Not many July birthdays for our group, at least for the ones who have entered. Although looking at that post I see that AEGEHE (might have spelled it wrong -- what a memory I have!) Her birthday is on July 26, so that's next Tuesday.

Hugs to all -- Eve

Let me know what you think of the book, Eve -- who knows it might be something that works!
Otherwise maybe your body is just being stubborn and likes to be at that weight.

I hear ya...is this what they call a "plateau"? If so, then I am on one too...I just keep hopiing around between 119 to 119.4, been going on for weeks, but maybe help is on the horizon. DH ordered a book that is supposed to help you lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks & eat good tasting food. We will see....

I'm starting to hate summer! All I do is yo-yo. Looking at the calendar I started out at 145.8 went to 147.4 down to 145.6 up to 147 again then currently back to 144.4

Would be nice if I could just experience a nice slow decrease in weight and not jump all over the place.

It's the same old story -- easy on, difficult off. Want my theory? It does NOT TAKE 3500 CALORIES TO GAIN A POUND -- sometimes just a whiff of chocolate is enough. But to LOSE a pound, you probably have to eat 5000 calories less for each pound, and exercise until you are laying like a wet rag on the floor, totally exhausted.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it! Happy 4th of July!

Oh dear....I've had those "train wreck" days, but for me, it is usually something in the dessert line, I'm a sweet freak!
We are going out for BarBque lunch today, hope that doesn't do me in....I am tired of going in the wrong direction, "up"! LOL
Why oh why is it so easy to put those pounds on & so dreadfully hard to take them off?
Hang in there!

Yesterday was a boring day! Too hot to go for a walk! Too hot to work in my garden!
Too hot to exercise! No motivation! Awwgh! Help me!

I was braindead yesterday, so as I made my way from reading and munching on potato chips, I would then progress to working a jigsaw puzzle and munching on potato chips, to checking my emails while munchnig on potato chips -- to updating my genealogy chart while munching on potato chips.

Guess what? The potato chips won! I gain 2.2 pounds in one day! Hooray for the chips!

Hi other Eve - welcome back to the group! I see you have a very impressive number for your weight, and I envy you. Doubt if I'll ever get back to that, and as hard as I've tried this month,
with all my ups and downs I ended up with the exact same weight that I had on June 1st.

Summer is a busy time for lots of us retired folks, so I don't know if we'll see more people on here or perhaps less.

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to sign in on the Monthly Weigh In.

Hi Everyone,

I've been missing in action for some time, so don't know if i'm in the right place or not...
just wanted to say hi & welcome to July, ready or not! Nothing much has changed with me, still bouncing the same pound or two back & forth, but have not given up that one of these days it will head in a downward direction again....

It's this coming weekend; Scott, my husband, leaves Saturday morning, he agreed to drive himself to the airport and leave his car there which is great for me as he doesn't come back until late in the evening on Tuesday.

I haven't decided what I'll do Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday; I have a dentist's appointment for Tuesday afternoon. I was going to take a friend out for dinner Saturday as he's going away to work up in New York for 6 months, only come back to town here in Maryland on the weekends (Friday night to Sunday afternoon) but he decided to drive up this first weekend (job starts Monday) on Saturday.

I am looking forward to less "worry" about what to have for dinner, I can just have a salad or snack or go out on my own, etc. and I won't be tempted as badly for breakfast; Scott makes breakfast each morning, usually breakfast sandwiches and of good ingredients and not too high in calories but still, I'll be able to have just fruit and toast or something equally as nice but with half the calories and with fruit/veggies in it instead of all protein and grain/fiber with some salty dairy (cheese). I love baked potatoes for dinner, just with a teaspoon of butter (potatoes are whole foods except for Vitamin A and butter provides that); very filling and I eat the skin and find that nutty/filling, like protein. But I might just live on BLT sandwiches every day with my own garden tomatoes :-)

Well, everyone needs a little "alone" time now and then, so it's a wonderful idea. And by alone time I do not mean being alone necessarily mean you have to be alone, but perhaps just with different people than you are usually with.

How did you spend your alone time? Was it enjoyable? I hope so!

Congratulations, Eve! emoticon The October cruise sounds lovely.

Yes, it's just the four boys getting together, no wives :-) and Las Vegas was picked because the California brothers aren't as well off as the East Coast ones and it's a shorter distance, so cheaper for them. My husband wanted me to go but I said I wasn't going unless a sister-in-law went but one brother definitely didn't want his and the other, asked his and she definitely refused :-) So it's boys' weekend away.

Wow! That's a long way to go just to visit Las Vegas! But perhaps it is more of a reunion? Of course it doesn't seem worth the distance to me as I lived there for years and years.

My big news is that I am now officially engaged, and we have booked a cruise for October 1st to take in the fall color and enjoy the coolness of fall -- we are going to see Canada/Nova Scotia and New England.
I'm sure it will be most enjoyable.

Your 3-day week-end alone sounds like a terrific time for "me time." Hope you enjoy it.

I'm having a thoughtful Sunday, my husband is going away for a weekend with his brothers to Las Vegas (we're in Maryland, one brother is in Philly and the other two are in California, Santa Barbara and San Francisco) so I'm trying to plan for my own 3-day weekend by myself :-) Then it will be August and where has this summer gone?

I'm back in the heat for a little over a week this time. I've really got to FORCE myself to get to the gym which I didn't do last time and of course my shot up immediately. Right now I'm at a new low for me so I don't want to spoil it by gaining weight just because it's too hot to walk. But I know my dog will miss the cool weather too! Oh well, such is life!

Sounds like a good plan at the library. We had a lot of rain once Alex got going real good in the Gulf. I was getting a bit tired of missing the dog park and being unwilling to go out to run errands and get soaked. It is good now although it is officially our rainy season which means rain in the afternoons often.

At least it isn't too hot where you are now.

It's been decided that I can best serve the local Library by coming in each day to do my computer time, then when done with that I will do any filing they have and if there is time left after that I will straighten the shelves and make sure everything is in order. Sounds like that will work best for both me and the Library!

The monsoon season is nearly upon us, at which time we will have a bit of humidity instead of our usual 10% (lol) and obviously some rain! Everything will turn green which is the good side of it. The bad side is that I'll have to scrunch my walks in between the rainstorms. But think my projects will consist of quilting and cooking when I can't be out walking and doing yard work.

Volunteering can be very rewarding and sometimes fun. DH, my sister, and I drive a Citizen's Assisted Patrol car in our development for 2 hours each week (today was our day). We all enjoy it and the time tends to fly by.

I also volunteered at the library. After I stopped working for commercial tax preparation firms...I did taxes for free at the library during the tax season. It was a good experience. I also found that there was a need for persons to teach adults how to read. I was going to volunteer for that...but moved from the area. Other volunteers served on the library checkout desks to relieve the regular library workers for an hour or two. They also needed persons to assist those who were new at using computers.

First of all, I really missed having access to the Internet over the 4th & 5th of July. I now have to use the Public Library for access and they were closed both days. It was a hardship for me!

I also volunteered to work at the Library, and tried it out on Tuesday morning. I found that this old body of mine is not in good enough shape, and most likely never will be to shelve books on the very bottom shelf. Wow! I had such a sore back on Tues. night! So I'll do the other stuff, but not the really low, low shelving.

Weather is soooo nice up at this altitude. The day it was 88 degrees here it was 113 in the Phoenix area so it's no wonder I like it better here.

As this is July 1st let's not forget to go to the thread "Monthly Weigh In" and record our weight.

I find that my weight remains lower when I am here in the summer home where it's much cooler. For one thing I can walk if it is in the 80's, but NOT when it is way over 100!
