The scale will go up and down for me as much as 3 pounds and that is with sticking to my food and exercise plans. I don't like it but there really isn't anything I can do about it. I look at my weight from month to month and if it isn't dropping and I cannot identify "why", then I have to do some serious thinking. Otherwise I just accept what the scale says and move on.

My victory was short lived -- don't know what I ate yesterday but it was definitely fattening! I'm back to the 145.4 instead of 144.6 -- darn! I'm such a yo-yo it's making me dizzy! lol

I am glad that you are OK. At least you had a nice reward on the scale for the unpleasant evening.

Yesterday I had another of those weird "swelling" episodes that happen to me regularly. This time I felt it coming on just as I was finishing up as a Caregiver. It was funny, kind of like a super sensitivity on my tongue -- but I knew what it was, a sort of forewarning that it would begin to swell.
I came home and before it got bad I made myself a strawberry/banana smoothie -- good thing too because once my tongue gets swollen I am unable to talk, eat or swallow. Really impossible to eat because when the tongue is swollen it is hard to chew the food and move it around in your mouth. One of the reasons you can't swallow too, I suppose. And talking? Well, just try it sometime without moving your tongue, it sounds like you are MR (mentally retarded). Anyway, looking at the bright side all I had for dinner was the smoothie -- and I lost a half pound when I got on the scale this morning (smile)! So you see, there really is a silver lining in every cloud.

Thursday is my 15th anniversary and DH's birthday. He is still hurting from his broken collar bone. He cannot ride his bike for a few weeks and it makes him unhappy.

We will be having lunch out on Thursday and that will be nice. I have been encouraging him to cheer up. This too will pass.

I went to the mall with my sister today and bought a beautiful jacket. I am feeling so comfortable in my clothing. I have been heavy my entire adult life and I never realized how uncomfortable I really was. I just had a happy day.

You and I are in the same weight range, Ann -- and while we are not HUGE people, it still takes a certain amount of discipline to eat the right portions and make the right choices. I do not think of everything I'm doing as a "diet" either, but I refer to it as a "healthy lifestyle." I can definitely see the difference between my behavior now and how it was just a few years ago (before I joined SP) -- I think of the years that I wasted before I knew about SP -- and wish it had come along a lot sooner in my life.

We got home yesterday. It is good to be back.

Eve--I think any time you plan your meals counting the calories and stick with the plan, you will see results. Stalls happen but most of the time if a person is not seeing a weight loss for a substantial period of time--if they are really honest they will see that unplanned eating or portion control or under counting the number of calories is really the reason.

I do not plan my meals but I do keep track of calories and I have a range of 1000-1500 per day. I have rarely exceeded the 1500 and with the exception of the last few weeks have most of the time been in the low part of my range. I have been very happy with my results.

I am not looking at this as a diet but as a new way of eating for life. I hope to be able to eat at least 1500 calories a day to maintain my new weight when I reach goal. I am not saying I will never exceed my highest allowable calories per day but I am sure going to try.

Good luck. You can do this.

I came across an article today advising that you use the low end of your calorie allowance, and plan meals for an entire week -- and stick with it. You divide your calories into your breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. If you mess up, write it down and go on. At the end of the week, draw your own conclusions. Chances are you will have LOST weight as most of us end up gobbling down something that was not planned. If we have a set menu to follow I think we would be less likely to stray.

I'm thinking I will try this. It will be hard for me to not weigh each and every day, but it's worth a try.

I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy first thing Monday morning -- so for those of you who have gone through this procedure, you KNOW how my week-end is going. They now make sure you are not more than 2 steps away from the bathroom for 2 days before the procedure rather than just 1 day. Nice going!

You know this "prep" period is bad enough, but my body has decided that I'm going into starvation mode and I didn't lose any weight -- nope, not one ounce. Now how is that possible when I know I went potty at least 146 times already! I was finally able to go to sleep quite some time after midnite!

I met a goal today and I am very excited. I am getting things ready for a road trip. I bought new jeans yesterday and need to hem them.

I went to a breakfast today given to thank people in my community (over 55 gated) who volunteer. It was really nice and I had a good time socializing with folks. I feels really good to be appreciated.

Today is just a great day.

As I was looking at the monthly weigh in I noticed there are a few of us ladies who are within a 5 pound range of one another. Small world, isn't it? No wonder it's so easy to find friends on this site as there are so many of us with things in common.

Hi everyone! Just a gentle reminder to all of you members who are somewhat active on here -- it's time to check in on the "Monthly Weigh In" and see how you are doing and putting your weight down. Interesting to look back over the months, don't you think?

I will be sooooo happy to get back to my own house in just a few days. It is so true "There is No Place Like Home!"
