Go for it! You can buy small paint sets that won't cost an arm and a leg and take a class!!

I've always wanted to learn to paint. Years ago, I was a fan of abstract. But lately, i've had this passion to want to paint nature, or foliage or flowers.

Thread revival!

Yesterday I did some spontaneous work for two clients and then did some errands so did not do anything creative. However, that part of me is definitely coming back to life after being completely thrashed by the toxic job and school, and I am working on several art journals. I am doing one that I am using specifically to process the last two traumatic years of my life! What better way to rip on that jackass of a manager than in an art journal?! Gonna make some breakfast and head in there...

It's a different type of creative from music (which is my normal - well was). Like I said, I think about it too much, though.

I think I'll be posting my one and only piece as a picture on my profile just so I can share it a little. :)

I like Goya!In his paintings there is something dark and mysterious. On the other hand, you can see in his facial represantations the anger or generally the expression of the human soul. His art seems simple, but it is not. It is revolutionary. I used to paint, when I worked late at nights, durings my breaks from the work. It was relaxing and it took me away to a different universe! Now, I can't find the time. Actually, now I am dealing with writing. I am a pianist, so I like to experiment myself with different kinds of art. I tried dancing, too. Once upon a time. Art is expression and it helps a lot. You feel creative and through your creativity you feel also a better person, or just relaxed and refreshed!!!

Those are very interesting points.

I've tried to paint a couple of times, but I get WAY to analytical about it! lol! I'm working on getting my personal room in the house together to allow me more opportunity to be more expressive.

What would you advise for a beginner in terms not only of supplies, but of literature/research?

Art for me is exciting because no 2 works of art are the same although they maybe similar in style. By style I mean the particular approach and brush strokes that a particular artist might do. My favorite artists are Michelangelo and Van Gough. These artists are total opposites on the artistic spectrum but some how I see them both as part of my personality and abilities as an artist. Michelangelo was always well known for his idealistic, very elegant statue, romantic, and ancient greek style that was popular during the his time as an artist. His works are what I envision when I am trying to be tight and detailed. While on the other hand I seek to achieve something similar to Van Gough's works when I want to be loose and be expressive. Many of my works have a dreamy quality to them.

Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better. ~Andr Gide

This is for all to go into more detail about his/her knowledge and experiences relating to this passion in ART.
