Great question, @SCRAPALICIOUS Sorry you didn't receive anyone's answer previously but it seems this topic got buried under other comments where it couldn't be seen. When I found it today, I notice you're still active on SparkPeople and wanted to share my thoughts about it.

I count all activity but I don't track it all. So I may be running errands and doing all kinds of steps but I only put into my Sparkpeople Fitness tracker those activities which I'm doing in such a way to produce either a cardio benefit and/or a strength training benefit. This is what works best for me.

One example is cleaning. I clean on a regular basis. However I don't track that unless it is the extra-heavy duty type of cleaning done occasionally or involves moving furniture to clean behind it where it is truly "lifting" involved and not just one item or something but more of a sustained, cardio (i.e. sweat producing, increase the heart rate, type of thing) activity.

It has been a while since you posted. Have you decided one way or the other what you are going to do? Or perhaps have you tried some different things? Curious to know how it is going for you.

So I know the steps count no matter what. If I take one, my garmin logs it...pacing in the kitchen, counts! Walking to the back to talk to kids, counts! BUT...what do you count towards your burn. I know there are multiple places that count calories, but do you count the multiple outfit changes we face getting dressed (getting kids dressed, etc)? Do you count house cleaning? Do you count unloading groceries from the car to the house? Or do you simply count the focused efforts towards fitness/exercise for your calorie burn?
