Found these online...

Halloween Scavenger Hunt Idea - Witches Brew:
Have a fun party by collecting items to create a "magical" witches brew. First, select the number of items you want to find from Riddle Me's Nature Scavenger Hunt list. It will produce a random list of items. You can then substitute any for more "witchy" type like "something green", an animal bone, or piece of a dead log. After your little "witches" have found all the items, have them put them in a bowl or "calderon". Say some magic words and "poof", you "magically" produce some treats for them!

Goofy Costume Party - Halloween Scavenger Hunt:
Create a list of funny "wearable" items using Riddle Me's scavenger hunt list for example; something with 'boo' on it, a party hat, or a pompom. Give each child a list and send them to find them with the instruction that they must wear what they find. Once everyone is done have a parade and take pictures.

"Who Am I" Costume Party - Halloween Riddle Hunt:
Have the children collect the pieces of a costume by finding them at different places around the house. Choose the locations from Riddle Me's hunt inventory and it will make the clues for you. Then in each location put a collection of costume items. For example, the first place could have things for your head like a wig, a hat, or a crown. The second place could have items for your face like a mask, glasses, or a clown nose. All the children work together to figure out the clues and go to the places. Once they are there they have to choose what item the want and put it on. In the end, everyone must tell "what they are" or name what they are dressed as.

There was no staining from the food coloring. I think the karo syrup kept it from coming off onto the kids.

I'm surprised that the food coloring didn't stain around the mouth..(or did it?)
Cute idea!

My fave was blood on the glasses. I got dollar store "wine-like" glasses and dipped the rims in Karo Syrup and red food coloring. When you turned them upright the "blood" dripped very decoratively on the glasses. It was easy to wash off later and didn't ruin the taste of the punch.

... i saw Martha do this: fill a diposable rubber glove with colored water (red). Secure the end with a rubber band..freeze and use for the ice in your punch. As a matter of fact, you might want to check out her site.. (I'm talking Stewart of course). She LOVES Halloween.

Could you make a haunted house? In your basement or yard? Have adults hiding to scare the kids. :o) I went to one once and was really creeped out by hidden "monsters" simply sneakily slapping any bare part of the body with wet spaghetti.
You could have a blindfolded contest to guess the item the kids are holding..suggesting ideas (multiple choice) ex: peeled grape.."Is it an eyeball? Is it a body organ? YUCK! Kids love gross stuff though.
However..the thought of Halloween ALREADY is a bit depressing, summer here in MA is short enough..and it hasn't really begun yet here.

i had a halloween party last year for my kids and my friends kids. it was such a hit i decided to do it again this year. i know it is kinda early but i like being prepared and not waiting til the last minute. anyways last year we started off by carving pumpkins(every body brought their own) we had goulish snacks, played pin the eye on the monster, gave out treat bags, and roasted marshmellows over a big fire we played creepy music the whole time and every body was required to dress up. i was wanting some new ideas this year and i thought who would be a better group of people to ask than my crafty spark friends after all most of us who like to craft have to be somewhat creative. i am open to all suggestions from types of creepy food to easy crafts to do with the kids and decorations and games.
