our compulsion to over-eat. My relationship is with my 3 year old grandson. He is adorable and I love him dearly, but he is a handful that I can no longer keep up with like I should. I've been keeping him all day while my daughter is at work, but frankly I'm glad next week he will be going to nursery school. When he leaves me in the evenings, I'm so keyed up its all I can do to keep from eating every thing in site...LOL.

Hi Team,
I met my dear friend for lunch today to celebrate her birthday at Panera for salads. During the conversation I was so saddened by her life situation. I knew she was going through extended rough times but today I sensed her being desperate and hopeless. She needs a significant amount of money and is disabled so can't work and hasn't received approval for disability support. There aren't any ideas coming for what I could do to help other than offering my friendship. It wasn't much of a celebration but just a life journey moment. After I dropped her off, I fought a strong compulsion to eat - ANYTHING (right after having lunch - no bueno).

Are there relationships in your lives that drive up your compulsion to eat?

Great news on your weight goal progress CarolSAN3! I wish I was seeing the same range of results. All my efforts seem to not result in a change to the scale. There are some changes in the body composition i.e. fat converted to lean body mass; however, I want that scale to show pounds lost! I'm going to evaluate my SP program and make some more tweaks to see if that works.

Choir sounds like a ton of fun. I love to sing, but I stick to singing in the car and in the shower!

I did a lot of cleaning and chores around the house today, so I gave myself the day off from exercise. I'm just getting back to exercise, so I don't want to over do it. Plus, my feet hurt today.

Thanks for the water walking tip Favall. I love water aerobics but I can't get to the pool like I want to right now because I'm temporarily without a car. I like to go to the gym to do my water aerobics. The pool here at my condo is nice, but I feel as if I have an audience when I am doing water aerobics there. I'm too shy for that.

I remember your posts from a while ago mentioning a goal of hiking. How awesome that you were able to do more than you expected. That is only due to your hard work! It sure sounds like a great vacation.

Transition (or change) times are part of life. Its great that we are learning how to cope through those times while still making healthy lifestyle choices. Best wishes to you on the start of this new phase.

Best wishes on the walking program. Its great that you are challenging yourself. Water walking is great for arthritis. The water resistance builds the muscles and easily stretches the ligaments and connective tissue without the pressure of gravity.

I am getting back online after being gone for a while. I just had two weeks of reward for the changes I've made. We went to Gatlinburg, TN and had a great vacation with family and then friends. My goal was to be able to do the Clingman's Dome trail. It is 1/2 mile, but very steep. I did it early in the time and enjoyed it so much we went on longer hikes to waterfalls a couple of times. Also, I went tubing in the river and I wouldn't have been able to use an innertube like that even a year ago. And at our favorite picnic spot I was able to climb up and down the rocks and wade in the freeeeeezing mountain spring/river. It was beautiful and I was able to do so many more things! My next goal is to be able to go white water rafting there. I think I could do it weight wise now, but I wouldn't feel comfortable yet.

We went to the Bush Beans visitor center and had a great, free time there. I even got on the scale and weighed to see how many beans I weigh. I posted a picture of that. Another goal is to weigh less beans than my husband. :) I did have part of a piece of Pinto Bean pecan pie at their cafe and it was delicious.

Vacation was great with lots of activities and came back a few ounces lighter. I tried to eat normally two meals a day and then branch out to new things once a day either at a restaurant or on stuff my family made. My brother made homemade fried chicken and waffles which was new to me and I enjoyed having the freedom to eat that one meal and the balance to not go crazy.

It took almost as long to lose these last 50 pounds as it did to lose the first 100. But I feel like my focus has expanded and I'm not needing as much time or brain power to be focused on eating, etc because it's more natural. I think now is another transition time for me as kids go back to school and my college son moved back in for school so I think it will be a season of more health focus. But I always want to be careful to have it be a secondary focus. If I'm healthy but do nothing else in my life, what good is that?!! I want to be healthier so I can do MORE and contribute MORE.

It's wonderful to see some familiar posts even after being gone so long!

My blood sugar dropped last night. It started me to binge eat. Ariff!! I was doing so well before that happened. Today I plan to stay on top of it by checking my blood sugar at least four or five times. I can't afford for it to drop too low....I end up getting too sick.

Yeah, that does sounds yummy Favall. I'm loving my stir-fry veggies. I'm making a stir-fry veggie practically everyday recently. I especially like to stir-fry the cabbage and broccoli with mushrooms with bite size pieces of chicken mixed in.

Mother in law stress over! YEAH! Back at work for the afternoon and looking forward to Zumba and some cycling before watching my 3 grandgirls tonight. Dinner will be Chef Meg's Parmesean Chicken with a Caprizio salad (extra greens) - saw the video and had to make it myself.

Good evening ladies. Looks like everyone is getting along well today. I've been absent from the team for a while because I have a terrible computer. I have only been able to visit one team per day so I've been going to the one where I am a team leader. I'm using my grandson's labtop now, but I hope to finally have my own computer fixed next week.

