I think water is important. I also like the fruit/veggies thing, but maybe we could focus just on veggies. I tend to eat a lot of fruit, but not alot of veggies. As for the physical, I am pretty open to anything.

I am not on a diet, I am making lifestyle changes for my health.

I will eat to live, not live to eat.

OK - so everyone - what type of challenge(s) would you like to see. I like the format - 3 things to work out - do we want to keep water, keep veggies but maybe say 10 minutes of cardio a day or a total of 70 cardio minutes for the week?

Let me know - this is your challenge - what do you all need help with?

Well I just got started today, so I'm running late, but here is what i've done so far this week:
Unfortunately I haven't had a single serving of vegetables this week. I need to work on that.
Get at least 25 Spark Points a day: accomplished Monday, Tuesday and Friday
Do 100 jumping Jacks a day - accomplish Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
30 min of cardio 5x and strength training 3x - I have accomplished 2x Cardio and 2x Strength training so far.

Well I feel like I have been lacking.
We have been to 9 ringette games in 4 days and I feel like I am coming down with something but I am going to do the Jumping Jacks and work out for 30 mins on the rower today when kids are napping.
Only 5 more games until sunday night. We are almost done the season!!!!!
Oh Veggies are all good at this end. That is my best snack foods.

I am having trouble getting off the couch at night. However, I found that through my Health Insurance I get a great discount to a local gym and I also have a friend who may be interested in joining too. We are going to check it out tomorrow. I plan on going before I go home after work. Once I am home, I don't want to go out again. Great Work everyone!

I'm focusing on the Challenges that really need to work on.

Mostly exercise. I've started doing Leslie Sansone Walking videos--we've had ice and snow on the ground since I signed up last Thursday. I'm not doing jumping jacks.

I am soooooo far behind on Spark emails it's just not funny! But I like this challenge too...so....

Yesterday:
12 Servings of Fruits and Vegetables
This includes 1 whole large grapefruit (which counts as 2 servings)
3 cups (packed) of salad with lettuce, tomato, spinach, cucumbers and bell peppers (this counts as 3 servings)
1 cup sliced red bell pepper
2 servings of mixed vegetables
3 cups of cut up melons (musk and honeydew) and grapes (counts as 3 servings)
1 cup of strawberries/blueberries/raspberries

YES! I love my fruits and veggies!

Jumping Jacks:
None - I took yesterday off from exercise...

Funny. These were some personal goals I had recently set for myself. I have already made a conscious effort to stick to serving sizes and be honest with my tracking. Also, reading labels has been eye opening for me.

The other day when I walked around a lake with my family, I would stop periodically and do strength training exercises, like jumping jacks (25 at a time), so I got my 100 in for sure that day.

Challenges, bring em on.

I'm not sure about the 100 jumping jacks. But you never know until you try!
One of my fast break goals is to eat 2 fruits/vegetables a day so this challenge should help me ramp that up a bit. I'm not a big fan of veggies so this will be harder than the jumping jacks!!
OK, I'm going to try to do som jacks now...

I haven't gotten all the way up to 100 at one time yet either. But it is a great goal. I do 25 then walk for 5 minutes and do it over again until I'm done. Then walk a little more to cool down.

Week 1 of the Summer Challenge ... Starting the Habits.

Nutrition Habit - Reading Labels
Track what you eat this week. And make sure you know how many servings are in a package! If there are 3 servings and you eat the whole package, make sure you enter it.

Challenge - Eat at least 3 servings of vegetables every day

Fitness Habit - Recommended exercise is 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week and strength training 3 times a week. Track what you do and work on consistency first. You can add intensity later.

Challenge - Do 100 Jumping Jacks every day (if you have injured knees don't actually jump)
