thanks Time Flies for the ideas. Surprisingly she's NOT into Barbie. Last night we watched I-carly for several hours until she FINALLY fell asleep.

Thanks Stylgrl for the ideas. I'm going to look through my craft stuff this week to find something for her to do this weekend. Maybe I'll let her make her own bracelet with the stretch cord.

Since we like Crystal Light type drinks (with canisters) I hate to throw them out. They look so useful.

I go to the Dollar Store and buy tissue paper, white glue and a paint brush. Paint the glue on the canister using a paint brush and then put on the tissue paper. Then glue over the tissue paper. It's decoupaging. I like to tear up the tissue paper. Not only is it more fun, makes it intersting looking, you don't have to worry about it getting crumpled.

I also like to make bookmarks. You can get the materials from a craft store. Either Tags or just heavy paper like card stock. I prefer heavy paper because then it will last. If you want to get fancy, there are cool paints at a craft store for under $2.00 a bottle. I don't know how much you want to spend. I also like to cut out pictures from page-a-day calendars to decorate bookmarks.

Does she like barbies? There is a book about making barbie clothes from old socks.

I can definitly help.. I enjoy spending every sunday dawn to dark with my 6 year old..granddaughter..who refers to herself as an artist..lol
We never stop, here are "some" recent art prodjects:
Oriental Trade have TONS of inexpensive materials/kits, we recently purchased 1 dozen white cardboard guitars and a pack of 500 stick on gemstones.. all for less than $15.00. Yesterday we painted a couple guitars..next week we will add gemstones, glue in some ornamental strings and glitter.
She loves FIMO..(polimer clay), we have a spaghetti making machine we use with it, and you cure the clay in a regular oven at around 250 degrees..for a short time.
Crayola also makes an airdry clay..comes in many colors, or buy a large package of white..(that way you get 2 craft days out of 1) 'cuz after it dries you paint it.
They like to bake. Brownies are easy..( a mix). They get to measure and crack eggs..fun.
Save some egg shells that you have used yourself, being careful to break them so you kinda just break off the top. Paint them and fill with soil and grass seed. Instant home mede chia pet.
Fill an old nylon knee high with wood shavings..(like for a hampster cage).. Shape it creativly into a person or just a head.. add googly eyes ect..put grass seed on top..the grass will grow through the nylon.
Highlights magazine for chldren has a PzzleBuzz magazine, that keeps her active "alone" for a break. :o)
I have more.. let me know when you are done with these..lol

If you have any oat meal canisters (the round ones with lids not the boxes) or any round canister with a lid. You can have her decorate it & put beads or anything that makes noise inside & she has a drum.

Hubby's best friend has custody of his kids. During the summer, the kids spend 1 week with him and the next week with her. When they are with him, every Saturday night they are at our house. Saturday night is guys night at our house with all our friends. They sit around and play cards and bs all night long.

The little boy plays well by himself and is pretty good. The little girl has to be constantly entertained and I'm running out of ideas of what to do with her. She has the attention span of a gnat (or even smaller). She gets tired of movies 2 minutes after they start. I've tried playing games with her and can't get through 1 game.

What types of crafts could I do with her that might hold her interest for more time than it takes to get all the stuff out and ready to work with?? She's 7 and gets ignored by her mom -- even before the divorce.

Thanks for any ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