I've been up and down with my food plan. Sometimes I have a good day and sometimes it pretty bad. I believe I am on the right track right now, and I pray that I am blessed with the ability to stay there. At least I have a good feeling about this. Hope all of you will be blessed as well.

Gopintos, I saw a cute picture on FB with title, Who's happy for school to start? I showed the mom jumping for joy and the 5 kids next to her drooping. Ha Ha! Totally understand the happy release of children to the teachers. Its pretty common for parents (Moms) to home school so they don't get that break.

I'm feeling back on track and it is a relief. Changes to my routine cause stress and has other negative affects like not sleeping. Thankfully, the normal pattern is restored!

How's everyone doing? Crazy busy here but hopefully will calm down a little bit here in a few days. Kids back to school - emoticon

I use to be sad when my kids went back to school, and very happy when they were out for the summer, but as I get older........... and I keep my niece (10) and grandson (8) who some days get along like cats and dogs.... emoticon let's just say that I am ready for school to start. emoticon

Struggling a bit. Different food and less workouts while taking care of my 3 grandgirls this week. Executing the preplan food tactic using lower calorie range. Adding daily walks in our steep hills. Hoping these actions get me back on track.

Hi Term,
Yesterday, we hosted my son's 32 birthday pool party. It was a success AND I served only healthy delisious food, except for the requested Oreo ice cream cake. My son said, "Mom, I can't quit eating and its ony vegetables!". Ha Ha! That was my devious plan. I followed my own food plan perfect for the day. There is a lot into hosting a party for 40 poeple. I know I burned some calories. All in all, it was FUN!

We only had one child and he is such a blessing. I am grateful to celebrate him.

Exhausted from up and downing in this TOP TEN. I reached my top weight again and then kept yoyoing from it to ten down.

Finally I've lost that 1 pound that takes me into lighter territory. It felt so good to see that number on the scale. It renewed my will and courage to do this again.

Will I make the 25 pounds this quarter? NOT sure. But I am sure that I've lost 11 pounds so far! And while I still have masses to lose that 'release' was MASSIVE. Whoohoo.

Hi everyone! I am in for this 25 lbs this quarter challenge too. I am on track to do it, and just need to keep up the momentum. Will be doing lots of traveling for work over the next 5 months, which is going to add some challenges for losing weight, but I am committed and I am going to keep doing this for me. I get frustrated sometimes when I think of how LONG it is going to take me to lose the rest of this weight (7-8 more months on top of the 5 months I have already been working hard at it...), but then I have to remind myself that the time is going to pass anyway. I can either be fit and strong and slim and healthy, or I can still be fat and miserable. I choose option "A".

Hi All. Sorry I haven't been around much. We have had so much going on. I keep getting more clients, everyone wants us to go out with them, we've had company from out of town, plus my daughter was home the same weekend. I just want to hit the pause button and get everything to stop or slow down.

Exercise hasn't been too regular these last couple of weeks. Tonight, though, I got home and was exhausted. My husband wanted to go play golf. I said not tonight, I was tired, so he said he was going without me. Of course he knew that would get me up to go with him and it did.

Another thing I'm proud of that I did today: my client wanted to go get a hot dog. I took her to a place called Al's French Frys. (I didn't misspell it---that's how it's spelled.) Anyway, they have been there since I was a little girl. They have the best fries. I did not get anything to eat! My excuse to my client was that I would be going home in 1/2 hour and would have dinner with my hubby. My husband couldn't believe it.

I upped my walking today from 28 to 34 minutes. Yeah ME!

I ate a big spinach salad last night with supper and ... no evening snacking.

Day 7 and doing good.

FAVALL thank you for the offer to email you directly ... I just don't know how yet. I took Aromasin for a year (suppose to take it for five) but sleeping was so minimal I chose just this last month to leave it off ... for now? for ever?

Today was a good day. My original plan was to exercise six days a week - taking Sundays off.

I over ate popcorn last night but didn't walk today just as planned so I wouldn't feel punished. So far, so good. I ate tons of veggies for lunch and supper.

Change your mind and the rest will follow is my new mantra.

Happy Saturday! Busy day here. We set up an obstacle course for the trail challenge here at my place. Just to practice. Then the real challenge will be next weekend. Saddle club deal. I rode my horse on it the other day, and he did great but I won't enter as I need to help out that day.

We also have a company picnic today. ugghh. Oh well, a few pounds lighter than the last one! emoticon

Mtn_kitten - You've placed your welfare in worthy hands with your husband who will not loose sight of you.... ever and will always handle your interest better than any boss.

I have a past with breast cancer, too. Feel free to email me, if you have questions or just want to chat with someone who knows the landscape. So glad your health is better and that you are handling the emotional food challenges under stress.

