Do you usually track your food? Always -The good & the bad

If yes what is your favorite tracker?
Sparkpeople

What is the longest streak you've had tracking?
I have no idea.

Do you post your food before you eat it? Or after?
A bit of both. Usually as I’m eating if it’s something I eat often. Other times I log first to see calories & options to stay in range or the least traumatizing to my meal.

What do you learn from tracking?
If I’m staying in my range. What I’m lacking/needing yet to round out my health. Healthier options.

Has it helped you lose weight in the past? Yes

Do you have any questions about the SparkPeople nutrition tracker? Not at this time

If you use the SparkPeople trackers do you run the report? What info do you use?
I try to look at calories in verses out. If I’m at my protein & or calcium intake.

Do you have any tips to share?
Not at this time.

I am Serena. I now live most of the time at a lodge on the western side of Washington state. I was ready to retire this past July but decided to transfer and stick around for another couple years. I don't think I will last another couple years. The ranch just sold and will close shortly and that will be my opportunity to pay off my new truck and my barn and finally leave the workforce behind! We are opening a destination airbnb and I will be working full time with that and training my new Gypsy

I sent a question to the Spark Coach - is there an option to track a food without using a specific title and then me entering the estimated calories?

Coach's Answer:
Hello,

It looks like you may be using the app, so if you are, you could do a quick entry by going to the search food screen, tap on the 3 dots near the top of the page, tap Add Quick Entry, you can then enter calories and tap the check mark in the upper right corner and it will be added to your tracker.

I hope that helps, but if you need additional help with that feature, please email support@sparkpeople.com and our support team can assist you further.

Do you usually track your food? Yes

If yes what is your favorite tracker? Sparks

What is the longest streak you've had tracking? Not sure. I do try to track every day.

Do you post your food before you eat it? Or after? Depends but mostly after.

What do you learn from tracking? I learn if I am in range or not. Among other things.

Has it helped you lose weight in the past? Yes

Do you have any questions about the SparkPeople nutrition tracker? Nope

If you use the SparkPeople trackers do you run the report? What info do you use? I only use what the app allows.

Do you have any tips to share? Tracking helps keep you on track. The more you save in favorites or as groups the easier it is to track.

Any questions your teammates could answer? No at this time.

Do you usually track your food? Everyday

If yes what is your favorite tracker? My favorite is Fitness Pal but I also track on Spark

What is the longest streak you've had tracking? The longest is on Fitness Pal that is for 730 days but broke it with surgery and not being able to.

Do you post your food before you eat it? Or after? Depends- sometimes right before than update it after I eat. Majority of the time it is directly after I finish eating.

What do you learn from tracking? When I first started I learned that the food I was eating was not giving me all the nutrition my body needed. It also showed me the amount of wasted calories in certain foods that were not good.

Has it helped you lose weight in the past? I lost all my weight when I started tracking. Now it helps me maintain my weight.

Do you have any questions about the SparkPeople nutrition tracker? No, after playing around on the site I figured out all my questions.

If you use the SparkPeople trackers do you run the report? What info do you use? I run the report and look at the calorie breakdown to see if I am eating enough protein and not eating too many carbs. I also look at the nutrition break down to see where the calories are coming from and what vitamins and minerals I am missing.

Do you have any tips to share? Only that tracking is eye opening and everyone should do it to understand what they are putting in their body. It really helps in changing your eating habits if you track and look at the information and commit to changing your lifestyle.

Any questions your teammates could answer? Not right now

Let's share how things are going this week.

Do you usually track your food? Y

If yes what is your favorite tracker? SP

What is the longest streak you've had tracking? 27 MONTHS

Do you post your food before you eat it? Or after? USUALLY AFTER

What do you learn from tracking? THAT I EAT TOO MUCH HIGH CALORIE FOOD

Has it helped you lose weight in the past? Y

Do you have any questions about the SparkPeople nutrition tracker? I HAD AN OLD IPAD THAT WOULDN'T UPDATE AND THE SP TRACKER THING THAT I HAD ON IT, PROBABLY AN OLDER VERSION THAT WOULD WORK WITH THE IPAD VERSION, WAS SIMPLE TO USE. I RECENTLY GOT A SAMSUNG TABLET, AND THE NEW THING THAT DOWNLOADED IS NOT THE SAME, ITS MORE LIKE THE SP TRACKER ON COMPUTER, AND I FIND IT TOO HARD & ANNOYING TO USE.

If you use the SparkPeople trackers do you run the report? What info do you use? ONLY SOMETIMES, AND WHEN I GET TO PLAYING, i ALWAYS FIND NEW STUFF/INFO THAT I DID NOT SEE BEFORE. MY FAV IS CALORIES DIFFERENTIAL AND I USE THAT ONE OFTEN. IT IS VERY SURPRISING WITH THE LOUSY CRAP I EAT, THAT I USUALLY AM WITHIN MOST OF THE LEVELS THAT IS ON THE DEEPER NUTRITION LEVELS ONE.

Do you have any tips to share? NOT REALLY, OTHER THAN IT TRUELY TAKES JUST MINUTES TO FILL IN, AND IS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT. (WELL AT LEAST ON THE OLD VERSION I HAVE ON THE OLD IPAD)

Any questions your teammates could answer? NOT UNLESS SOMEONE KNOWS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT WITH THE DIFFERENT VERSIONS....IS THE APPLE VERSION DIFF THAN ANDROID MAYBE??

It won't work unless I do!

I sent a question to the Spark Coach - is there an option to track a food without using a specific title and then me entering the estimated calories?

Years ago I set up one for myself called 'WHOA!". I select it then enter the estimated calories. Down at the bottom of the nutrition page I can make a note about it if I wish.

I track my food regularly in the SP nutrition tracker. Unfortunately, that does not always translate into staying within my calorie range, but it helps my awareness of the calories and nutrition I am consuming.

Do you usually track your food No

If yes what is your favorite tracker?

What is the longest streak you've had tracking? Two weeks for the 5% challenge, sometimes intermittently during the challenges

Do you post your food before you eat it? Or after? After, I can not hold my appetite to a planned meal.

Has it helped you lose weight in the past? Yes, it really helps me to resist evening snacking.

Do you have any questions about the SparkPeople nutrition tracker? I wish there were an option to track foods without specific calories using estimates or leaving the calories blank.

If you use the SparkPeople trackers do you run the report? No. What info do you use? If the challenge asks us to track a specific nutrient like calcium, sodium, or fiber, I'll look at those numbers.

Do you have any tips to share? Not at this time.
