First thought I had was a nice piece of driftwood for a base. (could drape netting over part of this too)

or an old weathered looking wood box.. put sand in it, shrug.

styrofoam of grapevine would both work.. or straw even. but those are simple and basic.. could you starch some netting or rope for a more nautical approach?

Recently I went to Sanibel Island and Siesta Key Beach Florida where I collected a few bags of really beautiful shells. The ones that you spend money for at craft stores in all different sizes.
I want to do something with them but I am not sure what. One possibility was to make wreaths for different times of the year. I don't know what I could use as a base for the wreath to put the shells on. Anyone have any suggestions?
