the city now requires race food to be pre-packaged or be prepared and served by persons with a food handlers permit.

Some races have resorted to not doing fruit, some use the registered food handlers, and other have used whole fruit instead. The last race I worked, we used whole fruit because we didn't have anyone on site with a permit. If I would have known ahead of time, I would have obtained one, they are easy to get

I haven't heard any of this controversy -- what is it about? I have done lots of races and sponsored rides, and there are all kinds of food being served. The last ride I did, every rest stop had PB&J and cut-up bananas made by volunteers. What's the story?

crowded, wet, humid. It was ok, I wasnt pleased with my run, but i'll take it.
I was a little miffed that there was no fruit at the finish line. I know there has been all kinds of crazy controversy with serving fruit and food handlers permits at races....but I prefer fruit at the end, rather than crackers, clif bars, and chips!

congrats to everyone who ran a very wet and crowded race

Yea for all of you who did it! I wanted to run it so badly, but I was too afraid. How silly am I? I really want to run this next year. Maybe I just need to hit more 5k's and build up my confidence.

Yes. I ran the route yesterday with some of my running group. Three pretty good hills on 15th street that I forgot about from last year. We are talking about meeting at the zero mile marker for a mile warmup and drills. Not dressing up because I am a weenie and don't want to be uncomfortable!