The weekend away with DH was nixed but we will get in 2 long day trip bike rides. Saturday - 50 miles on the Iron Horse Trail and on Monday - 75 miles on the Silverado Trail in Napa. The weather is going to cooperate and remain in mid-80's. Let's see if there is a drop on the scale....

Sounds like your head is in the right place. I haven't "dieted" either. It is all lifestyle change. Even when I followed the FMD plan, she said diet stood for Did I Eat Today. And it was alot of food, never hungry.

I found my new lifestyle worked for 60lbs but I was stuck and needed to tweek it a little more in order to find my groove again, but I have never felt like I was "on a diet", so there was never a time that I wanted to quit or give up.

And given my family history, I knew that I had to use food as medicine. Good medicine, not bad... so I try to make sure I eat good medicine now to help me to try to prevent some of the preventable. :)

Anyways, having your head on straight is very important, so it sounds like you are well on your way!

Thanks for the koodoos ... breast cancer was hard enough without all the $#@! that went along with it. We still get bill collectors calling the house asking for money. I have to reminded them that bill was paid on this date, with this check number, for this amount. Yes, check cleared the bank. Yes, we already sent you and the vendor a photo copy of everything. No, I won't send you another check for holding until YOU have cleared this all up. Sheeeeeeze!

I walked first thing this morning. YEAH me!

I have decided not to DIET. The restrictions and deprivation made me feel punished. I am an old Weight Watchers (I was even a leader for seven years) and believe in counting food groups and several times a week eating something "just coz I want it". I did this all of last year (2012) while going through the breast cancer, root canal, double knee replacement. I lost 58 pounds! YEAH!! The main rule was I had to sit still and pay attention and enjoy what I was eating and had to stop when I was full (not when the food was gone).

So what happened? This year they thought the cancer had come back! My boss decided to grow a third eye. I lost sight of myself (geeze).

So now ... the cancer scare was a BBQ hematoma from an unattended infection during the radiation process. I am a woman who speaks up but is not always heard.

I retired. After 40 years of working it was time. No more overbearing boss. I spend my day with my beloved hubby.

I have my eyes on me and what I want.

WARNING: Do not get in my way but PLEASE join me for the adventure.

MTN_KITTEN You are doing super fantastic! Sorry you had to go through all the old emotions emoticon but sounds like you handled it well. I tend to clean house when I get upset. (I try not to let things upset me, therefore my house isn't as clean as it should be emoticon ) Or when the internet goes down, DH can tell because I clean house ha

Anyways, you are doing great! emoticon

FAVALL bummer on the vacation. We have a lot of Stay-cations, and it is nice to relax and unwind sometimes. emoticon But I know that isnt the same and can be disappointing when you are looking forward to getting away.

OCLISSA I have been at this for awhile, and when I was stalled for a long time, the Fast Metabolism Diet plan got me out of my funk. It was easy, as it was the same foods I was already eating, but by just eating certain foods at certain times on certain days, just made all the difference. For the most part, it is calorie and carb cycling. emoticon

I try to eat real foods, not much processed, cut out sugar, breads, pastas - for the most part. And fast food gone. That doesnt mean I dont from time to time, but my day to day is eating good food. I just dont keep junk in my house. I focus on good carbs which looks like a low carb because veggies don't really count (at least I don't count them) since veggies provide only enough glucose for their own digestion. I do refeeds where I intentionally have more carbs and more calories, at least once a week, just to keep things guessing, or like sweet tators in the meal after a good workout. I was low carb, low calorie for a very long time, and things screeched to a halt, so now I keep an eye on things like that and make sure to shake it up now and then. I also make sure I get plenty of protein, and I keep my fats to health fats.

Bummer on the cancelled vaca ... can you and hubby do something else for fun?

Today I got a phone call that could have derailed me. But I was calm but assertive (I love that phrase from the Dog Whisperer).

Long story short, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 18 months ago and the administrative part of things were not handled well. This cause me a lot of aguish and confusion that has continued. I stated my position of the details as I saw them, they shared theirs in a 45 minute conversation. They apologized.

After reliving everything, I was emotional. But ... I did not eat the house down!

Welcome to newcomers!

I've found the SP Diabetes food program to be easy to follow, very healthy, and effective. Mostly I eat what my holistic doctor outlines. LOTS of veggies, good protien and fiber.

My DH and I had planned a 5 day away for "vacation" that just got cancelled. I'm bummed.Trying to stick with my program and not derail for emotional response. going to my regular workouts, and that helps a lot. You know what they say.... you improved mood is only 1 workout away!

Hi, I'm new here and working on losing 25 lbs from Q3 (2013) to Q3 (2014) for a total of 100 lbs by next year. I'm working out the eating plan still, and starting to exercise. What is everyone doing for the nutrition portion? On any weight loss plans?

Woohoo ... I kept my promise to myself and got up this morning and immediately walked on my treadmill for my scheduled 28 minutes of interval walking. Yesterday was tuff but today I got so involved with the jammin' music that forgot to change the speed back down one of the cycles.
