I'm sure you lose weight on both of them. But, then what? You cannot afford that for the rest of your life. Try to figure out something that will help you lose, and that you can follow for the rest of your life. Long term is more important than a quick loss.

I know people who have done both and one did well until she got off it then she has gained some back and the other one didn't stick to it enough I don't think so not very good examples. I think if you just keep moving and lower you calories on your own you could do it! I started off at 275 I think that was almost 2 yrs ago and I lost then I had a change in meds in gain almost 20lbs back and I did it on my own until this last May then I decided to go see a dr and I did the HCG diet which is very strick and you take a pill or drops and can only eat 500 calories a day and I did well with that dropping about 3lbs per wk. It did help me jump start my weightloss I believe and I'm now down to 219 but having a hard time getting under that so getting a little frustrated.

Use all the resources and people on here find a buddy to walk or workout with and that will help! Good Luck you can do this don't give up!

I tried both Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig and I would go on JC again but not Nutrisystem. I did not like any of the food on Nutrisystem. All there food was shelf food nothing frozen and it all tasted the same to me. I am a very picky eater but JC had the best food. Their chicken fettuccine was to die for. I lost 30 pounds on JC and an average of 3-4 pounds a week. I stopped because JC is expensive, much more than Nutrisystem. I was having the food mailed to me which had a 50 dollar shipping fee on top of the cost of the food. I am thinking about trying it again but I have to find a center to go pick the food up from this way I save the shipping and I have since learned that you are only contracted to spend 50.00 per week and that is much more affordable than what I was paying the first time.

Yeah I totally get that! It definitely helps to have structure and a support system.

The first book I read a few years ago that started planting the seeds to change the way I eat was Dr. Oz's You On a Diet. I don't know if you've read it, but it's hugely informative and easy to read. He has some meal plans in there that provide some structure too.

In the end it's going to take planning, and a lot of work to get where we want to be. It's taken me probably 6 years before I was able to even begin to take the first steps of eating better.

Whatever you choose I'm sure it'll help with weight loss and/or learning about yourself and food.

Best.

your probably right JESTER150 ... It probably is better to eat right , the right way. I probably should read up on what you were talking about...
what im looking for is lots of structure. if its up to me entirely-seems like i mess it up everytime. the basic concept of -eat this only this at this time thats it-is what i need basically i guess bc i dont trust myself enough to make the right choice bymyself.

I tried nutrisystem and thought it was pretty much a waste of money. Granted I didn't like the food that much. I didn't stick to it long enough to lose any weight. I started reading Michael Pollan books, and it pretty much turned me off to the principles of nutrisystem.

I'm sure it works for some people - but I think it's cheaper and healthier in the long run to stick to whole foods.

I did it.. and I would lose like .5-1 lb per week. to me, paying that much money to get results like I would if I just ate well and exercised just wasn't worth it! I didn't work out though while doing it, maybe that would have helped. The food was pretty yummy though!
If all you had to pay was $340 that'd be great, but they still want you to buy produce to go with your meals, salads, fruits, etc.. so you're still going grocery shopping every week.
If you have the extra money, give it a shot! But if you're on a budget like me, you can do it in other ways!!

has anyone ever tried it? Im thinking about getting either Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem, but I am just a little confused about how it all works and if it actually works.
So ive had gastric bypass and ive pretty much hit the dreaded plateau... i want to lose that last 50 lbs!!!!! so that's why ive sort of treid to turn to these things....
I actually have a cousin that has nutrisystem and she actually gave me a day's worth of food of hers to try it out and see if i like the food and stuff... so far i have eaten breakfast (a cereal) and a snack ( a little protein bar) and it pretty much tastes good and im not that hungry (which is very good) but its about $340. Which is for 5 weeks of food which is awesome if you think about it as a per day thing it equals a little more than $9 a day...which for 3 meals and snacks a day that's pretty awesome i guess... its just a lot to pay up front....

sorry i ramble. lol. thank you for any kind of advice!!! :)
