My goal is 150 , but if I feel healthy at 180 then I hit my goal. The scale is not the only way to tell if you are healthy. Keep eating right, keep moving, and keep your head up. If you go around with your head down looking at the scale you'll run into something!

Today was an interesting day. I usually work from home on Fridays and today was no exception. The exception was my husband was off and he kept our daughter here with him instead of taking her to my mom's house. Interesting and a bit of frustration is probably the best description of most of my day. I handled it fairly well though! Now I'll be counting down the days until next Friday when I have my peaceful quiet home back. emoticon

On the health front I ate well, got my oz. in and this evening I was able to do my strength training (usually mornings but as I said...hubby & daughter...) and my jumping jacks.

Overall it wasn't so bad of a day! emoticon

Good Afternoon All! Well today is going pretty good. I had a great breakfast and lunch. At my work (hosptial) our cafeteria has one or two weight watchers entree's during lunch. I always pick that as it is measured correctly, no hidden fats and they give you all the nutritional info. To top it all off, it is actually very tasty! I am not on weight watchers but it fits my calorie cycling perfectly.

For lunch I had steamed veggies, red snapper with salsa and barley with mushrooms. It was good - even the fish!

After lunch I went to the gym down stairs and 20 min of strength training. It felt very good!

So how is everyone else doing today?

I have been overweight all of my life except 9th to 11th grade in high school. I don't know what happened but back then I thought I was still overweight. Looking back I was fine! LOL I have not owned a scale until three weeks ago. When I saw 309 on the scale I about fell over. Now, seeing that number go down is motivating to me! My clothes are all stretchy any ways so I wouldn't notice a difference! To be able to say I'm in a smaller size would be great, but I have been this size for so long, I have no other clothes to notice. I hope you know what I am trying to say?!!
Anyways everyones goals are going to be different, so dont feel alone, just do what you need to do to succeed!!! emoticon

Tomie you make a very good point.

I feel it is important to have multiple goals and know that your goals will change (as they should) throughout this lifestyle change. No matter if it is 8 weeks, 8 months or a year or so, these goals will change.

For me, right this moment, my weight (the number) is what I need to see go down to keep motivated, and that seems to be for many, but not for all. I am also keeping track of my measurements and I know that when I can fit into a size smaller, my goal will change. Lifestyle changes is not a 'One size fits all'. Please don't feel alone, we are all here to support your personal goals.

Hope this helped.

Suggestion: Change your goal to "drop on pant size" or measure yourself (I can help you) and keep track of that. Use to your advantage what will be a motivator for you!

Honestly, I don't care what the scale says. As long as I can look in the mirror and feel good about what is looking back, I will be happy. I know that a size 12 would make me VERY happy but a 14 I would be happy with as well. Lane Bryant has been good to me over the years but I am looking forward to the day I never have to go in there again.

I've been overweight ever since I was in middle school which started with becoming "chunky" in 5th grade. I can't relate to having been at a good place weight wise but feeling I was fat. My mom though has told me she looks at pictures now from her early twenties when my father in law and her own father thought she needed to lose weight (she thought so as well) and she thinks "I was thin!" She has said it makes her wonder how many women were convinced to start the vicious "diet" cycle when they were really find and in turn their diet cycle actually resulted in the end in them being overweight.

I want to remove the weight I've set for my goal but as long as I am a healthier person at the end of the challenge I will know I've done well. I think a challenge is great to push you to work at higher levels and to take away the complacency of a routine. But it's also important to remember this is about the overall journey to better health. So if in the end someone misses their weight goal but they've done well they haven't failed, they've still succeeded.

I was just wondering if anybody is not so much trying to "lose pounds" as opposed to maybe pant sizes or inches? Also if your goal is 30 pounds or size 14 would you be happy with "just" 20 pounds and size 16?

I remember when I was in high school and weighed only about 130 - 135 my father nicknamed me things like hoghead and jaws because he thought I was fat. I am 5'6 so I was chunky in the waist but not fat. Ofcourse no one could convince me I wasn't because daddy always said I was. But the point of this is for me to think I look good by pounds is telling me I need to weigh 110 or less. I think that if I can get into a size 12 pant I would look great and feel even better. I personally can not make it all about the pounds to ever feel any accomplishment.

Am I the only one out there that feels this way? Please let me know because I feel all alone.

By the way I could be happy at size 12 and probably comfortable at size 14.
