That is so awesome, Julia! You are making a real difference!

To be in a situation to help like that is amazing! It's crazy how government tries to standardize and limit services that are genuinely helpful and could use a little more time but then expand other programs that simply encourage laziness and dependency... emoticon oops... let me get off my soap box now...

Greetings,

I found I find my greatest passion for life is work. I work with abused children (actually all children) and am given the opportunity to teach them about their unique attributes and qualities and educate them of making healthy choices to live a life free from abuse and violence.

For over the past 30 years I have counseled and advocated for abused children. I have developed a process throughout the years of teaching children to not only survive abuse but to become their very best in spite of the abuse and difficulties in their lives. I wanted them to move from surviving to living a full and healthy lifestyle.

I see myself as helping each child to plant seeds of kindness, peace, love, acceptance, and hope. Each child is given the opportunity and skills to nurture the seeds to full bloom. Sometimes I do not get to see their gardens in full bloom; sometimes it is just in the first few stages of weeding when we have to part ways (state saying they won't pay anymore money as the child and family is "healed" after 6 months). But the seeds have been planted anyway.

My passion is to see the ah-ha moments for a child when he or she realizes the uniqueness and special qualities that make each one able -- love-able, cherish-able and worthy.

Thank you for creating this space for me to reflect on this subject and to put my passion into words. I am new to SparksPeople and every day I visit this site is a blessing and an opportunity for me to accomplish my goal of becoming healthy and fit.

My best to all of you on your journeys. Together we will be able to combine our strengths and move forward towards our goals.

In peace,

julia emoticon

That's awesome! I wanted to be a teacher at one time, but I realize that I don't really have the patience needed... Perhaps as I get my physical self in line, I'll be able to get better with the whole idea of patience. :)

I find that in teaching others about art and the things that I love I learn more about myself and my interaction about through the world. I also learn that through teaching what I love people see a completely different side to me. That I love!
