I haven't been able to weigh since I left home on 9/30. During our evacuation I ate like crap because that was all we had. Now we're back in my daughter's home and able to eat a bit healthier, and I'm happy to say I've lost a couple of pounds!

WI Sat. 9/17: 174 (SW)
WI Sun 9/25: 172.8 (Lost 1.2 total)
WI Sat. 10/15: 171.7 (lost 2.3 total)

GW: betw 152 and 159
To go: betw 12.7 and 19.7

I have not been swimming at all. I don't even know if the pool here is open right now because of the storm. We have been trying to walk with the baby every day though.

Hi everyone!!

We are in week three of this challenge as I track it. If I'm off, then of course please correct me!!!

I've lost exactly 1 pound! Hopefully now that the sinusitis is over I can focus harder and get that energy back! I've been working out on the treadmill again, so that's great!!

Goal for last week was to eat breakfast at home every day. I did all but one day, so that's a win for me!!

This week I slipped a little, and am less organized, so I'm refocusing myself and eating breakfast at home today (already done) and the rest of the week.

New goal is to drink my target of 8 glasses of water a day. I usually do pretty well on this one, so it should be a good morale boost to hit this goal!!!

Has anyone else set a personal goal for this week? If so, share it!!

Week 2:

SW: 187
CW: 185
GW: 170

I met all of my fitness goals last week, including an extra yoga session. My goals are more flexible this week because I took a rest day on Sunday and I may run a half-marathon this weekend and that may impact my workout schedule. I'm undecided. My diet was terrible, because I ate roughly 27 cupcakes and went to a brewery party with my hubs and drank like a gallon of beer. There are no special events planned this week, so hopefully I can clean that up.

Weekends are my downfall as I love to mess around in the kitchen trying new things. Surprisingly as Mondays are my worst scale days, I lost a couple this AM but before I book them let's see what's what at the end of the week. Other than that... Keep eating right and exercise. That run yesterday psyched me.

Okay, 15 weeks till the end of the year. I don't know how I miscounted before. At a pound to a pound and a half per week, that's between 15 and 22 pounds total. So that's my goal.

I also want to swim at least three days a week, and do some other form of cardio at least once a week, like walking or biking.

I'll post on Saturday mornings. If you don't see me here, please come kick me.

I lost another pound, that makes three so far for me.

The behavior that I'm working at changing is doing my yoga routine every morning. I didn't do it this weekend since I wasn't in my usual environment. So I need to do better with that. This morning dawned clear and beautiful so I should also add doing the routine out on my balcony where I can see the ocean.

*******CHALLENGE POST***********

Here's a challenge for us this week. For the first full week of our weight loss challenge I would like it if each of us chose one behavior to improve this week. This is an individual challenge so it will likely be different for all of us. Maybe like me you will focus on improving the one most problematic area you have (mine is breakfast because I absolutely love bagels and when I'm lazy I stop making my own healthy breakfast at home and I go get a bagel. Cutting out bagels was the first thing that jump started my weight loss earlier this year, so I'm going back to that focus).

You don't have to participate in every challenge I post in order to be successful in our challenge here. The goal is to lose weight and my goal here is to be accountable AND supportive AND to share some of what I have learned the last 8 months as I finally have lost weight and kept it off. I hope that at least some of the challenges I post are useful to some folks. You know ultimately it is up to YOU to lose the weight!! Your actions will get you to your goal!!!

Hi Everyone!! Welcome to the new week!

I count 15 weeks until the end of December. So, my plan is to lose 1.5 pounds per week which is a total of 22.5 pounds. That will put me within 10 pounds of my final goal weight!! It sure has taken me forever to lose this weight, but here's what I've noticed over the last 8.5 months. Even when I'm not eating my best, I'm not letting that happen for very long and I'm not gaining weight back. I'm maintaining for the first time in a long time. That tells me if I can lose the weight I can keep it off once I reach my goal. I'm not sure I've ever believed before that I could keep it off!! That's a powerful positive thought and I'm going to repeat that to myself when I feel like falling off the wagon!!!

My focus this week is to get back to eating breakfast every day at home. After I started my new job I became erratic about breakfast. So, that's my focus this week.

OK, maybe trying this will help me. I need to be accountable to someone. My goal is very modest, just 5 pounds but to keep it off. I am petite and 60 yrs old and will not lose weight very fast. My plan is to swim 2-3 times a week, walk at least 2 miles on non-swim days with one day of rest each week. I also plan to strength train twice a week. My food goals are to track 6-7 days a week and keep under 1400 calories at least 5 times a week and no days over 1600 calories. I think this is a realistic goal for me.

Laurie, I count 15 weeks, which 25 lbs is still aggressive, but I won't feel disappointed if I don't hit that, I'll just be super happy to have a bunch of weight off - haha.

Heather - Yeah, I had that thought too, which is why I wrote it that way.

Haha, I'm already down two pounds, but you know how that goes the first week...water weight! I don't know what possessed me to get on the scale - I blame it on Kourtney lol...okay, not really.

It occurs to me that just posting the amount of weight you want to lose, as Carol did, is totally fine and of course if you don't want to share your starting and ending weights that's cool. We just want to track amounts lost.

Currently 13.7 % body fat, up from the usual 13.4 although with normal swimming by the end of summer would put me just under the teens. So I'll shoot for getting back to 13.4 That's a very slow swap of fat for muscle so I'll only post first weekend of the month. Gonna be tough, my previous personal challenges has been to be the same weight the day after New Years as the day before Thanksgiving. We'll see.

Let's do it!

Current weight - 200lb (hopefully actually slightly lower bc of bloating right now).
Goal weight for xmas - 177lb

Kourtney

PREGNANT due 3/2. Weight loss is definitely not a focus right now.

I so need this too. I need to lose 25 lbs, but I don't think that's realistic by Christmas which is about 10 weeks away. I don't want to set myself up for failure, so I'm going to make the goal 15 lbs, which is 1.5 lbs per week. I will post the full info about start weight and the plan to get there in the next couple days.

I totally need this thread! I'm going to aim to lose 15 pounds by staying in my calorie range, eating more fruits and veggies and fewer sweets and snacks (and tracking what I do eat for accountability purposes), and by maintaining my workout schedule more carefully.

Great Heather, thanks for getting this started. I'm going to post my total weight that I want to lose and then each week post what's left. My goal will be 5 work outs a week, stay in calorie range and show the loss each week.

Starting Monday 9/12/16 25 lbs to lose by Christmas.

Hi all!! A few of us have been talking about focusing back on weight loss and setting a goal to lose a specific amount of weight by the end of December.

This thread will be a place for us to track our progress together!

The first thing you need to do is to put up an initial post that has your starting weight, your goal weight, and your plan to reach your goal. Every one of us is different and may need different ways to reach our goals.

Then, each week I will post a specific challenge for the week (increase our fitness minutes, eat a certain number of fruits/veggies, drink a certain amount of water, etc.). We will encourage that healthy habit for that week so that each week we build up our arsenal of healthy habits so we can all reach our goals.

Each week each challenge participant needs to put up one post with their progress for the prior week. You can put up more than one post of course, but you have to do at least one.

At the end of the challenge, those that have met their goals will get a SparkGoodie from me!!! You also will have the great feeling of having met your goal.

If you have other thoughts on how to make the challenge better, of course let me know. But if we can all start out with my basic plan, I think we can surely encourage everyone to lose weight!! This is a specific weight loss challenge, not just an exercise challenge. Just wanted to be clear on that.

Good luck to all!!! emoticon
