I agree with you, Leslie, turning it around... is a process that we can learn. I just want to learn to turn life around before it gets so far off that I have to really struggle to manage. If that makes any sense.

I want to work on keeping my life in balance and to recognize at an earlier time as my life starts to become unbalanced. As you said, Leslie, it is a process.

I was reading another Geneen Roth book and I guess that is my start to turning it around. I started eating low carb and can see that it has really stabilized my blood sugar and energy. Now I just need to turn around the emotioanl eating! I think for me turning it around is a process and a journey much like life!

Hi guys,

I came across this thread and appreciated the title of it. "Turning it around" has such a positive air to it. I got to thinking about some of the challenges in my life lately and I realize that I can turn all that around by simply readjusting my attitude about life.

The past Friday I said to myself in that morning that I would not have a boring and dull work day, That my day would be just as good as my attitude. I had a fantastic attitude of fun, excitement and trying new things. My work day mirrored my attitude and even my clients responded differently.

I would like to keep this thread going, if anyone else would, because I think is important (for me, at least) to see that life is about choices. I can choose to turn my attitude around to positive and exciting...and my life has to follow.

How about anyone else...how have you "turned it around" lately?

Glad to hear you're getting back in the swing of things! I'm trying to find a swing! lol! Not having a computer at home right when I was getting some momentum back has made it difficult, but I am doing fairly well, so far. Rehearsals start tonight for the play so I'm about to have some really long hours and evening snack/meals to plan for...

Here's to getting back in the "swing" of things!

Yeah, I am definitely more grounded now. I think I really did get a little depressed after leaving the good weather (yes, I did just call 109 degrees "good" weather!) and that magnificent resort. My client hours are still really low. I just talked to a new one who is wrestling the bookkeeping stuff away from a partner. That will add another hour or so a month, but I am still a long way from being self-supporting. I realized yesterday that the end of the month is going to be slow because the first of the month is when everyone gets their bank statements, etc. I may have to deal with a little light depression towards month end when the work load makes me feel 'unemployed'! I am confident I will adjust in time! Just want a fuller client load for now!

It really was surprising to step back and observe the impact that coming home had on me. I really need to get out more... HA! I do love my home though! Yesterday I did really well with fitness and eating and felt like I was truly back in the swing of things.

Hello LUCYSUNFLOWER,

It is so hard to get back into the swing of things after a vacation. Maybe the secret is to just ease your way back into the swing of things. If your body is tired then rest; I'm not sure why but traveling takes a lot out of a person. Just listen to it and it will let you know when your energy level is back.

One of the bad things about vacations is that our minds want to stay there. Have you had any luck re-focusing recently? Wow , this has got to be tough with the 4th now. I'm not sure how your client time is but can you do all of your work in a couple of days and have so many scheduled days off for you? I found with my caseload that I was doing something for work every day. Now I have it down to 4 days a week and the rest is free time for me to do what I would like to work on.

I noticed from other posts that this one woman sets her small goals for the day early in the morning or even the evening before. She posts them and then edits and adds DONE when she has accomplished them. Being public with your goals sure would keep you motivated.

Let us know if you are a little more grounded by now. Sorry I was so late getting back to answering you. It is good to have you back.

So I had a wonderful weekend in Phoenix! I met three amazing teammates I'd worked with in online classes and got to walk through graduation ceremonies with them. We all stayed at the Arizona Biltmore (off-season rates helped!) and spent most of our waking hours in the pool. I did not go with a bathing suit because prior to Friday I didn't even own one! The teammates aren't skinny-minis and ripped my head off for not having a suit - so off we went to Macy's. Now Leslie owns TWO bathing suits that provide maximum coverage but don't look too bad.

Most of my weekend hours were completely unplanned. On Saturday I ate a Zone bar in the car on the way to the stadium (passenger!) at 8:00 in the morning and then we didn't get food again until we all met up at Chili's around 2:30. I was fainting with hunger! I think I did the best I could under the circumstances - and that includes keeping my attendence at the swim-up bar to a minimum... Then there was a bottle of Patron on Sunday that needed to be consumed before we left, but let's gloss over that.

I need to get my mind away from the luxury resort and off of the lightness of no responsibilities including nutrition and fitness. Today I walked Whiskey and then did 30 minutes on my ski machine. I just did not have the courage to attempt the 30-Day Shred DVD!

How do you guys turn something around? I want my focus and commitment back. It might be on it's way but I am still tired and wanting to sleep. I think focus and commitment feels perkier! I'll be logging in here every day and that will help. And I am not going to Washington D.C. to see my mom after all and that is a huge relief. Staying with my sister would have been very stressful. I can do this - I know I can. I just want the feeling of strength back NOW!
