Update on the Garmin Swim. Coach asked me to swim ladders today including different rest times. I was always pausing and starting the watch, but I thought I'd enable the 'rest' and use the Interval (which keeps the timer going but reverses the display) - still having to pause, but with a different button on the watch. Worked like a charm.

My workout for today was:

25 free; rest 90 secs
25 back; rest 90 secs
50 free; rest 90 secs
50 back; rest 90 secs
75 free; rest 2 minutes
75 back; rest 2 minutes
100 back; rest 2 min
75 back; rest 2 min
75 free; rest 2 min
50 back; rest 90 secs
50 free; rest 90 secs
25 back; rest 90 secs
25 free; rest forever :-)

I uploaded the data to Garmin Connect and just reviewed. My intervals show everything like before, but this time the rests are also included. Oh, and btw, when I paused at the wall between intervals, the watch display inverts and shows the time it took for the last interval, including time elapsed, AND I can see when I started the rest period and watch (no pun intended) the timer count for me so I know when to take off from the wall again rather than guessing....

Highly recommend this watch - whether you're just starting out or not.

I found this site where the guy reviews the Garmin Swim. Am posting in case anyone else needs more info on it (as the manual is a wee bit useless)...

Sorry, I'm not help either. I use mine to look at my swim overall.

I haven't used it but I want to! I think I have it as a prize for when I reach a certain goal. Let me know how you like it once you know how to use it!

Thanks Heather. I tried different settings last night during my practice, some worked, some not so. Of course it would help if I actually started the darn thing when I didn't... emoticon
I'll continue searching on the Garmin Community site and youTube :-)
Cheers!

I'm sorry, I don't, but we asked also on the daily chat thread to see if anyone could give you any insight. Hopefully someone can help!

Anyone here use the Garmin Swim?

I love the watch and I use it every time I'm in the pool by starting and pausing at rests. However, I'd like to figure out if there's a way to set up my intervals similar to Tabata Training - My coach times me on Tuesdays, so tonight she wants me to do 20 intervals of 50 y each, 90 sec rest between intervals. Sunday I'll be doing ladders.
