Wow Patsy that is a wonderful painting of poppies that you did. I work for an arts council and so am lucky enough to be surrounded by awesome art most days.
I'm not much of an artist, I like to play more with beads. So I guess I could be called a bead artist, But I do keep a set of pencil crayons in my desk drawer just in case lol.

Patsy,
Your poppy painting is gorgeous! You're very talented. I'd love to see a pic of the purple rose when you're done.

My only rule about cleaning the plate (for my kids) is that if they want dessert or anything else to eat they need to finish what they have. I figure if they are hungry for dessert then they have room to finish their dinner. I have also "made a deal" with my 4yo DS one time where he wanted a doughnut for dessert but was too full to finish his dinner. I told him that since he had eaten most of his dinner that he could have his doughnut for breakfast the next day and he did!

Happy Valentines Day everyone.
I hope you all had a great Valentines day, mine was a normal day, If you do not date and are not married it is just another day.
In Jan 2007 when I started SP I also changed my dinner plate to a small plate, and it really does help. I am also a plate cleaner; I think it is the way we were brought up. My parents always said: “You will sit there until you finish your food!” Who also had that???? I never did that as a parent, I believe if you are not hungry, how can you eat? If you are hungry you will eat.
At the moment I do 2 things at a time, it is more the oil painting than the beading, I am doing an enormous (about 3’ x 3’) purple rose for my daughter’s bedroom, so far …. it looks good. Check out my page for the Red Chinese Poppies I did for my newly decorated lounge.
Nice poem Kat, thanks.
Have a great weekend
Hugs to all

But you can put half your dinner into a to-go box before you even start eating! Then you have lunch for the next day all set.

I just bought a set of 9" plates and now eat off of those. They're smaller, but keep me from piling on the food. That way I can still clean my plate and not feel so guilty about it. but this only works if you eat at home. You can't very well take your 9" plate into a restaurant and ask them to put your food on it. emoticon

This month has been more than trying w/ my commitment to a new me. Part of my new me is moving. DH and I has found a house and now are doing the paperwork to buy it. Luckily we are renting a house so we don't have to worry about selling a house too. I find at work I am very good at planning my meals, somtimes finding time for a walk but almost all my other time it focused around getting this house. Then the move-in begins! I guess my biggest grip right now is when DH and are do all this paperwork, we are eating out tooo much and that is where I have my biggest problem - over eating. I can pick the right choices, but I eat too much of them. I haven't gained, but I'm not losing either. OK... enough griping! I will get though this. At least at our new house there is lots of space for my exercise equipment and once spring comes, There are nature trails in the back of our house. It's in New Hampshire!
