Yesterdays race was a good one. Felt so bad for Hamlin. I say its not fair to Jeff Gordon that they took his pit crew away from him But so glad Johnson didnt win but now next weeks race is going to be a nail bitting one. I just want Hamlin to win or anyone but Johnson or Kyle. Sorry just the way I feel.I would not even mind if Kevin won.

It's going to be a good day and perhaps the turning point for Johnson, Hamlin and Harvick. It should be a good race with the trash talking that's been taking place between teams.

My pick today is Denny Hamlin, although I'm a fan of Kevin Harvick.

Best,
Greg

I cant wait for the race tomorrow. Or should I say later today. LOL
I would love to see Mark Martin win the championship. Lot will depend on the race later today. I will be watching it for sure. I agree Nascar needs to look in to changing some rules but bet they wont any time soon

I'm not fond of the Chase either. They have changed so many rules you wonder if Johnson would have won so many championships if they played by the old rules. Hate the lucky dog also, I believe it has changed the out come of more than one race.

Wish Stewart would win, but will settle for anyone but Johnson.

AMEN!!! I'm SO over the "Chase"... and not just because Jeff would have at least one if not two more championships to his name!

I'm also SOOOO over Jimmie! Don't get me wrong... I will always root for Hendricks drivers, and I do believe that he is a great driver. However, I'm tired of the cheating, the "pushing the envelope", AND everything else that he & Chad have been accused of. It's pretty bad when everytime that Jimmie wins, you have to wonder if his car will pass inspection!

I hope that maybe next year NASCAR thinks about changing the rules so that we can get more actual racing going on most of the time. Also, I hope that one day someone sees what a joke the Chase for the Championship has become (or always was?) and does away with it. Let the boys race, and let the best RACER win the Cup.

There was much rejoicing!

I understand why Jimmie ran the "race" he ran but for goodness sake, that's not racing! If the only way that you can win the championship is by hanging back and not racing the other drivers...then you don't deserve the dang championship to begin with.

There are enough questions about the cheating that Jimmie's team has gotten away with in the past, and this kind of strategy just adds to that reputation. No, technically it wasn't cheating, but it certainly wasn't racing, either, and anyone who can't bother to race every week doesn't deserve to win the championship, regardless of how the rules have been fixed to give it to him.

There was much rejoicing!

Nitewalk you said it right. Jimmy stayed in the back and missed the wrecks to end up in 8th place in the race today and an even bigger lead in the chase. Happy for McMurray as winner.

I think at this point even if he has 1 bad race he is the Champ.
There are a lot of unhappy people out there that say they "never watch NASCAR again." It's like the domination that happens in any other sport where dynasty's happen, people become haters.
I am not a new hater, I think the cheating that has happened in the past is/has been rewarded, and have never liked his or Chad's cavalier attitudes.
I was thinking yesterday, I wonder how much would NASCAR have to give Hendrick to have 48 'throw' the races so Mark could win it all?

All that said, you have to give them credit for being there at the end whether they pushed the gray areas or not.

I'm a Hendricks supporter, so I'm not wishing any ill will on Jimmie, but the man seems like Superman this year!

Is it possible that he could actually go through the entire Chase w/out a single bad race???

I have been watching some of the prerace things but havent heard anything about Kyle. going to put the other channel on and see if its started on there yet. Good luck to everyones favorite.

Just saw Kyle. They say he is sicker than yesterday. He didnt look too good. He may start but bet he dont stay in the car. Guess Hamlin took over for him yesterday. Glad to learn Lagono won yesterday.

Did anybody hear if Baby Bush is driving today? He was too sick to practice earlier.
Maybe they will put in a sub who can actually drive the car without whining.

Going to relax and watch the nascar race today. Cant wait to see how Jr and Tony do today. I am still hopeful for Jr to have a really great race with no malfunctions that are not his fault. May the best driver win.

Sunday's race was awesome to see... I sure wish that Jeff had just a couple more laps, because I think he would've had time to catch Tony, as his tires were just about to go away!

Oh well... there's always California!

BTW - listening to Montoya on the scanner was hilarious... he was NOT a happy camper!

I guess I've always been a bit of a rebel, but I really do like things that aren't quite the norm. (We could call me eclectic, too. Sort of sounds better. Or maybe I'm just that odd aunt that nobody ever wants to allow out in public...

emoticon )

Anyway, of course I want Jeff to win the championship again. I'm not terribly fond of the Chase, in part because it robbed Jeff of his 5th championship the year that he was 300 points ahead of everyone but didn't have any wins. I don't particularly like Martin, but he has earned the place in the points where he's sitting, regardless of this whole hokey Chase thing. Right now it looks like the championship is his...but there are still 9 races to go...

There was much rejoicing!

I would like to see Jeff or Mark win. Jeff, because I'm a very devout fan (make that fanatic), and I'd love to see him win his 5th championship! Mark because he's come so close so many times... and the fact that he came back to try again, it would really be like a Cinderella story for him!

As for who I think will win it, I'm afraid that Juan will win it. (I would be one of those Rednecks that don't really care for him... lol) I do give him kudos for making the Chase - he earned his right to be there, and he really is a good driver. If he keeps driving the way he has just prior to the Chase, I believe he's got a real shot at it!

I have a soft spot in my heart for Montoya because of the fact that he's from the same country that brought the world my husband. And I probably also like him for the same basic reason why he's unpopular with rednecks in the South...he's different from all of the other drivers in that he didin't grow up living and breathing NASCAR. Oh well, we'll all get over it one day. emoticon (No offense intended to said rednecks, I just like things that are different from the norm in most areas of life.)

Anyway like I've said, Martin is not among my favorite drivers. But he's a good driver and a classy guy who doesn't spew all of his problems out in public. He would make a good champion if Montoya and Gordon both fail to get to the top of the points.

I would like to see Mark finally win a championship. He deserves it after all this time.
Provided he gets a couple of top fives in the next few races he will have the best shot.

I wouldn't mind seeing Juan win it but it would be unpopular because all the rednecks here in the South look at him as a foreigner who doesn't belong in NASCAR. I have him on my fantasy team.

It sure looks like Martin will win right now....but there are 9 more races to go. The one who's in the lead with 9 or 10 races to go often seems to have problems and not end up winning the championship. Any of the guys in the top 12 COULD still win, and I think that any one of them would make a pretty good champion and be a good representative for NASCAR. It's really going to be fun to watch these last 9 races and wait to see who's going to win.

Okay now that the Chase has started I've got a couple of questions for you guys.

First, who do you WANT to win the championship?
Second, who do you think WILL win the championship?

For the first question, I'd like to see either Jeff Gordon or Juan Montoya win it this year.

For the secone question, right now it looks like Mark Martin is on a roll and could win it all this year. He's not one of my favorite drivers but the driver who wins the championship is the one who earned it, and Martin has certainly earned his place at the top of the points so far this year.
