The bag of flour (mine does) should have the nutritional information on it. Take how much flour, sugar, oil, egg, etc and add it all up. Then divide it by how many cookies are made. That's how we do it.

I opt for whole, organic foods as much as possible; and most of my meals are meatless. When I do eat meat it is almost always fish or occasionally chicken/turkey. I track my food here on Spark to stay within a certain calorie range.

Yes that is what I do for meals but for snack foods like my high fiber cookies etc. that are baked is where I can't get it figured out.

I calculate every individual thing I put into something. 2 tablespoons of this and a cup of that, you just have to write down everything involved.

I use a small kitchen scale. It helps me a lot to recognize what a serving size is.

I had been making nearly double portions and so my calories were way off. I'm from a generous family, you see.

I have Celiac Sprue and have no clue which diet or how to diet. The big issue I have is I have to cook everything and don't know how to calculate the calories for a homemade recipe. So I just watch the amount of food I eat but I am going no where fast.

The Body For Life plan worked really well for me. In 2004 and 05 I lost 40#. I kept it off until May '08. Mainly because I changed jobs and it made me very very happy. I eat more when I'm happy.

I felt it was a really good diet for me. It made sense for me and I was able to stick to it.

Which is the biggest thing you should look for in a diet. If you can do the type of eating and you actually like it, then it's for you. If you dislike the food on the diet or "can't wait until . . ." then it's probably not right for you. My whole family liked the meals and so that helped keep me motivated.

Good luck with that! I actually like dieting using the low carb method. I eat carbs for breakfast..either whole grain toast with peanut butter or oatmeal. The rest of my day is low carb..going carbless after 2ish. I also have incoporated weight resistance since last august..(hence my little icon).. and I must say I LOVE it. I do cardio each day and alternated upper and lower body daily with the weight training. With one day completely off. (this ..of course..is my plan, not always the fact of how my life goes). Although I wish the scale was moving faster.. I'm happy with the results I'm realizing with the exercise. Good luck!
btw.. i would encourage anyone that is thinking about it to try the strength training, give it 3 months and you'll be hooked after seeing your body change. I'm really looking forward to shedding this fat, because I can feel muscle under it all just waiting to be revealed!! emoticon

My husband and I are going with the low carb program. We are both very heavy people, so we decided to use this program. I know alot of people are against it, but since my husband is at 400 lbs and I am shy of 300 lbs, we found this is working for us right now.
