I should have started a new thread called "Post your October Steps Here" but forgot as I'm not home.

Please go to that thread to post any steps you wish to record.

We had rain until yesterday. Night before last I thought it had stopped and put on my pedometer to set out but I got out the door and it had started again so I just gave that up.

I'm off this weekend "camping" so plan to take my pedometer and do a lot of walking around the campground; it's level and I'll have the two grandkids to help :-)

I have not used my pedometer since coming to my daughter's place, but I think tomorrow I'll put it on and see how many steps I go. It's up and down stairs all day, plus I'm painting too, so it's up and down the ladder. I know I'm tired, so I must be doing something!

Another team said "Just do it" today so I grabbed an umbrella (we're supposed to have more heavy rain/thunderstorms today) and started walking. I went up to the local church which has been on that ground since 1600's/1700's; saw the ruins of the 1725 church (very tiny!) and visited the grave of an 18 year old girl (I think), Caroline, who died in 1813.

I haven't been able to walk the last 2-3 days because of this long East Coast front wandering through. It should be out of here by tomorrow they say so I guess I can get back to it tomorrow night.

I put away my black sandals I'd been wearing to walk in the other day and I bought 3 pairs of new shoes (needed a new "dress" pair for my high school reunion in a couple weeks) but I wore the ones I got to replace my clogs (the clogs make my knee worse after awhile?) and I'm not sure these new ones are going to be any better. I'll walk in them tomorrow, see if they'll work or if I have to try my sports shoes or my hiking shoes or if I have a pair I can walk in comfortably or not. :-(

I go to a "real" shoe store these days, buy quality shoes over $100 each so I can't afford for them to mess up my legs, even though they feel good on my feet. Don't know if it's me or the shoes. Could be the shoes are too perfect and I'm not :-) I've had that happen before with the doctor making me a cookie for my shoe and having it wreck my knee, could be the same things is happening again, you can't put on perfect shoes, even and "straight" unless you have perfect legs, which no one does.

I only have 22" strides, my step counter is also a pedometer so you have to measure and program in the length of your "step". I think the "average" is based on 24" steps. Now if they had only made it so it didn't "talk," LOL, I'd be happy.

But I love its click and walking at night so I can hear it easily and so no one will see me when I tap my chest if it stops to get it going again. I was wondering last night if I might start dreaming about the ticking or equate it somehow with my heartbeat, etc. It could go either way I imagine being either reassuring or scary.

Actually, Margo, it's more like 2350 steps = 1 mile, so you walked closer to 1.25 miles.

Again, yardwork, went shopping for produce, up and down each aisle, but don't know how far I walked.

emoticon I walked 2923 out front, 1.01 miles. That's the most I've done out there so far I think. Tomorrow we're supposed to have heavy rain and gusts up to 45 mph in the evening/night so I don't think I'll be walking, LOL.

I'm sure I hit the magic 7500 today, but didn't always have my ped on. Did scads of yard work, first walking around with the weed eater, then the same with the blower, then finally went over the entire lawn with the lawn mower. Sweat was running down the back of my neck, so give me a break....I'm trying!

Good for you Cy -- you always come through!
Hugs to all, Eve

You're a fine leader, Eve!

9/23 (my 19th anniversary)
Steps: 2383

I walked around the circle out front 10 times; in case I didn't count right, I walked an extra time around, wanted to make sure I got 30 minutes in. Pedometer says .82 miles; I guess in the future I'll try for 15 circles. It was at least 25 minutes, maybe 26, 27; close enough :-)

Couldn't wear my pedometer today most of the time, put it on for a couple of hours in the afternoon and walked close to 1000 steps. Sorry I can't be the leader of all you good people in this. It is getting cooler here and I'll be more active.

I can't gauge half an hour or number of steps to save my life! Another only 15-20 minutes and I can't force myself back out there like last night. And I was trying to walk slower so I could last longer and was walking around the outside of the street instead of the middle so it would be more steps, etc. Oh, well, there's tomorrow night! :-)

I was determined to walk for half an hour tonight but when I came in, I'd only walked 20 minutes! I looked at the counter and it was only at 1800 something too. I was so disappointed but made myself go out and do another 3 rotations of the "track" I have here in the street. That's part of the problem, I'm walking in the middle of the street instead of on the sidewalk so it's fewer steps :-)

I think I'm going to pledge to do 30 minutes or 2500 steps for a bit, at least through September.

Only 1201 tonight 9/19; I went out 15 minutes early to my "quiet" cul de sac and it was like Grand Central! I had 10 cars, mostly huge, diesels the guys drive in a 2-3 minute period! I had to stop and get up on the island grass a couple times because I was afraid.

Yes, I'm having the same trouble but decided to change that tonight. We live on an oval, went out (in the dark :-) and walked around it 5-6 times in 20 minutes, 1100 steps. I'm going to try to get myself to do that at least every other night, just walk until I'm tired or feel uncomfortable.

Didn't walk this weekend, 6th and 7th; tropical storm Hanna on the 6th and yard cleanup and overdue "maintenance" on the 7th. I wore my step counter all day today but just took it off and it's only showing 888 steps. It wasn't working all the time, I had to jiggle it lots so I'm sure there were a few more steps than that :-)

Oh my on the button pressing boob :-) My pedometer talks and I was afraid I'd be embarrassed, the clicking sound mine makes is "interesting;" I was telling my husband about it and hoping people around me wouldn't hear it :-) But I can turn off most of it. I didn't walk walk today, had to take a friend to the doctor early instead but we went to the grocery store and I did some "walking"/pacing while I waited for her at the doctors so I guess I got a bit more in than I thought.

A woman in another team told me how she gets her pedometer to read correctly, clips it backwards, facing her skin, in the center of her bra! It works! It doesn't show and is closer to my ears so I can hear the clicks and if it stops clicking, I can easily adjust myself :-) I had a little other walking today for another team's challenge.

Both stepcounter and pedometer don't work properly (trashed step counter, it totally died); walked 1/2 mile and added another 1/2 mile for daily "base" amount as per rainy day. Will walk 1/2 mile before turning on computer for a week, then mile, etc., aiming for library, post office, or grocery store at least twice by last week of month (2 to 2-1/2 miles).
